winter15-fosh Wow it has been a really long time since I’ve posted any kind of review or podcast! I recently got a new gaming pc so I had to get new programs and setup all my audio stuffs, but anyway enough about that enjoy the new format! Instead of going over all the beats of every episode I just talked about the cool moments.

About

Is huge anime fan from Florida! who loves to watch anime and also enjoys drawing and collecting pictures, my favorite genre of anime has to be Mecha, there is just something awesome about giant robots beating the crap out of each other! Other than that type of show, I love a good comedy or action series :D

An interview with Horikoshi Kouhei. Note the lengths he takes to keep his face secret.

Or, Why Manga Artists Prefer to Stay Anonymous.

The video doesn’t work but yeah the ANN article is p interesting! I can totally see why some mangaka rather stay out of the public eye especially people who hate certain manga creators or their arcs…

Hey, knowing the keyboard bash first think never attitude of most Net “Someone on the Internet is Wrong” Warriors, I’d would totally get into the “pay me my money, f*ck their opinions” train straight to anonymity. I mean, that’s not the only game in town, but if you’re busy actually creating stuff, the punts can punt on their own, they will anyway…

There needs to be more focus on some of the supporting characters, specifically Frog Girl and Pink Cutie. I can see how Pink Cutie’s quirk would be useful, but I can’t figure out why Frog Girl’s is so great as to get her into the top hero academy. Unless she is very creative in how she uses it.

    • BlackBriar says:

The Frog Girl is basically the female version of Toad in the X-Men universe. Same abilities and nothing extravagant to say about them. Except Toad was part of Magneto’s “Brotherhood of Mutants” whereas she’s aiming to be a hero in Academia.

    • Foshizzel says:

Sadly the anime is going to mostly be about Deku and his rise to becoming a hero so some of the side characters get pushed aside for now, but hopefully things shift to give the others screentime! I know the manga does that really well…

As for the frog girl and why she’s so popular I honestly have no idea other than her having a unique character design, her power set or her “frog” like speech pattern? IDK for me I like her design and her interactions with certain characters.

      • Wanderer says:

You want to know why Tsuyu (Frog Girl) is popular? Lemme copy-paste what I posted elsewhere in response to that question:

To be fair, Tsuyu has had a lot of development in the manga. We’ve seen her family and some of her backstory. She’s competent and levelheaded, and good at rationally analyzing a situation. She’s also very good at using her relatively low-power quirk in highly effective ways: she can almost always take care of herself during an exercise or an attack, and probably help out someone else as well. Basically she’s a good girl and I can see why people like her.

Still, I just like Mina better. Mina is sweet and sexy and fun. Bit of a baka, but not too much. She enjoys life, and seems to love making friends and having fun with people. The author has mostly kept her sidelined, so she hasn’t had much chance to shine, sadly.

        • Foshizzel says:

True on Tsuyu! Anime wise she isn’t getting to show off much, but the manga version of the character has had waaaay more development.

Could someone please apply One-for-All to the spammy’s face until it coughs up my post… again?

Something had to have been off for Fosh’s presence to have diminished this much recently. Now it’s clear why.

Anyway, I fell behind on this series after the second episode since the other shows this season were more appealing. Seeing this post gave me the incentive to catch up and I have to say it was worth. I’ve gotten a more drastic change of opinion watching the following episodes back to back than I think I would’ve on a weekly format. The show’s not bad, so consider me officially on the Academia bandwagon.

Man, does Bakugou stick out with his insufferable arrogance. There’s a reason Pride is one of the Seven Deadly Sins. Clearly, he’s Vegeta’s successor. At least he finally got a hefty reality check that’s setting him straight. His voice actor, who just happens to be Nobuhiko Okamoto, makes it seem Accelerator is getting wrecked again.

    • Foshizzel says:

The new computer was part of it, but at the same time I was feeling a bit burned out so I decided to take a short break from anime reviewing.

Sounds awesome! I really love this series a whole lot and I like how the story has been centered around Deku and we get the added bonus with Bakugou’s struggling with the fact that Deku has powers and standing toe to toe with him and boy does it piss him off…

Yeah he is definitely the Vegeta clone especially with his attitude towards Deku and yeah having Accelerators voice is the perfect fit.

      • BlackBriar says:

Speaking of Vegeta, here’s the funny thing. His voice actor, Christopher Sabat, is playing All Might in Funimation’s dub of Academia.

        • Foshizzel says:

Yeah Chris Sabat is a perfect fit for All Might! I’ve been rewatching the dubbed episodes, they are up to 3 so far and it’s been great! I’m a little surprised Toonami didn’t grab it since they do a lot with Funimation! Ah well at least they got Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans for Toonami.

          • IreneSharda says:

The dub is very good as far as dubs go. Sabat is the obvious choice for All Might, who might as well be a younger version of Armstrong with more hair. 😛
IBO’s dub is okay, but JYB sounds a little too cocky for Orga, and Mika’s VA sounds too emotional, considering Mika’s stoic nature.

            • sonicsenryaku says:

yea i think the dub for Boku no hero is pretty good; some people get thrown of about dub’s because “oh, it doesnt sound like what im used to” but there’s more to dubbing than replicating the voice and i think for the most part, these dub voice actors catch the essence of what these characters are.

I’ve been so busy these last few weeks that I couldn’t really get a chance to comment on this. However, I have to really thank fosh for introducing me to this series.

Boku no Hero has climbed the last and has steadily stayed in the top as my favorite show of the season. I absolutely love it, and this is from a person who couldn’t even get through a single chapter of the manga!

There’s just something about the sincerity of this show that makes me enjoy it so much. I love pretty much all the characters so far, and the colors and music somehow add a whole other dimension to the show. I really have to get the OST when it comes out. All Might’s theme especially.

I’ve seen some call it slow and predictable, but I love the fact that it IS predictable and yet cannot some how hold my interest and make me smile every time. I have watched the episodes several times in both English and Japanese and still love them every time. I still tear up when All Might tells Deku he got in. I still cheer every time he uses his quirk. It’s not the destination but the journey that’s important here, as with all shounen series of this type. And the journey here is well done. We already know because Deku is narrating this from the future what they outcome will be, but it’s seeing him actually do it, that interests us the most.

I am excited for the next episode and I really, really, really hope this has another season. 😀
