Kurousagi listens out for the plot development this week.

Welcome back! Time for another awesome review of Mondaiji! Soooo three episodes in and what are your thoughts? Staying with it or dropping it forever and never looking back? Currently it keeps me entertained, but I don’t really expect to have my mind blown with every passing episode. However, I am still quite curious to see who steals the spotlight this time because You-san got to show off last week… Anyway I hope you enjoy my video this week!

About

Is huge anime fan from Florida! who loves to watch anime and also enjoys drawing and collecting pictures, my favorite genre of anime has to be Mecha, there is just something awesome about giant robots beating the crap out of each other! 1. Highway says:

Jin Russell has always been the leader of the community for the length of the show. As far as I can tell, Kurousagi is in a weird position, as she’s got official powers from the Little Garden to be an arbiter of rules / referee for games, but is attached to Jin’s community. Perhaps every community has such a person attached, and it seems like she doesn’t (can’t?) use her power to compete in any gift games.

I don’t mind that the show is going for some equal time. Iyazoi I can’t quite figure out, I just can’t understand his motivation for sticking with the no-names. He just doesn’t seem like the kind of guy that would want to build up a community, but apparently I’m wrong. But making You and Asuka have their time, and have as much confidence as Iyazoi (well, I don’t know if anyone’s got that much confidence), is not a bad choice for the show. Plus, this could easily turn into the Iyazoi Show if he did everything, and that wouldn’t be nearly as exciting as Hagure Yuusha was with Akatsuki doing everything, including harassing the girls.

    • HannoX says:

My guess is that Iyazoi is sticking with the no-names because that’s more of a challenge. If he moved to a powerful community he would face far fewer challenges and there’d be others in the community who’d also fight leaving him fewer chances to do so. Sure, there’s also You and Asuka, but there’s only three of them total who can fight in the gift games. In a strong community there might be a dozen or more.

He seems to be a guy who wants to fight as much as he can and he wants those fights to be as challenging as possible. In his home world his fights didn’t challenge him and here with the no-names he can count on having a number of fights, some of which might test him to his limit.

    • Foshizzel says:

@highway: True I guess Kurousagi is just a member of that clan? Either that or she is in charge of explaining the rules to the other people and yeah that is strange that she does not participate in any of the games, but I suppose she is just a observer right now.

Honestly I think Izayoi just wants to fight demons instead of worry about these silly little games! For all we know his world could have been one giant free for all everyday? I still love the fact that he doesn’t run in to steal the show.

@HannoX: Yep! Izayoi just wants to fight and rather not do any silly games right now unless there is a powerful demon involved? I loved that You and Asuka are equally able to fight instead of MC-KUN saving the day ALWAYS!

So in short the girls can have the gift games while Izayoi kind of chills in the background waiting for his chance to fight a demon or the demon king.

  2. belatkuro says:

The end card is from the artist of the OreShura LN, Ruroo. Quite cute.

And isn’t Asuka’s power kinda OP? To be able to control other gifts is quite a powerful ability, though I can guess that the limitation would be if those gifts in question are too powerful for her to control. Oh well.
I like her dress. And while she doesn’t have Kurousagi’s melons, hers are quite decent as well.

You is quite brave and reckless too. She didn’t shine as much this episode, though that’s probably because the previous one was all her and this was Asuka’s time to shine.
Can we use her last name though. Using her first name in a sentence looks weird when you read it.

Izayoi is taking up the challenge and and he’s confident about it. It could get a bit boring if he’ll always be full of himself. Though his powers are probably the reason of his overconfidence. How strong is he and what’s his true power like, is something that’s keeping me interested here.
Plus dat Kurousagi cosplay as well.
I think everyone’s watching this for the bunny girl right? Right?… Uh, guys………
Don’t leave me along in this!

    • Highway says:

Whose power isn’t OP so far? Maybe You’s (We could always go to calling her 耀) isn’t, but I’m sure we’ll find a way that it is, because it wouldn’t work well for the show to have her continually fall further behind Izayoi and Asuka.

    • HannoX says:

I suppose we could shorten it to Yu or use Yuu.

      • Yukarin_YY says:

well, her name is read You as Yō. Its not Yuu o Yu. It’s an extended o :/

        • Restia says:

          *slaps myself
I keep using my old one

        • Highway says:

I don’t know if it’s bad or good, but in that ‘confusing English and Japanese’ thing, I’ve started pronouncing some English words as if they were Japanese in my head. Now this is going to be another one.

I wasn’t having problems with it as “Yo-” (hah, any way you put it in standard romaji characters, it looks like English ‘you’).

          • Restia says:

yeah transliterating to English tough :/
one example is a character from Touhou: Sanae

Some fans are like “How the heck do you pronounce that? The translation team is retarded.” but, it’s just that they aren’t familiar with the romanization of japanese characters :/

Most people pronounce Sanae as “Sa-Nay” or “Sa-Nai”
Only people who are familiar with the Japanese language will know it’s read “Sa-Na-eh” although when written in English it looks horridly awkward. Same deal with Keine.

    • BlackBriar says:

Yeah, it’s better if we just call her Kasukabe. Using her first name will confuse people.

    • Foshizzel says:

      Ooooh lovely artist then <3

True Asuka's power is quite OP indeed, but to be fair it seems like all the special human characters are OP in their own way even though You-chan got owned by the tiger/vampire thing...hooray for new outfits!

Yeah I will have to start saying Kasukabe instead of You! I mean Yuu and Yu still sounds like "you" so its tough, but text wise not to bad.

I agree if he walked around always like "I am such a bad ass and no one can fight me." it would get old fast! I like his zero worries attitude and this time we can clearly see he wants to fight demons.

I love the bunny girl <3

  3. Highway says:

The show probably won’t get into it, but I see a sustainability problem with the setup of the Little Garden. Basically, it completely relies on new people to shake up the order in any way. And those new people would likely slot in pretty quickly to the position of power their gifts represent. So another question is: how do they get rid of people to make room for new people? It seemed that killing Galdo was a rather out of the ordinary move. But then we found out that he was just slaughtering the kids and wives he was supposedly taking hostage. So maybe there’s more turnover than I think.

    • Foshizzel says:

I think once they gain more members maybe someone else will get the chance to steal the spotlight? Anything can happen at this point! I still want to see Izayoi kick some ass xD

  4. HannoX says:

Calico Cat was enjoying that bath far too much. But he probably wished he was in there with three cat girls.

    • Highway says:

*She* probably didn’t want other girl cats there. Calico cats are almost 100% girl cats. And almost all of the tremendously rare boy calicos are sickly and sterile.

      • HannoX says:

I know calicos are almost always female, but this one seems to be the rare male that is not sickly and sterile. At least I got the impression when it was hitting on that cat girl waitress earlier that it was male.

        • Highway says:

That is true. Now I’m wondering if that’s just a screw up on the part of the show: “Calico cats are pretty, let’s make the cat in our show be that.”

          • HannoX says:

Could be. I know I was surprised when it turned out to be male. Was that done for just the sake of that one bit? Or are they going to play up the “tom cat” angle again? I kept expecting him to go underwater to ogle the girls in the bath.

      • Foshizzel says:

Oh? Interesting! I wonder if the producers even researched different kinds of cats? Course who knows maybe the Calico cats in Kasukabe’s world have healthy male versions? In short just blame “magic” ku ku ku~

      • skylion says:

Calico Cat obviously has a Gift. The gift of not being a sickly calico male. It would make me randy….

    • BlackBriar says:

He enjoyed a little too much, indeed but we have to take notice of the fact that he’s a cat who is willingly swimming in water. That feline isn’t normal.

      • Foshizzel says:

he’s a cat who is willingly swimming in water

        ^THIS^

“normal” IRL cats wouldn’t do that but I know it isn’t 100% impossible thanks to youtube and things like that! I know there are some cats that like water xD

    • Restia says:

Galdo is a tiger that can transform in to a human right..

      ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I will be watiting for this cat to transform and be a playboy lol

      • Foshizzel says:

Wow imagine if that happens?! He can be a perfect match for Kurousagi <3

      • BlackBriar says:

Galdo was origanally a normal tiger who learned magic to take human form and became a demon through a Demon Lord’s power but he was later manipulated by that loli vampire while he was creating his community. Toward the end of the last episode, the vampire girl bit him and gave him an even stronger power which resulted with him being what he was in this episode. You could say Galdo was a vampiric tiger. That explains why there was a cruciform sword close to him.

      • skylion says:

        I’m thinking of Greebo.

His human form is said to look like Antonio Banderas on extasy, in an eyepatch, and frequently naked (cats don’t typically carry a change of clothes…or any).

  5. Liza says:

Well, so Asuka’s power is finally revealed. And she seems so overpowered compared to everyone else. 0_0 Like if she wanted to, it seemed like she could beat down Iyazoi and You without any trouble. Although maybe will plays a part in it? Since Asuka wasn’t able to control tiger-guy. I also wonder, since Jin can also participate in gift games, does he have a power of some kind too?

    • Foshizzel says:

FINALLY! I was like whooaaaa that is a awesome power if it can command objects like the sword? Imagine what she could do if she found some beat up tank and commanded it to repair? LOL

To be fair I think all the main characters have OP powers if used correctly or until Kurousagi explains how they are used? I still want to see Izayoi to kick ass! COME ON BRO!

I am curious to see what Jin can even do…

      • Liza says:

He can defeat Demon Lords, obviously. XD

        • BlackBriar says:

Maybe he’s only interested because he’s bored and wants a challenge. He’s someone with a lot of power and doesn’t know what to do with it all.

        • Foshizzel says:

lulz wouldn’t that be hilarious? His power only works on demons ahahah

  6. Highway says:

Hey Fosh, check out Asuka’s dance in the last part of the ED song. See if that looks familiar to you. 🙂 (You’s also looks quite familiar, from a similar source, but seems to add different moves in).

    • Foshizzel says:

Duhuhuh I have an idea! Looks like a mixture of WoW dances as in the human male and female?! There might be a third one in there…

      • Highway says:

I think Asuka’s is pretty much Human male only and You’s is part Orc male. I don’t recognize the rest tho.

        • Foshizzel says:

Yeah my brother was telling me that when we saw the ED that their dances are WoW style! Good eyes thou for bringing it up.

  7. PrimeHector says:

The ending card is good because the end card artist is the same from the Kikou shoujo LNs.

  8. BlackBriar says:

Good episode this week. Izayoi is good smooth talker as well as he fights but a little too manipulating. The deal is he doesn’t want to fight unless he feels obligated. Jin let himself get thrown into the fire too easily and got himself blackmailed. They already seem like they have a big brother, little brother relationship.

I was hoping that You would be the one to kill Galdo because she deals with animals but Asuka handled herself well in her place. The fight, however, felt rushed and should have been drawn out a little longer and I wish You’s part of it was shown. This is the fault of the anime being 10 episodes long.

As for Galdo’s transformation. A vampire giving beast shape shifting powers is new to me (To me, of all people). Speaking of the loli, she seems uncaring that he lost so I guess she only helped him because she was bored and wanted to burn some time or that there’s another plan in the works and he was a means to an end. Jin already had an idea on who helped Galdo which means they’ve met before.

    • Foshizzel says:

Good episode indeed my friend and yeah I feel the same about Izayoi he doesn’t really want to fight scrub people he rather take a demon head on and test his power! Jin does make the perfect little brother character for Izayoi ahaha

You would think You would have the upper hand against another animal type, but maybe the vampire part of Galdo was blocking her power? That or the creators wanted to give Asuka a chance to shine cause of the whole 10 episode thing…

Aye she was probably super bored and you might be right about Jin knowing her,

I just want Izayoi to fight or give us more info on Kurousagi’s powers and the fact that why doesn’t she fight? Is she allowed or is she just scared? LOL

      • Highway says:

Well, I think You would have the upper hand, unless she had to fight using a sword. Her gift isn’t to kill other animals, it’s to befriend them and use their power.

Like I mentioned above, I don’t think Kurousagi is allowed to fight for the community in a gift game. I think she could probably use her power to defend the community or to stop a game that somehow went in violation of the rules, but otherwise I think she’s bound to stay out of it.

  9. BlackBriar says:

Oh, man. Spammy ate my first comment on the post. Can someone help me out?

    • Foshizzel says:

I think someone got your comment! Hooray~

      • BlackBriar says:

Yeah. Coincidently, it popped up after I posted the comment above asking for help. Spammy is a tricky beast. You can’t trust him.

        • Highway says:

He delights in making us look bad, too.

          • BlackBriar says:

What a sadistic spam monster (I’m still inclined to gather an angry mob with torches and pitchforks just to get revenge). 🙂

  10. KLACMAN says:

yea give since this prove this is NOT will be like dog days anime give bit more darker.

besides at least wonder to show since it only 10eps for now.

    • Foshizzel says:

I never got into dog days I guess I should look at it? I saw episode one of s1 and kind of didn’t like it xD

      • Restia says:

well supposedly Season 3 is coming up so it might be a good idea :>

      • skylion says:

Think of my tastes, Fosh. You know Dog Days is right in my zone. Do it.

Honestly, it does get a bit predictable in S2. My spawn remarked about middle way, “What is this? Happy Picnic: The Anime?”

        • Karakuri says:

I’m pretty sure Dog Days has a character song with Rie Tanaka and Wakamoto singing a duet. This is reason enough for anyone to watch it.

      • skylion says:

Spammy?! You dear little fool. Let go of my comment….you rascal.
