Dakara Boku wa and Hagure Yuusha got some buzz in the first impressions posts from Fosh & I despite being silly/dumb/whack ecchi premises, blah blah… so we decided to bunch those up together and (next week) add in Campione! to this weekly feature. |

//Fosh: This episode was both random and quite hilarious for me because the cast of characters are really crazy like Chikage for instance the generic yuri girl I don’t really mind yuri themes, but her short H scene felt random like I picture the producers talking like “We need a girl x girl scene to keep people watching.” Also the part where Akatsuki practically forced the other girls to experience the same embarrassment as Kuzuha? (Surprise its Hanazawa Kana as a loli) WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT!? While it was more wtf it still made me laugh and thank god they kicked Akatsuki’s ass! He deserved that treatment and then we cut to the always needed NSFW showering scenes! This week we saw Miu, Chikage and Kuzuha…at least Chikage stayed in her own shower, but I think if they were all together in one shower that would have blown up the entire budget for this episode.
Wow, anime is already referencing the Penn State scandal?
//Jrow: Ecchi is why Hagure is even worth looking at, but Akatsuki can at the very least add a bit of enjoyment in me watching the show. I love when guys take pride in being the cock of the walk and bully bullies like he did. In my head I always envision those wussy lead males manning up, and that’s basically what Akatsuki is. It did feel like the introduction of “Fuukiin” tried to gimp him so much during the episode, but he’s got enough “cool guy” going on to overcome that it seems. Akatsuki making the girls piss themselves was a hilariously bad scene, but I laughed like an idiot when DEM WET SPOTS animation happened. If an anime can do that much, then I got more to enjoy than boobs.
Other quick thoughts… disappointing OP by Faylan… the sound effects for battle reminded me of Freezing which really sucked… ecchi was nothing new since we’d already seen these scenes in the character episode vs. Queen’s Blade…
Sunbeam-chan may be away, but damn meme censorship blocking Kuzuha booty!

//Jrow: This is looking more like it will be different from the manga. They state that his horniness will recover after a period of time, and of course there’s the double-dose of action that we’ve gotten in these first two episodes. There’s also the fact that Lisara is a bit more edgy (tsun) in the anime than she is in the manga. No complaints from me.
Lisara, she’s cute. Nice body, slender build, all that, etc. When it comes to women in general, I tend to be more attracted towards characters like Lisara who aren’t so chest-heavy and have a well-shaped figure. When the boobs get too big (best example being Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon), they become literally too much to handle. For example, Saeko Busujima from H.O.T.D. > Nurse Shizuka. Another one, Elizabeth Mably from Freezing > Bridget Satellizer. Let’s balance this out with an IRL comparsion. Halle Berry > just about, well… all women ever. That’s debatable, but I’ve beaten you over the head with my point the same way the show does with Ryosuke’s horniness.

//Fosh: This episode sure was flashy and by flashy I mean the duel between Lisara and her cousin, they did show off some cool transformation between those two girls. Of course I saw Ryosuke’s scene where he ends up touch both girls at the same time…so who else saw that coming from a mile away? Still it works because he is the king of ecchi. I did laugh at the parts where he was trying to find interesting guys for her! Like the guy who can snap his fingers and toes? I was like what the hell is going on? Anyway this series is really very funny! If you aren’t watching you should watch for the laughs, but I can understand if you rather not due to all the NSFW scenes. Oh right I really started laughing so freaking hard when Ryusuke woke up and started to call his special friend in his pants “My Kingdom” Yep can I bet everyone watching this episode instantly went “Wow…did he really just say that about his junk?” While that line was completely dumb I still thought it was very hilarious! Damn Hiro Shimono really plays some great comedic roles doesn’t he…oh and then there are roles like this one…

Of these two shows, I like Boku H far better so far. I’m sure some of it is that my initial impressions have pushed what I see in each one, but right now, Boku H is one of my favorite shows this season, and Hagure Yuusha is just something to watch.
Lisara definitely has a great body shape, and overall I find the character designs far more appealing in Boku H. Mina seems somewhat unique, in that she’s pretty welcoming of Ryousuke’s glances and admiring thoughts, and also that she catches on to what’s going on fast, but just asks for an explanation, and goes along with it. And even if she’s said she’s an ‘F’, it’s a realistic look for her body style, not just gag boobs hung off a 90 pound girl.
I also like the show’s pacing so far. It’s not throwing characters at us. In fact I like that seems like it’s not going for a harem show at all, just a Mina or Lisara setup.
As for the action, Lisara is pretty spendy with the energy she gets from Ryousuke. One of these fights, she’ll have to make it through the whole thing without a mid-battle powerup. That’s really my only complaint with the show, tho. It seems like she’s warming up to him on a good schedule.

I also have to mention that I think Aya Endou is doing a tremendous job as Lisara (and so has Hiro Shimono). It helps that because there are few main characters on the show they get a lot of lines, but it’s really filled out the character’s personalities in only 2 episodes, especially comparing it with other shows this season (not just Hagure Yuusha). I like the amount of tsun that Lisara’s got, and that it’s not ‘on’ all the time. She was pretty tolerant of all the guys, and is really pretty tolerant of Ryousuke, except when he goes too far or lets his inner monologue out.
The interplay between them is great, too. Two parts that were excellent: after fighting Quele, he mentioned ‘sweet buns’ again, and she drained his energy again to shut him up, and eating dinner with Mina: “Engines may run on gasoline, but Lisara runs on my perversion!” “Urusai!” Both have made me crack up every time I see them.

Yeah I am with you Highway I like Boku H for artwork and overall story, but honestly this is a story we have seen over and over and over again with all the girl with powers arrives and x main character helps her? Aka magical girlfriend set up.
Lisara! Damn very nice <3 and Ryousuke? FREAKING HILARIOUS! I swear he makes me laugh, but of course his voice work as the main from BenTO as equally funny.
Pacing is alright and I agree!
Action is a bit weaker for me at this point, however episode one was great with Lisara vs that slime like monster...and the "fight" with her cousin was flashy and cool but it was lacking something? I guess I need to see a real knock down fight against some monster! YES

I figured I’d put the Hagure Yuusha thoughts in a separate comment. Better if people want to reply, too.
This show is just kinda meh to me. I still think Miu’s head is too small, and that pretty much constantly bothers me (admittedly, it’s an ‘elbows too pointy’ argument). I also started thinking that they’re just lifting characters from other series (like I mentioned in a late comment on the First Impression post). Kuzuha is Kuroneko with green hair, Haruka is Tsukiumi with green hair, Akatsuki is Accelerator before he was really twisted by the push to Level 6, and Miu is Rias Gremory with some of Mio Akiyama’s initial shyness.
We’ll see how this show goes. It hasn’t really felt like there’s been any plot movement, although I guess Akatsuki making enemies could be considered movement. Seem like that’s kinda pointless so far, tho.

Yuusha seems to be more comfortable with their sexual scenes like the yuri scene? Yeaaaahhh I wasn’t expecting that! I mean sure it is uncensored, but damn…they went for it didn’t they? Like I told Kyokai I think these two shows try to one up each other every week in terms of H material.

I couldn’t get into Akagi or that one other show because of the noses. It also took me a long time to accept Nico Robin’s nose.

Hagure Yuusha no Estetica has now officially hit Seikon no Qwaser territory. The unexpected part was that random hentai style yuri scene. Gah, my goggles!!! What’s stopping her from getting to the other girls now that her secret is out? LOL. I didn’t think any studio would go this far. They get points for boldness. Akatsuki’s ass kicking was well deserved and I laughed quite a lot for it. It’s one thing to help someone out but others suffer to try and ease the humiliation is another. Out of the three girls in the last scene, to me, Miu is the most exotic. She has a nice body and it looks like she still retains a certain amount of her baby fat which makes her look cute.
Dakara Boku wa, H ga Dekinai seems to be doing better for me. Lisara just makes everything worth watching and Ryosuke is funny as hell with his open perversion. Hiro Shimono is playing the unrated version of Ben-To’s Sato here. I wasn’t surprised Lisara’s cousin would turn on her. You could see that coming a mile away. Was anybody else thinking bondage when Lisara was tied up? She had the shameless lust filled expression to boot.

Yeah the Yuusha producers were pretty much like- “DUDE WE NEED A YURI SCENE!” and the other producers were like BEST IDEA EVER! I know right? I died laughing when Akatsuki got his ass kicked what a dumb move.
Dakara just looks fancy and amazing! I look forward to that every week, but the voice work is fantastic I think in terms of entertainment I would turn to that series rather than Yuusha…anyway I can’t get enough of how crazy Ryosuke gets around Lisara.
