Rinne no Lagrange – 04

Lan-“Time to start my epic quest…as soon as I learn how to swim…”

Hi Fosh! A swimsuit episode already?! You know, normally, swimsuits = fanservice, but maybe for Lagrange, it will be different. Plus this isn’t a harem anime. …Or is it. After watching this episode, I’m not so sure anymore.

Ku ku ku! More high flying mecha this week with Lagrange, after the fun we had with episode three I wonder what happens next? We already had a mecha fight with Madoka and Lan fighting against Kirius and Izo…I think we are in for some slice of life high school fun. Swimsuits sound great right about now Kara, the beach and fun in the sun…

Plot this week follows Muginami transferring to Madoka’s school followed by Lan joining too, before the episode ends the two alien girls live with Madoka.

Well Izo was catching up on his homework, and by homework I mean anime marathon of TTGL…

Starting this episode we follow Kirius and Izo in space! Where they return to their ship to find a huge mess inside. Someone should have locked up before rushing to fight cute earth girls, before Kirius can shout at Izo for not locking up he spots a large red ship heading right for them and it is no friend of theirs. While the space bishies deal with their problems, Muginami joins Madoka’s school as the new transfer student! HOORAY! But she plays the fool and totally acted like she never met Madoka before. Maybe Muginami has trouble remembering names?Probably all those mecha battles they wrecked her brain?

Muginami-“I like you Madoka you smell like flowers.”     Madoka-“Same to you cotton candy haired girl.”

Hentai in full HD? Good to see the commander squeezing in time for more anime.

Meanwhile Yoko and Todokoro arrive at the school to talk to Ms. Iwabunchi about Madoka’s latest mecha adventure. This does not go over well with Ms. Iwabunchi at all! Because they actually have a rule about students piloting giant robots… Anime laws about mecha are crazy man, imagine that rule in Star Driver? Poor Takuto would fail to keep that rule in check. After Todokoro took a beating from Ms. Iwabunchi, however Madoka tells them she is perfectly fine with piloting the Vox aka Midori and Yoko comes up with a brilliant plan for the Jersey club. That plan is to hold a swimming competition to help the locals get over the OMG A GIANT ROBOT SMASHED MY HOUSE tragedy just to show the aliens hey! We are not afraid of you! Yes nothing says fearless like girls in swimsuits.

Iwabunchi-“YOU GOT TO FIGHT WITH GUTS MADOKA! LOTS OF GUTS!”

This looks so easy to draw I mean like copy paste swimsuit and change hair color! Just kidding…

Before the swimming competition starts Todokoro spots Lan floating on a small raft with a pair of binoculars, so she can keep an eye on Madoka and she spots Muginami joining the fun. As the race starts Lan notices Muginami vanished from her view, but unknown to Lan Muginami swam under her raft and flipped it over! Damn girl…you are a hardcore alien…however she watches as Lan drowns, but she gives Lan CPR and saves her life. I thought she was an assassin? I guess she has a heart of gold? After the mouth to mouth scene Madoka drags Muginami to her house and instantly recruits her blond friend to join the Jersey Club. Hooray fresh blood, Muginami even helps out at the restaurant and it makes Lan really jealous because she tries to do it too but she fails pretty badly…the poor girl trips and spills drinks. Before the night ends Madoka asks Muginami to live with her until she finds a place of her own, sadly this puts Lan in OH HELL NO! THAT’S MY GIRRRRLLL mode…

Lan-“what? I really love that song…I can’t help but sing it in my sleep every night.”

Muginami swimming into your heart causing some hnnnggggg deaths.

Lan-“Well that is not good, I hope a cute mermaid saves my life…”

Lan-“FUUUUU! That is no mermaid! But an alien girl is fine too.”

Madoka-“Hey dad can we pimp out my two alien girlfriends? THINK OF THE MONEY!”

Meanwhile Yoko and Souta do some science based stuff and discover some ancient relics regarding the various marks found on the girls bodies. Madoka’s is wind, Lan’s is water, and Muginami’s means fire! Oh wow Lan I think you really should switch marks with Madoka…Seriously water hates you. The next day we learn that Lan also joined Madoka’s school and moves in with her along with Muginami! That did not take long now did it?during the night Array managed a little prison break with some help from “The-evil-character-that-looks-like-wild-tiger” and escapes into space ending this episode.

Anti-Kotetsu-“Man I look great in these pants!”                          Izo-“Dude…those are my pants…”

Array-“LATER SUCKERS! Ooooh look a dolphin, I wonder if I can bring it home as a pet…”

Extra Mecha fun

Madoka-“see this is what yuri looks like.”                   Muginami-“Ooooh wow earthlings sure are fun…”

Madoka-“Where did all these girls come from?!”             Muginami-“Sorry I left the clone machine on again.”

Todokoro-“Thou shall not ride inside metal giants, even on Sunday.”                   Madoka-“Whoaaaaaa…”

Lan-“Nothing weird about me! Just a normal girl from earth…woof…”

End thoughts

Muginami desu! This episode was hilarious. That whole waitress scene with Muginami and Lan was so funny (well, not so much Mugi, but the whole thing with Lan being extremely clumsy was). Lan seems the type who would be prefect at everything while Mugi seems more the type to trip on a perfectly flat and level floor. Nice role reversal! There seems to be some uhhh… tension between Lan and Mugi. Madoka seems to be caught in a triangle that I’m pretty sure that she isn’t even aware of. Hell, I don’t even know if Mugi is aware of it (though I do bet that she knows more than she lets on). Either way, the yuri levels are extremely high, but this is still extremely entertaining for me. I can’t wait to find out more on Muginami’s character.

HOLY CRAP KOTETSU, WTF ARE YOU DOING HERE AND WHY ARE YOU EVIL?! Or at least he looks evil with that flashy fur coat. But seriously, it looks JUST LIKE HIM. I guess the space bishies are perfectly okay with joining him even though he probably trashed their space ship? I don’t even know. What I do know is that I think I’ve found my favorite antagonist(?)s of the season. Since it looks like Anti-Kotetsu (that’s my name for him now) will be meeting Madoka next episode, I’m excited to see what his personality is actually like. Now all we need is an Anti-Barnaby. SOMEONE MAKE IT HAPPEN!

So we’ve got the 3 robots, they have their own color and now they have their own element too. Why do I feel like I’m watching a reeeeeeeally old mahou shoujo? I mean, the colours are convenient to tell the robot apart and all, but once you give each robot their own element, I immediately flash back to my childhood and link this stuff I used to watch. I mean, I loved things like that as a kid, but now all I can think of is Magic Knight Rayearth. Don’t get me wrong, I still like Rayearth and there’s nothing wrong with Lagrange, but randomly adding in the elements just makes the whole idea seem outdated to me. …But that could just be me. But this show does have a ton of similarities to Rayearth now that I think about it. Let’s just hope some blonde girl doesn’t show up and ask Madoka to save her world. As for the evil overlord, it looks like Anti-Kotetsu has that covered.

Oh ma god! This episode was a lot of fun we finally got to meet the famous Muginami! That girl is soooooo much fun…and yes Kara! Mugi desu all the way…she is so sneaky and very interesting to watch, just what is she? Alien assassin sent to kill Madoka and Lan? Or perhaps she is just a spy sent to earth by that evil alien or “Anti-Kotetsu” as Kara calls him? Either way she was eyeballing Madoka like she was some prize. However I don’t think Muginami is truly evil because she did give Lan CPR saving her life. Then again it could just be be an elaborate trick just to gain the girls trust.

Watching that whole restaurant scene with Muginami and Lan was absolutely hilarious! I still felt bad for Lan…that poor girl just made friends with Madoka and here comes another girl stealing her new best friend away! Its alright Lan you still have your fans out here in the real world…and to make matters worse Muginami can swim? And she is going to live with Madoka? Lan you have some serious work to do if you want to keep up that special friendship you have with Madoka…And agreed Kara! They have color themed mechs and now awesome elements? I think Lan got the short end of the deal with the whole water element…maybe we got some Aquarion influence? I will laugh my ass off if the girls combine their machines together.

Anyway this episode was filled with lots of comedy thanks to Muginami and Lan, but we also got more science stuffs like the relics…that shot of Souta and Yoko in the lab reminded me of Stargate! They just needed a large metallic ring in the background to complete the shot. And Array escaped! I wonder who freed that kid? Lets place the blame on evil space Kotetsu! Who looks just like Madoka’s dad…whoa…freaky…maybe that is Madoka’s uncle? MUHAHAHAHA.

 Preview

Lan so Hnngggg this week hugging her whale.

    *cough* As previously stated WILD-O TIGER!!!! I should really watch this show -_-;

(You rock Jrow <— for comment saving. Shizzel-Kun just rocks in general XD)

    • Foshizzel says:

Lolol yep WILD-O TIGER IN SPACE! I guess the creators of Rinne no Lagrange loved his design? I guess the goatee is a bit different but still very much like Tiger.

HOORAAAY Jrow! Comment saver, d’awww thanks Kitty xD

  2. BlackBriar says:

Muginami is a bit soft in the head and a potential yandere with the way she threw Lan into the sea. Loved the part where she was giving Lan CPR and for obvious reasons. LOL. She’s totally hiding something.

Nice picture of Lan at the bottom of the post. She’s very cute there.

Looks like we might get a reason as to why the “bad guys” from the previous episodes did what they did. There’s still no solid info on the guy who escaped the prison.

The commander’s having an off day. Getting put down by hot girls at every turn. Poor guy.

    • Foshizzel says:

Yep! There is something very mysterious about Muginami…she did glare a few times at Madoka! LOL Yes CPR on your target…good idea? Unless she is really not “evil” Cause a lot of the characters feel like they are just misunderstood.

      Agreed! Moe moe Lan! <3

Right that mystery tiger look alike is probably the leader or something like that.

      • Karakuri says:

Mugi would be a great evil character. I think it would really boost the plot’s value for me. …Assuming that this show even has a plot.

        • Foshizzel says:

LOLOL I can picture Mugi smiling happily as she murders everyone…

          • BlackBriar says:

I can picture that, but I wonder if she’d have a knife in her hand while murdering everyone.. Classic choice for yanderes.

  3. Bob from Accounting says:

*Is on Team Lan* Draw the battle lines. The real war starts here.

  4. amado says:

production IG is now finally doing good in this anime original, unlike certain ones *looks at bloodC and GC*

anyway, interesting to note how lan and muginami are both opposites, or at least how opposite they are.
lan looks like a serious person but is a klutz while muginami looks like a ditz but is quite sharp.

oh and I now call BS on their statement last week that there is no romance in the show. you dont need to look too closely to see it(well maybe not for me).

this season has plenty of yuri, which translates to a great season.
and people said that winter was weak… well, until madoka magica came along…

    • Foshizzel says:

Agreed! I love the production work so far and yeah unlike bloodC and GC…

Yep! Lan and Muginami are totally opposites…I was shocked to see Lan screw up so much during the episode! Poor girl…she just needs a hug from Madoka to fix things.

I am with you there! There may not be any full blown “parings” but fans will easily ship certain characters together.

Yuri all over the place! In Rinne no Lagrange and Mouretsu pirates <3

      • BlackBriar says:

Too bad we’re only looking at half of the entire series right now as this will be cut in two and the second half will air in the summer time. I understand it’s same case for Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon.

And about yuri this season. Don’t forget Nobara from Inu x Boku SS and that scientist Ryoko from Senki Zesshou Symphogear.

        • Foshizzel says:

I know! So sad….so very sad indeed! But I guess it makes things exciting? Hopefully we don’t have a terrible cliffhanger episode for the “final” before the long break.

Damn…I forgot about Boku SS and Symphogear…ALL THE DAMN YURI xD

          • BlackBriar says:

Damn, I forgot to add Mao, Hinata’s best friend from Mirai Nikki and Nisemonogatari’s Suruga Kanbaru.

    • Karakuri says:

Yes! The opposites! I like how they did that. It breaks away from the cliche.

No, I see it clearly too. Sooo much yuri, it’s not even funny. …Not that I find yuri hilarious in the first place, but you get what I’m saying.

  5. Joojoobees says:

This show still makes no sense 4 episodes in. There is some sort of interstellar war that even high school principals can be brought up to speed on, but not the audience, WTF?

I’m guessing, based on this episode, that the real aim of this show is a harem comedy with alien girlfriend, punctuated by mech a fights.

    • Foshizzel says:

LOLOLOL Yeaaaahhh what is up with that? Clearly the locals saw TWO GIANT ROBOTS Fighting in the streets…you would think the government would show up to explain things.

Possibly yes! That or three cute girls pilot mechs to save the day? And plenty of comedy, fanservice and yuri pairings…yes…

    • Karakuri says:

I wish I knew what the plot was. I really do.

AHAHAHA harem comedy indeed. Well at least the mecha fights look pretty good. Have to give them credit for that much.

  6. skylion says:

OK. Seriously. Is there going to be an anime this season, that I am watching, that doesn’t have a yuri element? Not that I am complaining. I loves me some yuri. I’m 40 years old, post-divorce, and all my hot chicks really are MILFs. And in a decade, it’s gonna be GILFs. By all means, give me some vicarious yuru yuri. It’s just, I know, sometimes trends can run to a sour note in future. Will this become cliche? Am I overthinking it?

Good gravy, why do I have to be so fsking old.

    • Karakuri says:

Well yaoi implications was kind of a phase last year. …Maybe the yuri will pass? I hope it doesn’t become cliche (though one could argue that 99% of anime has yuri implications somewhere).

    • Foshizzel says:

Sad but true! Well us guys got DxD, Aquarion EVOL and a few harem shows…I wish we had another season of Haganai! I miss my weekly dose of MEAT and Rika goodness <3 <3 But yes there is a lot of damn yuri all over this season of anime...course most of it is my own doing lolol

  7. anaaga says:

Ok ok, so what’s going on? The sexy bishies live in a broken ship. I assume that the Kotetsu dude destroyed it? Or maybe that ship is actually a destroyed colony! *is watching too much Gundam* My guess right now is that they need the Vox from earth for revenge?
Whatever, they’re hot, and they have homolust with each other. That’s all that matters to me

I love how this Kotetsu dude wears read leather pants and fur jacket like Izaya’s He’s just fabulous

Ah Rayearth, I love that thing… Until the red hair chick ended up dating two hot guys. Well, implied. BUT STILL! I dig him with Lantis goddamn it! GGGGGRRRR
