Haiyoru! Nyaruko-san – 05

Nyaruko-“There is a huge mystery to discover this week, Mahiro!”

Welcome back, Haiyore fans! The previous episode wasn’t as hilarious as the other episodes, but I have high hopes for this one to be better for the laughter… Anyway, time for the review! LETS NYA!

This week, Yoriko is taken by Ruuhii and Kuuko for a secret mission while Mahiro, Nyaruko and Hastur plan to rescue her.

Kuuko-“Now…kiss!”               Mahiro-“EHHHH!? WAIT!”              Hastur-“My body is ready…”

We start this episode with Hastur, Kuuko, Mahiro and Nyaruko walking to the house together where Hastur plans on talking to Yoriko about something very important. Also Kuuko is pushing for the shipping of Mahiro and Hastur big time, because with those two out of the picture she can get closer to Nyaruko-san. Yeah right, keep on dreaming girl. After arriving at the house Yoriko shows up and Ruuhii pops up just in time to grab Mahiro’s mom in an attempt to kidnap her. But instead of resisting, Yoriko up and agrees to join the green haired woman for some secret interstellar mission or someone that holds the potential to rule space? Kuuko joins them after a quick fight with Nyaruko; oh and Ruuhii referrers to Kuuko as some queen, but what exactly is she the queen of? Yuri?

Mahiro-“I have had enough of these lies!”                 Nyaruko-“I CAN SEE MY HOUSE FROM HERE!!”

Yoriko-“Well hello there, little boy! You want me to adopt you too!?”                   Mahiro-“Nooooooooooo!! DON’T DO IT!”

Kuuko-“Oh my sweet yuri! Your mom is into older women…”

Kuuko-“Universal studios called and they want their car returned, Ruuhii-sama.”

So yeah Yoriko joins Ruuhii and Kuuko, and they escape like in the movie back to the future, complete with the amazing flying car mode. While Mahiro’s mom chills with her new friends, Nyaruko and the others try to figure out where they might have taken her and why, but they assume it has to be something related to the sononium she always talks about? Uh sure they the bad guys want a fake element that some human made up…right… Anyway, they eventually figure out they took her back to R’lyeh Land that just so happens to be deep underwater right now.

Nyaruko-“Don’t worry this is for your own good, Hastur!”                Hastur-“I swear I will bite your arm off!”

Mahiro-“Are you thinking what I am thinking, Nyaruko?”              Nyaruko-“Hmmmm I think so…”

Nyaruko-“PANCAKES! RIGHT!?”                  Mahiro-“Uh no! Let’s save my mom, but I could go for some pancakes.”

Surely Nyaruko has a plan right!? And the answer is yes! In the form of another random Pokemon reference she uses her magical ball to summon the all-powerful Nephren-Car! Yes she really does have a car that she keeps in her pocket, but this car has missiles and it basically doubles as an all-purpose submarine. Sadly they are stopped by some large monsters and Mahiro is thrown from the Nephren-Car… Damn those doors really suck or that bubble blast attack was super effective against the door.

Get your Nephren-car for three easy payments of ten thousand dollars!

Nyaruko-“No one can dodge my missile spam!”                 Mahiro-“What about giant monster fish girls?”

Thankfully Mahiro was saved by a magical rock and CPR by Hastur who openly confesses his undying love for Mahiro, but he dodges that bullet after telling the blonde to wait twenty five million years until he can accept his offer of love! D’awww tricking Hastur like that was low, but he does have Nyaruko after him every five minutes. The episode ends shortly afterwards with Nyaruko preparing to fight Kuuko with Ruuhii watching them.

Kuuko-“Are you fully prepared for this duel?”                 Nyaruko-“I forgot my cards, but I got my fists!”

Hastur-“I need to practice my CPR Mahiro.”                 Mahiro-“Uh please wait a billion years.”

Extra lovecraft fun

Hastur-“Oh Mahiro you smell so fresh I just can’t help but hug you!”             Mahiro-“Thanks? I guess…”

I can see that your yuri levels are off the charts Kuuko.

Nyaruko shows her cute side in the heat of underwater battle…

Alright that was a decent episode and I was only able to grab onto maybe two or three different references like the obvious one from Back to the Future and the random RPG comment about various vehicles you can find in most video games. I wasn’t sure on the third reference other than the awesome Nephren-Car, I kept thinking Code Geass because the rear tire things reminded me of the skates some of the Nightmare frames used to get around, but I could be way off like most of the time…

So, Hastur has feelings for Mahrio? I think most of us saw that plotline coming from a mile away, oh and anime always teaches us these things. At least Haiyore! Nyaruko-san has a blend of yuri themes and yaoi stuff for guys and girls. Then again Infinite Stratose tried the same thing with Char, but that was a trap character anyway… I am pretty sure Hastur is a boy, from reading comments on other blogs out there. Still it makes me laugh to watch how excited Hastur gets around Mahiro oh and Nyaruko/Hastur totally have the older sibling/younger sibling relationship; however, they are now official rivals when it comes to who loves Mahiro more.

This episode provided me with some new mysteries, like someone that holds the potential to rule space? I wonder what they are talking about!? Oh and does Mahiro’s mom have a thing for Hastur’s father? If the producers make them surprise siblings I will just die laughing or from the epic face-palming I will do later; either way I hope we find out more on that subject really soon. So, Kuuko is a queen now? I guess she is the queen of space? Because you can pretty much slap space onto anything in this series and it magically works. Comedy wise for this episode I just laughed at Nyaruko acting like her crazy self as always and Kuuko’s reactions to the new shipping of Hastur and Mahiro, but to be honest it wasn’t that funny compared to the first few episodes. Overall it was entertaining and that really is all that matters when following a comedy series! I hope next week provides more laughs because it looks like a beach/fan-service filled episode.

Swimsuits check! Random classmate showing up? Double check.

Fun in the sun with Nyaruko-san! So you better pack some sunscreen and an extra swimsuit top…

Is huge anime fan from Florida! who loves to watch anime and also enjoys drawing and collecting pictures, my favorite genre of anime has to be Mecha, there is just something awesome about giant robots beating the crap out of each other! Other than that type of show, I love a good comedy or action series :D

Poking around in the fora, I can see that many watchers failed their SAN rolls, as they’re either confused or in extreme denial about the presence or lack thereof of extra piping in the Trap in Yellow’s nether regions. *coughs* All in all fitting for an entity that causes insanity just by manifesting on a stage.

I foresee a sharp increase in applicants for the Cult of the Rapine Storm.

More about putting points into Spot Hidden. Not that Hasta needs to hide anything; he’s accepting of his feelings.

These applicants of which you speak…I don’t think they will make it past the screening process. It’s one thing to have massive psychic powers and a desire to destroy, it is an entirely different thing to write in the Who Recommended You space : I’m just made about dat shota trapzor!

We-el…..I’m sure the dhole pens could use a new hand, turnover rate there much be extraordinary….

The only reference I saw in this episode was that time machine car from Back to the Future that the used to take Kuko and Yoriko. What’s different is that Mahiro isn’t using forks this time to punish Nyaruko. Maybe he felt they were being overused.

Oh, what a mess! I’m finding it extremely hard to accept that Hastur is a guy. Go to Wikipedia for concrete proof. Looks like this show is trying to mirror Kuko and her obsession by using Hastur on Mahiro. Nyaruko won’t stand for that and will definitely fight, maybe even kill to keep her object of desire. And it’s true that he and IS’s Charlotte do look alike but they’re the opposite gender of how they look.

Nyaruko continues to please with her unpredictable outbursts and crackpot theories. She’s also a brutal savage when she’s fighting for someone who is a bit soft in the head. If Mahiro’s mother and Hastur’s father really were together long enough, then both boys would’ve been half human/half deity. Oh, the magic of genetics.

    • Foshizzel says:

DAT CAR! Yeah maybe Nyaruko is immune to fork damage now? Probably built up a resistance to that form of abuse…

Yep! Hastur is a dude, but he doesn’t seem to be as harmful as Nyaruko is towards Mahiro! Then again we don’t really know much about him yet…part of me is like omg why is this kid so cute!? Damn you character designers!

Ahahah yeah I always love watching Nyaruko come up with these strange ideas.

If you look at what the series has told us about the aliens and Mahiro’s mom, i’m 90% sure that the “rule the universe” thing has something to do with upgrading a old style console or maybe even remake a out of stock game for selling to the aliens

    • Myssa Rei says:

Close, but not quite. I will give you that it IS about a game console though.

    • Foshizzel says:

Ahaha I would die if that ends up being the sole reason his mom switched sides like that, but I really hope it ends up being something trollish for the fans.

    Good review as always, Foshenstein!

Don’t feel bad about missing some of the references, this is why we have this great community.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I really do want to give Hasta a hug. He’s just to darned adorable not to. You can easily see Mahiro having a difficult time with this. He wants the trap. Amirite?

    • Foshizzel says:

      D’awww thank you Skylion!

Yeah I didn’t really recognize any of them this week but the obvious back to the future car of course ahaha

LOLOL Yeah I guess Hastur is a bit cute looking and he isn’t as clingy like Nyaruko is towards Mahiro or Kuuko clinging to Nyaruko! Whatever character he chooses in the end is going to be bad for him anyway xD

      • Myssa Rei says:

We’re still missing a few more members of the cast. Just from the flash animation alone there’s Nyarue, Ath-ko the perverted Atlach-Nachan girl, and Cthu-nee, Cthuko’s big sister.

        • skylion says:

Goodness. So far, with every new character introduction, the spotlight shifts from Nrayu-chan. And it keeps getting funnier. Can they keep that up?

          • BlackBriar says:

Looks like they’re also evening out the playing field by adding a certain number of guys and girls. If Hastur was actually a girl, based on his baffling appearence, it would’ve been another standard harem setting. Excluding Yoriko and Ruuhii, the end of the OP shows a total of three boys and three girls. It’s a nice change of pace.

        • Foshizzel says:

I can smell a season two coming out of this first series! Seriously all those characters!? DAAAUMMMM! That is a lot to deal with xDD

Kuuko has a sister!? Wow…I bet she is hardcore yuri or the total opposite and into dudes!? That would make me die from all the laughter.
