First Impressions – Luck & Logic

Luck and logic is so damn colorful and i love it.

winter15-fosh When I saw the trailer for Luck and logic it reminded me of The rolling girls just based off the bright colors, but after learning that the characters fuse with gods I instatly thought of Vividred Operation and of course the Majin Buu arc of Dragon Ball Z which I think started the whole idea of two characters fusing into one? I could be mistaken on that info; however we will see how crazy things get with Luck and logic…

Fusion Power

Luck and Logic (8)

Kissing to fuse?! Sounds good to me…unless Olga was Tsurugi’s first partner…

Like I said at the start of the post the idea of fusion has been around for a long time so it really is nothing new as far as I can tell, but it’s a very interesting idea to basically increase a characters power and Luck and Logic gives us a short preview of those powers at work with a flashback/video from two years ago with our main character Yoshichika Tsurugi who I guess lost that power shortly after that fight? I’d guess it had to do with something called Over Trance? I don’t know what that is other than giving you lots of power at a price? Maybe you become full blown god or possibly a demon for a few moments or maybe it’s like the swan song attacks from Symphogear or the same thing we saw in Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru? Either way it obviously didn’t kill Tsurugi so maybe he just lost all his powers after that fight? While that was cool we eventually learn a little bit more about the the act of fusion in this series thanks to the newest recruit of the ALCA (Another Logic Counter Agency) Yukari Nanahoshi and it’s called Covenant and it’s like some kind of contract deal between a human and a god and only special people can actually do it. Speaking of gods this one seems to be pulling from every myth and legend or is it? When I saw Athena I wondered if we were sticking to just Greek gods? After that I started thinking who was Tsurugi partnered up with in the past? Was it Aries aka the Greek god of war or possibly Hercules? Because his final form looked really bad-ass especially with those six arms, but I think Luck and logic is mixing all the gods and myths into one connected universe to keep things interesting. I know I’m not that knowledgeable on the whole subject of gods or myths, but I do know that there are a few Hindu gods that have six arms so maybe we are going to see gods from all over?

Other Characters

Luck and Logic (7)

Shiori wins for best sister of winter 2016~

While we get a good idea about Tsurugi’s past like how he basically became a bit of a bum after loosing his powers and now he lives at home with his dad and sister, oh and did I mention his mom died too? Yeah typical anime character background cause hey we just gotta have one dead parent for the drama later right?Anyway his home life seems to be alright thanks to his adorable yet bossy little sister Shiori who is super protective over him. I guess she it’s obvious that she is acting as the “mother” figure in that family since the father is so laid back and easy going; however it doesn’t take all that long for Tsurugi to get pulled back into being a hero after a giant monster appears in the middle of the damn mall! Those poor kids just wanted to buy some boxers for their dads birthday. and with that Tsurugi met Athena at the mall and now she needs his help to save the world or was she put up to all of that thanks to that mystery glasses dude who just so happens to have two pictures of the main guy? Yeah something tells me that guy is probably the bad guy of the series or hes just a creepy stalker or it’s the blond guy Olga Breakchild at the end who claims Tsurugi will fail once again! Oh and the short clip at the start showed Olga and Yukari together so Olga must be a god I think? If so I wonder if he was Tsurugi’s partner from two years ago?

End Thoughts

header-winter15-fosh

That was a cool first episode even though I already know things will go the route of silly harem antics since Tsurugi has to share a room with Athena! I can already predict him walking in on her showering or getting dressed after a shower, but again I just want to know why are those dumb CGI looking monsters appear out of the sky and discover who is the real threat to the world? Is it the blond guy at the end the real villain or is it the creepy glasses stalker dude that had the quick scene with Athena? Either way I’m sure we will learn more about that later after we get some training moments between the main cast of characters. Speaking of other characters I wanted more scenes with the other girls! So far I liked Chloe Maxwell voiced by Sora Tokui who I only know as Maya from Is this an order of the rabbit or her more popular role Niko from Love Live, so yeah she is my favorite so far unless you liked the leader Tamaki Yurine who is voiced by Risa Taneda or as I call her the no-senpai-this-is-our-fight-girl. I know everyone is probably sick and tired of seeing or hearing that stupid quote; however I want to see more Shiori! She was such a great character and hi5 to Ai Kayano for bringing out that emotion during the sad moments.

About

Is huge anime fan from Florida! who loves to watch anime and also enjoys drawing and collecting pictures, my favorite genre of anime has to be Mecha, there is just something awesome about giant robots beating the crap out of each other! Other than that type of show, I love a good comedy or action series :D

Now, would I logically watch this or will this series just be lucky I would watch it? Hmmm…

    Or would everything fail? :3

  2. BlackBriar says:

unless you liked the leader Tamaki Yurine who is voiced by Risa Taneda or as I call her the no-senpai-this-is-our-fight-girl. I know everyone is probably sick and tired of seeing or hearing that stupid quote

That depends on who you ask and what they think of it, Fosh.

    • Foshizzel says:

Well Mr. BB what do you think? I know you are probably the only one I know that liked Strike the Blood, but yeah Risa Taneda is all over this season…

      • BlackBriar says:

I can live with it as I don’t see it one bit as a problem. It’s part of who Yukina Himeragi is and I accept that. No different than Touma Kamijou always saying he’ll break someone’s illusion before delivering the final blow. Unless he should be crucified for the same thing.

Yeah, Risa Taneda is all over lately. She was Shokugeki no Souma’s Erina Nakiri and will be again in the second season. Still, she’ll have to do more if she intends to give role queen Kana Hanazawa a run for her money.

        Mr. BB

Why am I starting to think of a famous James Bond quote?

        • Foshizzel says:

True ill give you that on Touma LOL

Well topping Hanazawa Kana is no easy task! I don’t think anyone has even come close in the past year, but hey I’m always happy to hear new actors pop up in random series even though after a while I tend to get tired of hearing them over and over again.

LOL Mr. BB does sound like a bond villain hahaha

  3. Wanderer says:

Oh and the short clip at the start showed Olga and Yukari together so Olga must be a god I think?

Character intro PV listed both of them as logicalists, whereas the various deities were listed as “foreigners,” so I think those two are just grouped together because they’re minor characters with no deities contracted to them.

    • Foshizzel says:

Ahh I figured anyone with fancy colored hair that is also stylized has to be a god because have you seen their hair? It’s CRAZY but yeah I could see that with Olga and Yukari not having a contract with any gods yet to keep things mysterious so it works not knowing.

  4. Highway says:

I really enjoyed this first episode. I thought that the concept was executed well, even if it’s not the most original of ideas. I also thought they pulled the characters off well, hitting the right balance on them.

  5. BlackBriar says:

Agreed with all that’s said at the header. If I had to add to it, it’s that a few times in between, when looking at the characters in their alternate forms mixed in with the animation, Black Rock Shooter comes to mind. More so with the characters’ glowing gear.

A good start. Given the lead’s already presented recklessness, things should be interesting to watch.

And what is it about younger siblings that they manage to have the older ones bending backwards to them? It was the same with Asterisk’s Irene Urzaiz.

    • Foshizzel says:

Yeah my brother said the same thing about their alternate forms looking a bit Black Rock Shooter like especially the sniper who wears black and neon.

I’m interested to see where it goes! I think it’s rare to see a character with great power at the start loose it and basically have to rebuild his skills from scratch, but of course it will be easy for the main character.

I dunno I guess they think it’s interesting? I don’t get it either, most of the time the younger sibling wants to be like their older sibling at least in the real world…

  6. HannoX says:

Damn it, people, if you’re going to include Greek gods, read your Homer! It’s gray-eyed Athena! For some reason it really gets me when an anime has Athena in it and she doesn’t have gray eyes. Maybe I’ve just read Homer too often or maybe I’m just being too pedantic. Either way I want to see her with gray eyes!

And let’s remember she’s a pretty badass fighter able to beat the god of war. Plus she’s one of the virgin goddesses, so probably wouldn’t have romantic feelings towards the hero. Of course, in a harem series we know she will. Oh, well.

    • Foshizzel says:

LOL I guess I can see your point on eye color, but idk it seems like a tiny thing like people who get mad when characters from their favorite manga have their hair color changed from manga to anime.

I honestly can’t see any romances forming between the human characters and the gods I have similar issues when you have vampires that fall in love with humans! Eventually the human partner will die and in the case of this series the Gods will probably out live the humans; however we don’t really know their lifespan in this universe.

      • BlackBriar says:

I have similar issues when you have vampires that fall in love with humans!

I’m sorry but I just can’t ignore that one.

Please, Fosh. You already know there’s a way out with that: Turning the human into a vampire as well. Something that’s more than a possibility. 😉

Either that or dead since the percentage of staying human is about 5%.

Eventually the human partner will die and in the case of this series the Gods will probably out live the humans; however we don’t really know their lifespan in this universe.

They’re gods, right? If so, there’s reason to deny they’d have the ability to extend a human’s life. We already have a sort of relationship like that between DanMachi’s Bell and Hestia.

        • Foshizzel says:

Yeah yeah ill give you that on vamps but most of the time in anime I’ve yet to see humans willingly get turned into a vamp besides police girl of Hellsing, but if you know the scene she was kinda dying and wanted to live…

As far as Luck and Logic goes were both assuming a lot when it comes to the god characters and their interactions with the humans for all we know the gods have little to no interest in hooking up with any humans lol maybe they just wanna fight to save their world and nothing more?

          • BlackBriar says:

Yeah yeah ill give you that on vamps but most of the time in anime I’ve yet to see humans willingly get turned into a vamp besides police girl of Hellsing, but if you know the scene she was kinda dying and wanted to live…

Yeah, I’ve seen that scene since I have the episodes and honestly, there’s no way I could’ve blamed Seras for making that choice. Who could blame someone for wanting to live?

    • Highway says:

Maybe Homer was WRONG. Did you ever think of that?

      • skylion says:

…so you’re saying that eye-witness accounts might be a bit of a grey area?

      • HannoX says:

Sacrilege! How dare you imply Homer was mistaken! So far everything we’ve been able to check in The Illiad has proven correct. Surely he’d be right about one of the most important Olympians!

  7. skylion says:

Hmmm, don’t know about this one. The mythological aspect seems to be there because it was in proximity to someone reading a Wikipedia entry on some gods or something, and thought, “hey, these look decent enough”.

It looks like they’ve combined aspects of just about every show out there. I got bits of Date A Live, Symphogear, Devil Summoner, some touches of WIXOSS here and there. So I guess I’m waiting for it to become mostly it’s own thing.

Still, it’s characters that can carry stuff, and this one has some decent ones from the start. I especially like Chloe and Valkyrie, as they seem to have a ton invested in what they are and are doing.

  8. akagami says:

    I like. I like a lot.

I want to gattai with a god. Where do I line up?

Also, good gawd first impression spam. I’m already behind in watching the premiere episodes so I can’t comment. I feel left out :S
