Ore no Imouto ga Konnai ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai – 02

Little sister, can’t you find another way? No more livin’ life behind a shadow.

Ahhhh. Another week another… imouto? That just sounds dodgy. Nevertheless, here we are with what I believe is the second episode review of Ore no Imouto. While we can all agree that the first episode was simply awesome, will the second live up to it’s reputation? Is show just a one-trick pony?! WHO WILL BE VOTED OUT THIS WEEK?! TUNE IN ON THE NEXT EPISODE OF SURVIVOR.

Now as we begin this episode, oh good ol’ protagonist Kyousuke find out the ugly truth. His little sister, Kirino (that apparently cannot be this cute), doesn’t actually have any friends that share her otaku interests. They actually despite the dirty old otaku boys. Still wanting to help his little sister he brainstorms ideas, only to think of one with the help of Manami, Kyousuke’s childhood friend. He suggests that Kirino makes friends online, and then meet these people in real life. Because that’s what you tell your little jailbait sister. Go meet randoms from the internet.

Despite the obvious flaw in their intelligence, a meeting is arranged with several other eroge playing girls and the all meet at a cafe in Akihabara. Because the meeting is girls only, Kyousuke goes recon mode and sits on the other of the cafe, which is infested with maids. As the meet up begins, we find out the girl who organized it, Saori Makishima, is a behemoth. She’s giant, and pretty out there. Despite everyone having the same interests, Kirino can’t get along with anyone. She sits there all sad until the meet is over. Kyousuke tries to help, but she acts all Kirino like and storms away. Sad face.

But wait! There’s more! Saori-chan comes to the rescue, asking if the two would like to spend more time in Akihabara. Agreeing, the are not aware of the dark forces at work, which happen to materialize as Kuroneko (Yeah, really) another little jailbait loli otaku in cosplay. Straight away, Kirino and Kuroneko duke it out, arguing about anime and how badly each other is dressed. Even as they trudge around the district, they bitch and bitch and bitch at each other, while Saori smiles and Kyousuke sighs.

Alas, they still manage to get each others mail addresses, most likely so they can insult each other more. As it seems like Kirino made some friends, Kyousuke finally finishes his first loli eroge. And he gets all happy about it. I don’t know why, but hell, it’s entertaining. Returning the laptop and game back to Kirino, she grills him for answers and specifics about the ending. satisfied with what he has played, they return to their rooms, and Kyousuke rests, knowing his work is done. I guess if that were true, there wouldn’t be another eleven episode, yeah?

End Thoughts

“Oh God, they found me…”

You’re so goddamn tall, woman…

Kirino’s favourite character, reduced to, well, porn.

Everytime I read NeoGAF, this is what I look like.

Well, this is officially my top show of the season, on par with Bakuman. The World Only God Knows taking a comfortable second. It’s good to see the new characters coming in as well, and it’s especially relieving to see that Saori is still awesome. She acts exactly as she does in the manga which is a plus. Weird, but she could still pass for normal. And what’s up with those weird glasses? Or maybe those are actually HER EYES!

Interesting to see good ol’ Kuroneko as well. Though, I’m not liking her character as much any of the others. Her voice just sounds weak and it doesn’t have enough power behind it to seem interesting. While I’m hoping she gets better over time, as she converses with Kyousuke, Kirino and Saori more, I’m not crossing my fingers. She is most probably a character that stays the same throughout the series. Maybe we’ll see more of Kirino’s friends from the beginning of the episode? There could be an epic otaku confession to them in a later episode. How do you reckon they would respond to that megaton?

Finally, whatever stance you have on this show, you’ve got to love Kyousuke. It’s like, if people hated Suzumiya Haruhi as a show, they still loved Kyon. Because Kyon just made the show that much better. It’s the same with Ore no. Kyousuke has like monotonous charm and witty quick come backs that just make you laugh. Does it sound like I have a man crush on him? Oh God, it does doesn’t it. I bet people would think I’m weird for having a man crush on Kyousuke when he has a sister like that….

Something relatively shocking must have happened!

Once again, no preview! I can’t remember how the manga progressed after the meeting with the otaku girls, but let me give you a hint of what’s to come. Kyousuke and Kirino’s Dad is a badass. *Wink wink* Eh? Eh? That was pretty subtle, wasn’t it! Anyways, I hope you’ve enjoyed this little insight to Ore no once again. Only God Knows episode 2 should be up in a few days then Ore no episode 3 after that! Oh my, it’s all so busy and exciting. Time to go play Medal of Honor and the Killzone 3 Beta.

I was watching this last night, and I couldn’t watch the whole thing without pausing and thinking to myself “what am I watching O_O”. Honestly, the Otaku fights (romance-drama! no! Little sister ****! NEETs, what?!) are hilarious. I’m not quite sure why, but sometimes the show gets too akward for me to finish an episode on one go…

You’re watching the best show this season. And if you want awkward, go watch Amagami SS. That shit is awkward, I tell ya’.

Loving this show so far :woo
And all that Sony Vaio cameos is making me want to buy one. Well at least not as shameless as the BMW promotion in Kami-sama ep 2 😛

I read all these positive reviews so I checked it out. I’m not sure I really cared for it, but I had a good laugh when Kuroneko shouted something like “Step outside, bitch.” just as Saori claimed they were getting along.

  4. Sergio says:

Kuroneko won’t stay (well kind of) the same, she gets lots of character development later! She’s actually my favorite character on par with Kirino

  5. Kyokai says:

Don’t worry Hato, Kyousuke is adorable in his quest for helping his little sis. ^^
