Mirai Nikki – 05

Dude, she’s not a Pokemon…

Well, turns out England gets just as cold as Scotland when winter starts to hit. So just imagine the words as muffled when you’re reading this as I am just a pair of eyes peeking out from under all the layers of jumpers at the moment. Brrr~

A flashback to Sixth’s childhood exposits aspects of the cult; it seems it was always the cheery place we saw last episode, chock full of exploitation, rape and bastard parents. Oh, and its all in sepia…because sepia makes everything more intense! Back in real time, eyeball-guy reveals to Ninth that he is the owner of the Righteous Diary; a diary that records criminal behaviour. Eyeball-guy says he foresaw the terrible atrocities that the Scared Eye would commit and so infiltrated their ranks. He tosses Ninth the keys and tells her to escape before things start going BOOM.

Twelfth wants YOU to join the fight (and to stop raping blind chicks. Srsly, it’s not nice)

Eyeball-guy (Twelfth), interrupts Yuki and co’s escape wanting to kill Sixth. Yuno just axes him in the face, though and crisis is averted. She seems to be running a fever so when the followers attack and apprehend them she is subdued easily. Turns out Sixth really is a bitch and turns around with the intention to kill the two. Not content with her current level of bitchiness, Sixth precedes to make out with Yuki just to infuriate Yuno some more. Naturally this Doesn’t go down to well an it’s back to axing people! Yuno manages to save Yuki but ends up getting caught herself due to her fever.

Hell hath no fury like a yandere denied her stalkee’s virgin lips~

She decides to broadcast the rape of Yuno across the temple grounds to try and get Yuki to show himself. He bursts in axe swinging and faces off against all of Sixth’s followers. He manages to dart her Diary, thus destroying her and both Yuki and Yuno are rescued. In the car Yuno falls asleep on Yuki’s shoulder and he realises that while she may have her faults (understatement of the century) she does really love him and wants to protect him. He thanks her with a kiss~

Have you kissed your stalker today?

END THOUGHTS

Wow, they got rid of two Diary owners in one episode. Things are moving very fast, and this episode had me worring that maybe it was a little too fast. Twelfth seemed totally superfluous (not to mention annoying) and Sixth’s backstory felt very rushed and underdeveloped. She was still a good character, but had about as much depth as Ninth at the moment but without the advantage of still being alive so we could see a little more. Thinking about it these last two episodes, or “Sixth’s arc”, they really rubbed me the wrong way. It all seemed a bit too goofy after some of the really creepy scenes in episode 3.

Still, lots of progress on the Yuki/Yuno front. This was a big episode for Yuki, not only did save Yuno, not run away like a pansy ass twat, and kill Sixth, but he actually acknowledged Yuno’s feelings for him and reciprocated them. The kiss was sweet. The one between Yuki and Yuno…not Yuki and Sixth. That was just funny. “Don’t defile Yuki!” Yuno says, only because that’s her job. Kekekekeke.Yuno’s random fever took her down a few notches on the badass scale but nevertheless she had some great yandere faces this time, as always.

I am glad Twelfth is dead. I haven’t seen such an annoying character in quite a while and he really didn’t have any place in this series. It’s a shame cause I actually thought his design could have been quite freaky, well…maybe not the skintight jumpsuit…or the rainbow colours towards the end there. In fact, nevermind. I don’t know what I’m talking about. I’m itching for the start of a new arc now that Sixth and Twelfth are out of the way. And I’m also looking forward to seeing how far these “moments” between Yuki and Yuno go. I wonder when Yuki’s going to get another taster of just how dangerous she is and want to back out. Oh, I bet Yuno will just loooove that.

Yuno is posessed. That pink haired murderess sure doesn’t hold back when she’s in a psychotic killing spree. I love it when she’s whacked out. And Sixth stealing Yuki’s first kiss sent her even more over the edge. She picked off Twelfth easily, too easily that it was anti-climactic. But why did they have to censor Sixth’s hand being severed? Damn it! It’s not like we’re first timers to seeing severed body parts.

Lol. Sixth called Yuki a virgin and kissed him. I imagine she personally plans to rob him of his virginity. She couldn’t keep her hands off of him. Speaking of which, why hasn’t she or Yuno tried to hogtie, torture him and string him up to the ceiling? He’s like a sitting duck.

What happened to Sixth after her parents died and what they were about to do to Yuno gave me an uneasy Bible Black feel. There’s something about Sixth I just don’t understand. I mean she was made into an offering then repeatedly drugged and raped by her own followers. All of that has been done to her, so why didn’t she think of creating a misleading plan to get revenge on the same bastards she’s using to capture Yuki and Yuno? That just doesn’t make any sense to me.

    • Hime says:

I know! Was really put off by that random censorship. Luckily a lot of Mirai Nikki’s scariness is psychological. You’d think with all the mentions of rape a little severed hand would be tame.

Threesome, anyone? In all seriousness, I do wonder how Yuno can contain herself if she is so obsessed with Yuki. Personally I would quite like to see him hogtied, goddamit Aki, you’ve given me a new fetish! Nah, I kid, I might have a few episodes ago, but I actually like his character. And he definately proved he has some, if tiny, balls in this episode.

A lot of her motivation doesn’t make sense. Really she didn’t have any reason to want to destroy the whole world, really she should only want to kill the people that abused her. Oh, well. Can’t judge the crazies!

It is like putting honey in front of a bear!

For curious reason, I am watching this instead of Fate / Zero…I wonder why.

    That girl is really psycho!

    • Hime says:

It really is, I’m biting my own knuckles here in restraint.

As for Fate / Zero anything associated with Fate/Stay Night characters is fucking awful

“People die when they are killed.”

      Need I say more?

      • Kyokai says:

You shouldn’t compare a story just because DEEN fucked up its adaptation. Fate/stay night VN was brilliant and Fate/Zero adaptation is better than Madoka.

        • Hime says:

I know I shouldn’t, but I can’t foget just how bastardized and irritating DEEN’s characters were. Everytime I see the them that old urge to punch them just stops me enjoying it.

          • anaaga says:

Man, Fate/Stay Night anime was just….*facepalm* the story is so good, but the anime… T_T Shirou should’ve been in Bleach. Nobody dies there

Woooo Hoooo Yukio killing people and Yuno too! Amazing stuff like always <3 And that stripping of Yuno!! Noooooo T___T

I wanted to make some hand jokes about the girl with the missing hand still I laughed <3 Her death was full of fail! Seriously that tiny hole in the scroll defeated her? Lol...weak but ah well better to get it over and done with.

    • Hime says:

I know, I’m torn on whether or not Yuki killing everyone with a dart is totally badass or pathetically lame.

      • BlackBriar says:

I’d say Yuki killing everyone with a dart is badass because he doesn’t miss his target, it always hits. Ninth found that out first hand. He’s sniper material.

  5. Reaper says:

Well, I didn’t expect Sixth to have that kind of back story, makes me sorry for her since that’s why she wanted to become God and destroy everything in the ‘Unseen’ world ala everything. As for Twelfth…he seemed dangerous when he first caught Uryuu but now…he was just a joke, a hilarious joke with his transformation scenes (especially with the Power Rangers reference, that took me back…). Also, it might not warrant it but lack of censoring? Bit of a surprise since we’ve seen…well, I wouldn’t say ‘better’, because it doesn’t sound right, but ‘less risque’ stuff being censored compared to Yuno’s scene. Hm, guess they didn’t want to risk invoking Yuno’s yandereness in taking away her spotlight…Sixth tried to and well…she got a Dead End.

    • Hime says:

I felt sorry for her, but I think her showing her true colours as a cold, caniving bitch at the end was very cool to see. Regardless of what happened to her, if she had been crying all the time and needy it would really have bogged things down.

      • Reaper says:

I agree, that twist was very..satisfying? It was just how she ended that awas a little sad, (and hilarious) with her stump wrists, trying to reach for the ball, the only keepsake from the only people that loved her…properly anyawy. Yeah, I don’t want think Yuno would be appreciative of a whiny girl to tag along in what could have been a menage a trois…and Yukkii would probably die before he even gets in there 🙂

        • Hime says:

It was a bit XD God, we are so evil.

          • BlackBriar says:

Yeah, it’s always fun when we’re watching the characters suffer something terrible and then get a big laugh out it. God, we’re such sadists. XD

  6. Anonomyous says:

The fever isn’t random actually. Remember Yuno peering through the mail slot? Then remember that it was raining that day.

As for 12th, it might have been to make people sit up to the fact that things are not as they seem. 12th is (supposedly) an ally of justice but his actions from the last 2 episodes are at first, those of a villain.

His diary does not record criminal acts i think, which is what 4th’s diary does. From what can be made out, the diary is actully what acts would fufil his sense of right and wrong. Given his wierd thinking, his right and wrong is not going to be legally based or bound

  8. TheVoid says:

I like Twelfth more than Yuki and Yuno. He was the Hero Mirai Nikki deserved.

  9. Overcooled says:

Really? I liked the Twelfth a lot! He had some weird mannerisms and a sunny disposition for a show where people get their hands lopped off, but he was a nice change of pace. Maybe it’s my penchant for cheesy drama shining through, but I liked that underneath all the crazy he was just a guy trying to do good things. Everything he did was for justice, and yet he was treated like a dog until the very end. No glory for the good guys in a show like Mirai Nikki, huh?

Also, holy crap, Yuno is awesome. I can not state how much I love this girl in words.

    • Hime says:

I kind of saw him like Light from Death Note, if he was high on acid…

I feel the same about Yuno! She is this show.

  10. Alynn says:

YUNOOO YUNOOOO. hnnnnnggg I swear I love so many of the female characters in this show. I started to like Tsubaki in this episode.

    Twelfth and the trash. LOLLL

  11. anaaga says:

    Vvvrrrr vvrrrr vvrrrrr

*high five* Twelfth is so annoying, not to mention his weird costume. That’s some kind of cheap ass costume there, even Power Ranger does it better.

And that kiss between Yukki and Tsubaki…Yuck

  12. Joojoobees says:

I actually liked the speed the past two episodes moved at, because the pace at which characters were swapping between being good and bad was disconcerting. It really kept me wondering what would happen next.

  13. Bob from Accounting says:

You on crack? Twelth was great. Yes, he ended up being fodder for Yuno’s blade but that only adds to his legend. For those few episodes where he pranced around like a fool and completely stole the show from all the fairly out of place rape themes (seriously, what the hell?), I will remember and thank him always.

Anyway, Future Diary is absolutely brilliant. It’s just so much… fun.

  14. Toori-chan says:

    Fun filled with bloodsheds.

    • Hime says:

Is there any other way to have fun?

      • BlackBriar says:

We could add tragedy and situations that questions people’s morals. It’s so fun to watch them squirm while they struggle with such things.

  15. Kyokai says:

For the record, Yuno is my favourite yandere. And I want to hate Ganta… oh sorry, Yukiteru but at least he has SOME plus points. >.>

    • Hime says:

The Deadman Parallels are endless xD

Ganta and Shiro would totally kick Yuno and Yuki’s ass though. Just saying.

      • BlackBriar says:

Get all four of them in the same room together and then things will get really interesting since both girls are yanderes.

  16. Elyon says:

YUKKI’S VIRGIN LIPS HAVE BEEN DEFILED! D:< I loved his expression though that whole time.

I kind of agree that Twelfth was really underused. I've always felt like there were just two many diary owners and most of them don't last long enough to become memorable.

    • Hime says:

It was so D: the uke in a yaoi

Yeah, think of how many they’ve killed off already and this is a 26 episode series. I sense fillers ahead. *shudders*

  17. Sabine says:

The episode went so fast as this post O.O XD Short but effective, serious business going on in the show..

    • Hime says:

Haha, they are quite easy to summarise and I don’t like to drone on. Unless I’m ranting. Then it’s mandatory.

  18. amado says:

why do you not like 12th? as overcooled said, he may be crazy but at least he’s doing what is right.
he helped 9th escape and treated her infected eye. he was smart in infiltrating 6th defense. he tried helping old ladies and stopped robberies. hell, he was willing enough to do a suicide attack since he was going to die anyway(he had a dead end), might as well stop a girl who would wipe out the world.

and 6th dug her own grave. in the manga, she kissed him as her “thanks” for saving her, not realizing that it would put her back on the dead end list. she might have survived if she didnt kiss yuki.

    • Hime says:

Because I think I know what they were trying to do with him and it doesn’t creep me out, which is what I want this show to do. If they were trying to offset all the dark stuff with this flamboyantly disturbed guy – which he is (prancing about in an eye costume, no matter if you have good intentions or not, is prety fucking weird) to add another level to the madness then it doesn’t work for me. Plus these kind of characters have always irritated me. I just find it a little too crackish and silly.

I loved that moment in the first episode (or was it the second?) where Yuki and Yuno make their first kill and immediately afterwards Yuno asks Yuki out on a date. THAT was really creepy to me, and far more entertaining. I just prefer the sublte stuff to a “misunderstood” nutter who dresses up like the Power Rangers.

And if he wasn’t meant to be creepy then by being so over the top he is tremendously out of place anyway. Attempts at humor, like Yuno loosing her swimsuit in the pool, are tragically unfunny to me and are nothing but cringe worthy filler. If they were trying to make a point about unsung heroes then fine, but they could have made him a lot less insane and a lot more likeable. To me he was just waste of time.
