Kamisama Dolls – 02
Training with video games.
Hello and welcome to another episode review of Kamisama Dolls! This week I am filling in for Hime. So far summer seems to be going quite well for me as I haven’t found anything to drop yet. I was going to drop Ikoku Meiro no Croisee, but after talking to Zabo I decided to continue watching it. So far it’s not as bad as I originally thought. Well, it’s time to get this review for Kamisama rolling! Enjoy.
Plot this week picks up with Utao doing some training with Kukuri at the park with Kyouhei and Hibino. While Utao trains, they hear an explosion from the woods. They find out afterwards that it was actually Kuuko one of Hibino and Kyouhei’s fellow classmates saved by Utao from danger. Hibino in the mean time is trying to learn more about Kyouhei and the mysterious village.
Kukuri- “Worship me and I will give you lots of candy.” Utao- “Yes…master…”
We get to find out how Utao and her super cool Kukuri first got paired up. It looks like she had to give the machine some of her own blood, which serves as the “contract” to control the kamisama. And it also appears that Utao got the hang of controlling it and got somewhat used to the idea of being partners. Sure little girls and robots are the perfect combination! After the fun flashback, we join Utao doing some training while Kyouhei and Hibino watch her work. Meanwhile in the woods we have a new character named Kuuko Karahari, leader of the True Science Club stomping around with her slave. She is really excited at the idea of finding something mysterious to study; however her assistant isn’t so happy and demands to quit.
Having your own personal robot makes traveling easy.
Kyouhei- “Yep, don’t stare at Hibino’s rockets, just stare at the squares.”
Kuuko is searching for her stash of drugs to use on her partner.
While the trio takes a break to enjoy some food prepared by Hibino, Kuuko’s busy in trying to convince her lab partner to stay and help her out. Kuuko’s lab partner has other ideas and attempts to leave only to make her angry. Before the guy can successfully run away, she breaks one of his fingers and chases him back to the car. Kuuko slams the door of the lab building and causes a chain reaction knocking over a bunsen burner, which triggers a large fire and then explosion. This series of events end up trapping Kuuko and her partner in the car while the fire spreads with many explosions.
Kuuko- “Don’t leave me, we can study something extra I promise…”
Fire makes Kukuri so angry that it has to feed on cars to cool his rage.
Utao sees the fire and sends her doll in to save the day! She really wants to impress her brother and gets the feeling that he doesn’t like Kukuri at all. But he tells Utao that he’s proud of her and she saves Kuuko and her partner from danger, well barely. The next day Kuuko tells Kyohei and Hibino about the strange events from the previous day, giving them a start. We also learn Kuuko’s dad is investigating the murder and strange events around Kyouhei’s apartment; better hide the evidence Kyouhei. While the others are out, Utao plays some video games and uses Kukuri to play until she breaks the system after the doll smashes it. WAY TO GO! I was waiting for her doll to wreck something eventually ahahaha.
Kyohei- “You read my fan fiction of Ao no Exorcist?!”

Even Kukuri has to cry about those crap graphics on that game.
While on the way home, Hibino tries her best to ask Kyouhei some questions about the village, sadly he does not spill any information. But he does answer that he doesn’t want to deal with the village anymore or the dolls, or even his sister. Damn, I guess he really does want to forget everything and move on. After arriving home to see Utao working at the cafe, Hibino goes all cute mode wanting to hug Utao and dress her up as a maid. Yes, that would be perfect, if she did wear one! Anyway, Hibino asks her father if he knows Kyouhei’s secrets, but he doesn’t have anything to reveal to her. The episode ends with Kyouhei remembering a small tragic event from the past, lots of black and white and dead people all over the floor as he screams at Aki.
Utao- “What’s your problem?” Hibino-“D’awww she’s cute when she’s angry.”
Let me give you a hand and some legs and uhh…yea.

Kukuri-“Yes…all according to plan, the humans will die! Muhahahha!!”
Utao- “Homework is done! Time for all that porn…er I mean manga.”
End Thoughts:
Well, not a bad second episode! Finally some background on Utao and how she got paired up with Kukuri. I still want to know where the dolls come from. Maybe they are made somewhere and then they get paired up with children? We can only guess at this point and hopefully we get some answers soon. I did find Utao’s training a bit weird, I was joking with my brother saying it’s like she’s playing on the Wii or something; it just looked funny. Kukuri does look like something you would connect to a Wii thanks to the colors of course; imagine having your own giant floating robot! I wouldn’t mind having one but then again I would smash things by mistake. I wonder how Hibino will react to her console being wrecked? Well, Utao can just give her a cute smile to cover up the damages or even do a maid cosplay.
Anyone else find the new character Kuuko to be fun? She is super aggressive towards guys! Maybe she has a thing for the weak or something like that. She does enjoy breaking their fingers. Damn Kyouhei better watch out for that one. And of course Kuuko is related to the detective searching around Kyouhei’s apartment; you would think they could show him the massive doll they are hiding to prove things. Then again that might not be the best idea ever, the detective would think it’s just a dangerous weapon. Kuuko is lucky she didn’t set the woods on fire! But I did laugh when Utao dropped Kuuko and her partner into the water! Ahahah smooth driving there, Utao.
Now for Kyouhei’s past we do get bits and pieces of his strange memories thrown at us. I assume he had a doll that went on a rampage? Probably thanks to Aki killing everyone! That last black and white scene made Aki look so much like Accelerator from Index! He should trade voice actors with Kyouhei, then again we do get that famous Accelerator or Rin scream whichever you like more. Now I wonder how Kyouhei will deal with Utao? He did say he didn’t want anything to do with her or the village. I thought that line was a bit of crap! After all the first half he was happy to watch her train, unless he was just saying that to make her feel better? Either way sounds like he really hates having to deal with the dolls.

Yes and we learned how to smash cars.
Next week, a mysterious guy with glasses fights Kyouhei and Aki arrives to have some face to face time with him. Maybe we will see Kukuri kick some ass next episode? Let’s see.

This was better than first episode, which really didn’t grab my attention. I want to know what happened with Kyouhei and soon (hopefully, it won’t be dragged to stupid bits). Nobuhiko’s screams are quite delish, I can bet only Aki can activate them with his madness.
Music wise, I love the OP, like srsly. And I can’t get the doll sound out of my head! >.<

Agreed Kyo way better episode this week than the first episode, of course I want to know more about Kyouhei and Aki’s past together and what happened to all those people.

Kyohei is another in a long line of weak-hearted cassanova male characters. That Kukuri has some eerie music whenever it flies around. I could’ve sworn it was the music for that creepy village.
Creepy music for a creepy village closed off in the mountains. That’s vaguely familiar, isn’t it?
Well, after seeing Kuuko’s antics, I’m glad I wasn’t there pointing at her, it’s too dangerous. And she’s dictator material. She needs no members but slaves.

This is sad but true, Kyouhei fails sooo much! But I guess he has his reasons I assume something bad happened with his own doll and killed a bunch of people at his village.
True that song Kukuri sings does sound a bit creepy, yeah I have read some get some Higurashi feelings from that village and it does have a creeeepy sound as well.
Ahaha Kuuko! She is now my new favorite character and bossy to the guys it made me laugh xD

I was going into more of the Shiki or Deadman Wonderland type of music. This show has two in common with those two: unforgiving massacre and dark secrets.
If you value your fingers to stay intact, keep your distance from Kuuko. She keeps sticking her nose where it doesn’t belong and shouldn’t be surprised if anything bad happens to her.

Yeah that is soooo true! That village has some secrets and tons of mysteries, I hope we learn everything soon.
LOL Kuuko! She is my favorite so far <3 Yeah she will break your fingers T__T True she might be getting into things that are more than she can handle, but she does seem to be tough.

I thought it was a good episode although I like Aki a bit more than Kuuko (and I’m not the biggest fan of Aki either). She’s a little crazy and aggressive for me, haha! xD
