Umineko no Naku Koro ni OP Single: Katayoku no Tori

scan

The awesome OP single for Umineko no Naku Koro ni: “Katayoku no Tori” (“One Winged Bird”) by Shikata Akiko. Wow, the vocals~

We all know the first track “Katayoku no Tori” for being the OP song for current anime Umineko no Naku Koro ni. The vocals are just killer. Shikata Akiko’s just vocally talented no doubt. I gotta love the epic arrangement. Still getting goosebumps hearing the choir parts.

The second track doesn’t end all the awesomeness. I just gotta love “VII” as well. It’s WICKED!!! It started off very light and then there goes some eerie-ness that starts off the awesomeness in the chorus. Followed by continues overflow of craziness that makes me wonder if Maria’s the one who’s singing lol. I have no idea how to describe it. It’s gothic, classy, rockin’, epic, creepy, eerie, cutesy argh it’s just stunning! I FREAKING LOVE IT TO BITS!!!

If ever Arisa happens to have an anime adaptation, I will demand “VII” to be its OP! XD Now I feel like making a horror anime AMV! Maybe Pandora Hearts, Le Portrait de Petit Cossette or even Umineko itself! XD Or maybe an Arisa MMV XD… BTW, needs lyrics and translations for this song plox.

Tracklist:

1. Katayoku no Tori
2. VII
3. Katayoku no Tori [Instrumental]
4. VII [Instrumental]

Anyways, I agree. Shikata Akiko’s vocals are totally awesome. :oha: If I was already amazed with the short version of Katayoku no Tori, the full-version is just purely awesomeness! Sheeeesh, I’d be so proud of myself if I had vocals like that 😆

My first encounter with Akiko Shikata’s vocals were with the Ar Tonelico series. One of her songs, “Exec. Chronicle Key” still stands as one of my favorite songs of all time. Actually, it was hearing that she’d be doing the OP that made me decide to watch Umineko.

Thanks so much for the download link~<3

ZOMG, if I wasn’t in love with Shikata Akiko’s voice before this song, then I certainly am now. I hope we get to see more of her awesome work in future anime, ne? ^^

“VII” is…everything you described right there. Damn, listening to it from this laptop is all fuzzy but it still sounds so great. Even better than a couple of Ali Project’s songs. *gets shot but fans* XDDD

Thanks again for the links! ^^

“Katayoku no Tori” reminded me of what it would be like if Shimamiya Eiko, Kajiura Yuki, and Ali Project tag-teamed and combined their talents to produce songs. Beyond crazy epic-ness, the orchestral music and that stunning voice.
