Thoughts and Prayers for all the Affectees

Sending out prayers to all the affectees of Japan earthquake, good thoughts for the entire Pacific Basin.

Updated with Donation Link of Redcross

After Japan’s 8.9 Earthquake, a 10-meter Tsunami alerted to hit the entire Pacific Basin except for US/Canada. For details on Japan’s Tsunami Advisory, go here. As we have quite an international gathering at Metanorn, with a very somber heart I can only wish and hope that everyone remains safe. So all of you from Australia, New Zealand, Philippines, Indonesia, Taiwan, Chile, Papua New Guinea, Hawaii, and all alerted areas–sending many good thoughts your way.

For live updates on current events in Japan, Al Jazeera blog is being updated quite rigorously without the usual idiotic sauce of news sources. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Stay safe, everyone!

Update: Following up some comments at #SSCSAV, and EO’s post on THAT, thought to update this post here as well. While we can pray for the lost souls and people still stuck in different areas of Japan, we can be proactive and properly donate to reliable setups who are actively taking part in rescuing and helping out the local citizens of Japan. Easiest choice could be Redcross (SMS “REDCROSS” to 90999 to donate $10 USD to the in the US, or the same keyword to 30333 in Canada).

An updated list of relief funds for this cause can be found here. Metanorn is joining hands with Bloggers4Japan in raising localized funds for Japan via Doctors Without Borders and Shelterbox. Whichever country you live in, you can donate a small amount of money that would actually be contributed to the greater good. You will have my deepest thanks for attempting and considering this option.

This is insane. Take care, people. Don’t do anything dangerous to get a photo or something; find a safe spot to weather this thing. Best wishes to those struggling with the damage, or looking for word about loved ones.

        • Captain says:

They’re safe. No one with any serious injuries. Thank god.
The windows of my apartment are cracked, though. Some stuff is broken. Ikebukuro felt the effects of the earthquake but not really much of the tsunami.
