C: The Money of Soul and Possibility Control – 09 & 10

Technology is Evil, Don’t Trust It~

Two weeks ago my internet went down. I think it’s fair to say that my family and I LOST OUR COLLECTIVE SHIT. Seriously, it was like we’d been plunged into the Dark Ages or something. Brawls for control of the TV remote ensued. Frigging Cludeo was pulled from the back of the cupboard and dusted off. I got through three books and half of my DVD collection, wrote a short story and signed up for a singing coach. And everyone was feeling that strain of, ugh, actually having to communicate with one another. Things were bad, but then, Hallelujah! At the cost of a new router, the internet flared back into life yesterday. An audible sigh of relief was heard throughout the house as the tension flooded out of everyone. Peace was restored. Well, that was until it cut out again…

So, yeah, I’m posting this from a borrowed computer. Apologies if it seems rushed, but it’s the best that I can do at the moment.

We start off with some, actually pretty good engrish, of people discussing about the financial crisis and its continual collapse. They mention project [C] but not in any comprehensible detail. As the real world and financial district assimilate and disappear, along with Assets, Masakaki looks over the chaos, grinning. Mikuni goes to him to make a Deal that will take 20 years off his future but even as he’s doing this Singapore disappears off the map and Hong Kong is grazed by the crisis, along with Shanghai.

He is made privy to all of the futures that will be destroyed by the Midas money in the deal he makes with Masakaki, just ’cause, yano…he is essentially killing them all and he needs that extra level of guilt to go along with his rising desperation. Whatever he did though seems to work as the rapid digitisation of countries stops just short of his face. Tad close there, Mikuni, don’t you think?

[C] is revealed to be the future wipe sweeping the nations, as Kimimaro and Sato disclose later after things have settled down. Kimimaro also finds out that his Father’s Asset is the spitting image of MSYU. Sato explains to him that this is the bond he shares with his Father, and that it means he really was loved. D’aww, nothing like a bit of compassion before the digitisation of your human soul.

Kimimaro goes to visit Hanabi only to find her depressed and looking very worn out. The world starts to shift again; busy parks teeming with children changing into slums filled with hobos. And when Kimimaro races back to check on Hanabi he finds her catatonic, muttering crazily to herself.

And then 10…

America is now stepping in to try and stop the ripple effect [C] has had on the worlds’ currency. Mikuni goes back to Masakaki to make another Deal, despite it not working the first time. Talk about a spending spree! But seriously, Mikuni…You’re doing more harm than good. Quit it, already! He’s able to do this because he has a Darkness card which, to be honest, I’d probably abuse too because it looks so badass. Kimimaro and Sato plot to take it from him in order to stop his new found rampant craziness.

Oh, and it turns out Megane guy is a traitor. Way to pull a Rokuro on us, dude.

So, while Sato faces off against Mikuni, we see Kimimaro take on that creepy guy with the love-heart shirt. Kimimaro takes on the brunt of attacks himself and gets a thorough pasting before MSYU steps in.

They do share a nice moment before she takes centre stage though, before blowing their opponent away with her deus ex machina awesome fire power.

Sato seems to be doing pretty well against Mikuni…until Q shows up. Psychotic. Sato sadly dies, entrusting her big wolf Asset to Kimimaro, who just arrived on the scene to confront Mikuni. He tries to reason with him but it seems he’s too far gone. Time for Kimimaro to pull his trumph card. No, literally. He has had a Darkness card all this time. With it he’ll be able to reverse what Mikuni’s done, if he beats him in a Deal that is.

YOU ARE BANKRUPT!

Can I take it that the “LOVE” sign means, they are in Ikebukuro?

Yes, the computer has a sexually transmitted infection. Bummer.

Because I can’t resist the reference;…. “It’s time to D-D-D-D-Duel!”

Happy Father’s Day!

END THOUGHTS

Mikuni sure went insane fast, didn’t he? I thought his plan would lead to less death, not more. He’s now officially entered Lelouch territory with the crazy lengths he’s going to to secure his sister’s future. It doesn’t make me like him any less though, he’s always been the shadow antagonist in [C], even when he seemed to have Kimimaro’s best interests at heart you could tell if it came down to it he’d bankrupt him in a heartbeat. And, low and behold, that’s exactly what it’s come down to! I’m excited to see their battle, I’m hoping for some real awesome visuals with all their Assets flying around (lol, sounds wrong). I know it will probably just end up with Kimimaro and MSYU pulling the win out of their backsides like they usually do, but I don’t really see how else they can end it. Mikuni has to be stopped.

These episodes were so full of technobabble that it lost me on more than one occasion. The finance stuff is confusing at the best of times. Somewhere between all the engrish and digitisation I just stopped caring and wanted to see fights. Which, admittedly, I got. Sato and Mikuni’s fight could have been better, it felt a bit like a tease. I can only hope they just didn’t want to show too much of Mikuni’s fighting style before the climax. But I would have appreciated a little more action.

It was a bit awkward when MSYU asked to kiss Kimimaro again after they’ve just talked about the fact she’s probably his daughter, luckily he manages to turn it into a sweet moment by just kissing her on the forehead. I don’t really have a problem with the theory because I never shipped the two of them together. I also think that it gives their relationship an interesting dynamic. In a lot of ways I think it works, MSYU’s always seemed to challenge him and talk to him in an familiar way so I can definitely buy a family type senario. Even if I did think it would be better suited to siblings.

So, next week is the grand finale. Are you ready for [C]’s conclusion?

I had watched these two episodes back to back and they’re really high-octane and a lot of fun to watch. [C]’s effect on the real world and seeing all of those futures drained away looked really cool. America blasting Masakaki away was kinda funny in how easily they pushed him away.

I myself have been mostly high on the series and feel like these past 2-3 episodes have done a good job at explaining itself and creating unique situations, but I personally feel that a lot hinges on what happens in the last episode. Giving Kimimaro a Darkness Card is a cheap way of leveling the playing field, but whatever; just make the last fight awesome, make the ending conclusive and don’t short-change us!

It’s rare we get a show that had good special effects, it’s all badly integrated CGI, and granted, [C] has that too, they haven’t been abusing it as much lately.

I also thought it was a bit deus ex machina to basically pull the Darkness card concept out of their asses in the last few episodes, but it might make for an impressive spectacle.

The economic lingo flew over my head a few times, but at least I got the main points. I really didn’t mind considering how intense things got. I can’t wait for that Mikuni final battle!

I am very grateful they avoided any romance by making Msyu (probably) his daughter. YESSS. Keeping it tender and sweet without all the romantic hassle and drama!

    • Hime says:

I love seeing Mikuni fight, he can be so badass at times. He has some cool Assets, lol! (i’m so mature).

I’m also glad they avoided the incest route, Mikuni is the seediness in this show xD Kimimaro is the conscience.

    C just got SO GOOD.
I love Q so much right nowww.
OVERHEATED ECONOMYY. I really want that final episode to come sooner!

    • Hime says:

Q definately stole the show, with her awesome evil grin.

The LOVE sign! I was like OMFG where is Isaya?! Shizuo and celty!

Anyone else love the epic engrish? I know I DO! Makes me laugh every time.

C Just got good I agree with that! Kind of sad to see this getting closer to the end and poor Myusu T_______T

    • Hime says:

I know! Epic animu reference right there!

      The engrish is sooo hilarious.

It was good to see Kimimaro be a man for once and take some hits for himself. MSYU’s always protecting him, he should know how it feels to get his ass financially kicked. xD

Finally, the coolest deal is gonna begin!!! Mikuni VS Kimimaro!!!

Can’t wait for Friday to come!!!

kimimaro lost my last support the moment he decided msyu was his daughter. at that point, I saw him now to be useful for pairing msyu but now that thats gone… I hope he gets screwed up by mikuni or by the system.

notice that it was thanks to the “higher ups” that kimimaro got the darkness card? he’s falling for their trap.

on a side note, Q was awesome! the most unique asset and it explains her preferred “food”.

    • Hime says:

I think that’s a high probability, cause even thought he has a Darkness card, Mikuni has a lot more experiance with Deals than him. He’s so savvay~

I love her eating the Midas money, it’s so cute xD

  7. Kyokai says:

OH MAN, I can’t imagine myself without internet so I can relate to that. Hopefully your PC would be back soon in working condition.

These episodes of C have been amazing and I’m glad they finally upped a notch. The whole backlash is quite probable and should have happened long before. Now, waiting for that big fight and hopefully it would be according to our expectations.

    • Hime says:

      I HAVE RETURNED

XD It was a dark couple of weeks, there. Hopefully [C]’s climax will be worth the wait.

  8. Dan-go says:

GO Q GO! she actually gave me the biggest creeps when she went all clawy, so predictions for whats next? lets get that black card out and whup ass. Oh also did anyone fully understand all the business jargon they spouted?

    • Hime says:

I hope they don’t pull an deus ex machina and have Kimimaro pull a win out of his ass. It would be freshing to have the antagonist win, Mikuni really has the stronger goal, here, because Kimimaro is so personality retarded.

The jargon flew totally over my head. I just sat back and enjoyed the pretty colours. B)

  9. Reaper says:

SO HYPED FOR THE NEXT EP! Seriously, when they finished off 10 with that moment just before the fight and the awesome music in the background, I was annoyed how it wasn’t a week in only a few seconds…sigh, damn you laws of physics…
Agree with the Darkness card, awesome card of power is awesome…though I wonder what happens when you crush it…? (Nifty little Persona reference :)) I admit though, I can already see why they both have a Darkness card; it’s an experiment from the powers above (literally) to see whether Mikuni will trade the future for the sake of the present (hence Midas Money wins Show ▼

) or whether Kimimaro’s idea of returning the future to Mashu Show ▼

I know the theory’s confusing but that’s just my take on it…
Yeah, I died when Sato died as well…I’m glad Kimimaro kept George; might see her at the end…would be so happy if she does show up…:)

    • Hime says:

George is such an awesome name for a huge badass wolf XD
