Toaru Majutsu no Index II – 23
The fun isn’t quite over yet!
Welcome back to more magical index! This has an interesting turn of events and here I thought things were over! But it looks like things are going to progress into more plot and story. However, I am really excited to see the final episode! Not much going on this week, a few OVAs came out with Tailenders and Air Gear 2! Anyway, time to review episode twenty-three.
Plot this week brings Hyoka back to normal and Accelerator making friends with a special team called Group after being captured by them. While Touma gets some much needed rest from all the battles, so this time mostly Accelerator having his own side story.
Touma- “Guess I can’t let you in my harem Hyoka.” Hyoka-“That’s okay, I like girls anyway.”
Just throw some food and she will leave you alone, Accelerator.
Oh, you shall be missed, Mikoto; who knows maybe we will see another Railgun series?!
After Hyoka wakes up—thanks to Index and her magical singing–she runs off and Accelerator gets captured by Academy city special forces. They want to make use of him for a special team called GROUP, this sounds so much like an RPG thing to me, hahah. Anyway, Accelerator does join the team! He gets to meet up with a special magician who disguises himself and chooses to be Mitsuki Unabara for the time being. Tsuchimikado is also part of this team, however most of us know thanks to the opening.
Accelerator- “Do I get to kill people if I join? Then, HELLS YES!”
While Accelerator gets on with his new team, Touma has issues of his own to deal with. And the big issue?! Deciding where the students should eat dinner… Yes, lame very lame but we do get to see more of Fukiyose and Himegami hanging around him providing us a few laughs. While at dinner, Touma gets to have a chat with Tsuchimokado about a possible war breaking out soon. This really hints for the main theme for another season: WAR!
Touma- “Hey, do you want to hook up later?!” Touma got his answer! NO.
Fukiyose getting close to Touma here, sorry you can’t win against Mikoto.
Every time I see Fukiyose, I can’t help but think of Misaki from Mai- sama! They share seiyuu.
This looks so damn good right now! Pro tip, don’t blog when you are hungry.
Index- “OH MY GOD I AM SO HIGH RIGHT NOW, TOUMA! WOOOOOO!!”
Touma- “We are so watching that chick change…” Tsuchikikado-“Dude, that’s my sister…”
Tsuchimikado-“Are you thinking what I am thinking?!”
Touma- “That we should cross dress and run down the street?”
Tsuchimikado-“Who the hell are you and what you did to Touma?!”
While Tsuchmikado thinks about making new friends, Accelerator is on his first assignment. GROUP is so nice that they even gave his limiter extra time on his powers; surely that will be the best idea just in case he turns on you. First job is to “deal” with a new threat from Skill-Outs led by Ritoku Komaba, who is a huge dude! He’s so damn tall, like a giant! Thanks to the recent events in Academy City, it was easy for him to take over this area.
Accelerator meets this creepy mage! Not a bad suit though.
Magician-“You shall be agent speed-sama”
Accelerator-“DO YOU WANT TO DIE?!” Magician-“…..No…..”
Accelerator is ready to kill some people!
Before any real fighting can go down we get another special guest! Awaki arrives on the scene, you remember her right? She is going to freak when she sees Accelerator. Hopefully, she keeps her mouth shut around him or she’l sure hurt later! The episode wraps up with Awaki finding Ritoku and you can judge how big this guy is.
Awaki makes her dramatic entrance and kicks some major ass! I think she threw a fridge at someone too!
Ritoku- “HAHA, LITTLE GIRL, I SHALL BREAK YOU!”
Extra Powers!
Touma-“Why yes, I want to go out to dinner with you, boobs er… Fujimura.”
This is Komoe’s OMG WTH BBQ face.
I swear she grew a few cup sizes since we saw her last…
Yes, shovel that food down in there, you won’t get to eat till next season.

End Thoughts:
Not a bad episode, seems like they are going for another last minute arc? Not sure why, maybe they are pushing to end it with a shocking ending with something epic. Well, I wouldn’t hold my breath too much with anything amazing. As for an ending, my choice would be Mikoto confessing and Touma going, WHAT? I HAD NO IDEA YOU LIKED ME! Just kidding, I would rather have the war’s sudden onslaught. Acqua did manage to talk to the other major guy from the Catholic Church, which should be fun; I remember reading about him in the novel. Insider news, he likes to really get drunk, hahah.
Accelerator’s new team… he joined some lame GROUP? Really couldn’t think of a better name than that? Anyway, I don’t think he will be part of them for much longer. You can already tell he does not like that shape-shifting mage. He probably is not a good guy either, I know Tsuchimikado did warn him about trusting them. I liked that they brought back Awika! Even though she has similar powers to Kuroko, I find her to be fun; maybe it’s the hair or how awesome that move-point ability is. She can throw anything at you! Guess it reminded me a bit of Shizuo from Durarara!!
Hopefully, we get some action between Accelerator, Awika and Ritoku! I am interested to see that massive dude’s powers. I have not read about him yet, but I assume he is some weak filler boss for characters to kick around for a while. Well, that’s about all I can say on this episode. I liked them bring a few people back, which is a common theme in Index; bad guys always come back to help sooner or later. Maybe Vent will reappear in season three? We shall see.

Next week the final episode! Also, the meeting we all have been waiting for! Accelerator finally has a chat with Touma; you can bet they will not be giving each other any high-fives or hugs. And we will get to see how J.C. Staff ends this fun and slow ride.

That big dude is a part of Skill-Out, which means he doesn’t have any abilities or magic. They might bring out some tool again though, like the one that disables other people’s abilities in Railgun.

There should be! After all there is a whole light novel of stories to feed us with. I hope there is a third season but I really hope they don’t have to do a fourth…. LOL

This episode, I felt the beginning was just…disjointed. Rushed and hurried, I don’t know, I really like Index but I get the feeling the Touma part of the whole story is starting to lack in quality. Sure, it was great to see the whole class planning and going out to eat, but really, the strap joke? It’s like Touma became a slapstick for innuendos (though it would be nice in RL at times :))
BUT JC Staff does make up for it with the Accelerator parts now showing. I have a bit of knowledge on the whole plot line so it’s great to see Accelerator taking up more face time, with actual plot/story/development compared to Touma’s growing harem. I mean, dark story and anti-hero protagonist? Accelerator’s like Hei from Darker than Black, doing bad things for a good purpose.
Can’t wait for next ep, with the fight between GROUP and SkillOut! Will be epic! Unless JC Staff is determined to continuing shifting staff over to Shana 3…grr…malcontentedness increased by over 9000!

Agreed there are huge spots for another season.
Yep I felt the same like they are smashing together the last few bits together to make a new series. It did seem silly for them to shove another mini arc at us like this, true the story needs some beef added to make it worth something.
True Touma is around to be put into the hardcore ecchi moments thanks to the writers, Accelerator is always fun to watch the only thing I don’t like are his strange screams! What the hell are those?! Cats being strangled? LOLOL
Yes Touma’s harem grows even more with each girl he punches. Yep I am looking forward to seeing how JC Staff ends season two! Yep if they can do Shana 3 we need IndexIII 😛

Yeah this new arc is just forced to me, then again you can tell where things will end with Accelerator and Touma meeting maybe something exciting? I wouldn’t hold your breath to long.
