2 Minutes of Robots and humor… Right…

I finally got around to it and here I am out with a first impression for this whopping 2 minute episode anime series. I actually had no idea that this would be 2 minutes and when I did find out, I jumped the gun in volunteering to cover this first impression. How hard can reviewing a short episode be? Hopefully not time consuming because if you haven’t noticed, I don’t have that much free time. But yes, let’s get this going…

A robot is standing in a classroom with much suspense but then the scene changes revealing that it was a story being told by that same robot.

I’m a BAMF and you better know it

A female robot is talking with some sort of heavy machinery about her dream of meeting a human at the end of a long hallway in a school. To make this seem significant, it is the first time the “Ojou-sama” robot has seen a human.

With some horrific humor and wrong choice of words, the robot tries to express her experience. The robot was at a loss on how to communicate with the human and was hoping her message would get through.

The heavy machinery then gives the robot a book left to her by her father that would give her a hint. But it seems to be a book about the frog prince. The heavy machinery then produces the right book about human language and the heavy machinery reads to the robot about humor.

As the robot turns away from the heavy machinery, she is suddenly face to face with a human in a space suit. We finally get some opening movie text with a view of the hi-tech world and the robot asks what clothing the human is wearing.

We’re in a superior and advanced world. Yet you’re reading a book to me!?

Ooo shiny oooh reflection... So that’s how I look.. Purrty

End Thoughts:

So what thoughts would I have that is worth a 2 minute long anime? I could probably pull some BS out of somewhere but I’ll do my best to keep this simple. My first impression of this anime was amazement at the animation. The small closeness to a realistic yet CGI scene in the opening was a good hook along with it’s setting filled with much interesting detail. Yet, I don’t know if I would even consider this to be anime in the sense of the type of animation that we are used to.

The opening, as stated above, had such a great hook to it that reeled me in with it’s suspense BGM and zoom out of the surrounding. As well, to find out that it was a dream being told by the robot to the heavy machinery was a good transition. I have a vague idea on what the plot is to this series but I wonder how many episodes will be needed to accomplish things to get the viewers to follow this. Most likely, many people will not watch this series until it’s all over and then they will watch it all in one go. I for one, am in that group.

I find that the robot and heavy machinery’s conversation to be somewhat fast paced. This left me someone confused that I had to watch it over again but maybe it could be that I am exhausted. These two robots trying to be humorous failed in my view, especially with the talk about the human language and going into detail about humor. But things started to get interesting when the robot faced the human. I wonder how the creators will make this interaction go considering that this is the first time that the robot has met a human.

So yeah, that’s all. Fireball Charming won’t be covered weekly here on Metanorn but maybe when this series is complete, I will see if I can make one big post of it all. Until then, there’s more spring first impressions and episodic reviews to come.
