Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou – 11

Girl-“KU KU KU…I will take over this series! WHAHAHAHA.”

OH NOES! We are almost at the end of the amazing daily lives of high school boys! Whatever will we do without it? Other sad news for Gintama fans as season two officially ends, but I think theirs is more of break so the writers can take a breath for a bit. However there is always a new comedy series to fill the gap left by shows like Ika Musume, Nichijou and finally Danshi koukousei no Nichijou.

Stories this week revolve around conflict, epic games of kick the can, literature girl battles and annoying friends.

Hidenori-“Uh, dad, what the hell are you doing?”                Dad-“Training for the Holy Grail War, DUH!”

First up! Hidenori plays catch with his father late one night, but his dad uses a golf club to play baseball with…indeed Hidenori’s father is a special case just like his oddball son. Shortly after, Yuusuke joins them and finds out they are all locked out of the house with no key to use because their mother is away on vacation. This is anime and you should understand that law of anime! Parents are required to be missing or on business trips for long periods of time or they die off in some horrible accident.

Girl-“My cute guy senses are tingling…”

Girl-“NO! DON’T LEAVE ME, CUTE GUY! I feel a disturbance in the moe force…”

Yassan-“Your library card just expired, prepare to DIE.”              Girl-“Damn…it’s YOU!”

Hidenori plays a strange game of kick the can with Yoshitake and by strange I mean a freaking epic game of kick the can without any rules. It seems these two guys fight really dirty to win at any cost, which brings in Mitsuo again this week. I think he replaced the other main character aka Tadakuni. I guess he is just like Akarin from Yuru Yuri? No presence whatsoever… Anyway instead of kicking a can, Hidenori and Yoshitake replace the can with a fake Gundam model that belongs to Mitsuo. DAMN WHY SO MEAN, Hidenori!? However, Mitsuo fights to the death to protect his model only to have Hidenori sneak past kicking it into a million pieces. Thankfully it was his birthday so the guys bought him a “replacement” model kit…only that one was a knockoff that he tosses into the garbage.

Yoshitake-“This looks like this is a bad case of…”

Yoshitake-“…mistaken identity!”

Flint and Asuno better watch out for Hidenori’s powerful kicks…

Hooray for random fake Gundam models! The next sets of stories are somewhat random with two guys discussing what kinds of girls they think are cute and Yoshitake receiving a love letter!? So, who sent the letter if he goes to an all boy’s school? NOOOOOOOOOO!! YOU BETTER RUN AWAY, Yoshitake! However, this was just a messed up joke by Motoharu, but you fangirls out there can believe what you want of course. I was surprised their teacher did not jump on the whole love letter thing just to make fun of the guys. That is something she would have done, right?

Yoshitake-“Dude, what the hell is this crap.”                  Hidenori-“Fangirls man…they want a piece of you.”

The fine art of trolling provided by Yoshitake and the new girl.

And finally the last two stories follow Yoshitake turning the tables on the newest girl to join the cast. This girl aka the Over Self-Conscious woman enjoys walking away from anyone that gets near her…that must be her hobby or something? Yoshitake does the total opposite instead of getting depressed when the girl leaves his side, he simply follows her and sits next to her on purpose and hilarious facial reactions happen! Good work, Yoshitake, you trolled the troll this week. Finally we end things with Hidenori breaking down everything he finds annoying about his best friend Yoshitake.

Hidenori-“Why am I friends with this guy? Oh right, our other friend got erased from the series.”

Hidenori-“THAT IS IT! I WILL ERASE YOU FROM MY LIFE, YOSHITAKE!”

They have stared into the face of true evil and are frozen with fear.

We are not done yet because it is time for more high school girls are funky with more conflicts because the girls want to see who is stronger! These girls have so much aggression to work out every week. Habara decides to take part in this contest and says there should be no rules, which scares the other two as they are quick to say it was just a joke and Habara drops a rock freaking the other two out even more…wow…Habara is so cute but she has a hardcore dangerous side to her.

Extra awesome daily lives of high school students

Hidenori-“Sorry, new girl, I must leave you to play more World of Warcraft.”

I want my Ringo spin off series! Daily lives of moe student council presidents.

Mitsuo-“I SWEAR ALL WE DO IS FIGHT! Why can’t we just be friends?”

Dangerous moe girls are amazing.

End thoughts

Another great episode this week! Compared to the last episode I would say this was slightly better thanks to some “action” scenes as in the short fights. While this series is not a hardcore action series like Gintama, it was fun to watch Yoshitake and Hidenori “battle” each other during the whole kick the can event, but when they brought in Mitsuo things got even more hilarious! I swear if you need a voice for a male character that screams and freaks out easily you should always turn to Nobuhiko Okamoto. So, anyone notice Mitsuo has more screen time than the third main character Tadakuni? Like I said he is the Akarin of this series.

The introduction of Hidenori’s father played by Rikiya Koyama aka Emiya Kirtsugu for the Fate/Zero fans out there; man that was really great! Anyone else notice we usually do not see the father characters too often in anime, but yeah that character has a few screws loose like his two sons. I couldn’t help but laugh my ass off when he used that golf club to hit the baseball? BEST ANIME DAD EVER! There probably are way better dads out there in anime, right? And he calls Hidenori glasses? Wow, that was also quite funny to me.

And finally the newest girl to join the cast the over self-conscious woman! That girl made me laugh when she first sat by the river. I really thought for a moment that she would become the official rival for the original literature girl, but she proved to be more of a trickster than anything else. Good thing Yoshitake was there to give her a taste of her own messed up medicine, but I wonder if any guys out there have reacted like that when a girl sitting beside them decides to stand and walk away? Overall great episode this week! And the final episode airs next week… such sadness ahead of us, but we will make it just fine.

Preview

Tadakumi-“Finally they decided I was worthy enough to actually star in an episode.”

FINAL EPISODE! Tadakuni makes a special appearance at last.

Rikiya Koyama and Junichi Suwabe (the dude who talked with a random guy for why Ringo was the cutest girl), made this episode for me.

Not the best episode but man, the absence of Tadakuni is a bit weird. I thought it was just a gag but it’s gone way too long. Really like Habara getting all series, I had a Akiha flashback with her shenanigans, I swear. xD

    • Foshizzel says:

LOLOLOL that part was awesome and Ringo <3 <3 <3 <3

Truth not the best episode of all time, but they had some hilarious moments like the whole kick the can/gundam thing? so funny! Tadakuni has just been "missing" poor kid.

  2. The_Magus_Killer says:

Wow! The Magus Killer and Archer were in this episode? *Joji Nakata/Kotomine Kirei voice on* “Rejoice young man, your wish will finally be granted” XD

I was expecting the “Literature Girl BGM/OST” (can we even call it that?) to start playing when the title card showed “High School Boys and Literature Girl”, but that “Over Self-Conscious Woman” ruined the moment. How dare she!

I guess I became a hardcore shipper of Hidenori x Yassan/Literature Girl so much that I flipped the table when OVCW tried to take Yassan’s spot (and by extension, Hidenori’s love) on the riverbank. Yassan, put that girl in her place! No one will stand between Hidenori x Yassan! XD

GunPla collectors must have been a little heartbroken to see that Zaku II ripoff kicked to pieces. I know I did; I felt a twinge of hurt in my chest even though I only have one GunPla (a 1/144 Gundam X Divider) in my possesion. *Manly Tears for that Zaku II*

OMG. Habara is still ArchDemon deep down inside; she’s just waiting for an invitation to paint the town red with blood!

When I saw the evil aura coming out of her, I thought was going to scream, “BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE! MILK FOR THE KHORNE FLAKES!”, then transform into Archdemon!Habara and pound Ikushima and Yanagin into dust.

My wishes for the final episode: make it so good that my stomach is gonna hurt from the laughs. Make every character appear one last time. Animate the full fight between the ten kids versus Archedemon Habara. A manly-tear-inducing graduation ceremony. Make the “Highschool Girls Are Funky” trio perform as a band K-ON! style, with real instruments. And finally get these couples together (since the highschool boys had always wanted girlfriends anyway):

    1. Hidenori x Yassan/Literature Girl (The One True Pairing)
    2. Tadakuni x Nago-san (the original Nago, whether in chubby form or bishoujo form)
    3. Yoshitake x Overly Conscious Woman (crack pairing)
    4. Karasawa x Habara (YANDERE love is the purest love)
    5. Ringo-chan x Highschool_Boys!Student Council President (Tsundere and a Master Troll)

Also, a live action move or a OVA of Nichibros would be nice, don’t you guys think?

    • Foshizzel says:

Wow really? I knew the Magus Killer was in this episode but that is cool! It reminds me of Nichijou how they had some big shot actors come in to either record narration lines or play a random character like the “crow” So goooood!

I WANT THIS OST! Seriously they have some great music <3

Yeah watch out for Habara she plays very dirty and she is not afraid to use rocks to beat you with...LOLOL so evil.

That is one fantastic pairing list you got there I am sold on number one and five <3

  3. Cely_belly says:

Ha ha. Too funny! Poor Tadakuni D: I demand more Tadakuni. Next week better be all about Tadakuni!! >.<

  4. Joojoobees says:

I wonder what happened to Tadakuni. They don’t even show him in school. Maybe he went off on a journey of self-discovery.

  5. Jrow says:

I really liked this episode! I can’t think of one bit that really dragged things down. I thought they were all pretty funny, and this was Yoshitake’s character being the funniest he’s been all series. His trolling was hilarious, waited for the right moment, then just walked away. He took the power away from her!

Zaku NO!! Like Magus_Killer, I was thinking about that poor model kit and the money that got kicked away. Again, Yoshitake was hilarious posing as Karasawa, lol

First part with Hidenori’s dad was funny too! Guess they need to find some place to sleep for the next few days, lol

    • Foshizzel says:

Yoshitake is a great troll he always makes me laugh! I loved the whole train scene with him.

LOLOLOL Yeah that Zaku! Noooooooooooo! Mitsuo is crazy and he always gets either beaten up or trolled hardcore by the other guys.

Yeah I wonder what they did for sleep, but I guess he could smash a window to get into his house >.>

  6. Moni Chan says:

man this show is simply amazes me on how funny it is. I need to catch up to the series.

  7. Rakuen says:

“The Literature Girl is about to end your chapter”!? Oh my god, I laughed harder at that than anything in the episode. You are the king of puns, don’t you ever go changing.

Hidenori reminds me of Francis from L4D2, except he’s annoyed by everything instead of hating everything. I don’t care, it’s still funny.

And I am right there with you for a Ringo-centric anime. After the pantsu debacle, she more or less became my favorite character in the show.

    • Foshizzel says:

Thank you! I do love me some puns <3

LOLOL Yeah Hidenori is awesome and so hilarious xD

      Yeah Ringo for the win!
