Mechanorn – 26

mecha26

We’re a bit behind….

winter15-foshSorry for the delay, but stuff happens! This week might sound a bit different since I’m letting Samsura get into audio editing so this is a good test run for future MechaNorn posts and I also have one question to ask the readers do you want us to continue talking about Heavy Object? I think me and Samsura are kind of feeling meh about the series; however Irene is still somewhat interested and I am planning on watching it still even if we cut it out of MechaNorn so you can vote! Thank you.

Where is Aquarion LOGOS? LOSTOS? 😛

From what I hear, sales are literally bombing.

    • Foshizzel says:

I dropped that from MechaNORN long long ago, but I’m still watching and planning on doing a series review whenever it ends.

Doesn’t surprise me in the least LOL

Heavy Object: Kamachi Kazuma has acknowledged Heavy Object as a successful novel franchise inside the Index universe. It also has a popular movie adaptation there!

Gundam: I’m still waiting for them to reach Earth, if only to see how far Earth has screwed up progressed.

    • IreneSharda says:

Gundam: Well, we know that Earth is better than Mars right now, socio-economically. However, I have an idea that they’re not going to get to Earth until at least the mid-point of the season. It took 5 months to get to Earth the easy way, and now they are having to divert to deal with Teiwez. So, it’ll be a while.

    • BlackBriar says:

If Heavy Object’s universe is indeed linked to Index/
Railgun, then this may prove to be fun, after all.

      • HannoX says:

Yes, makes you wonder what a Level 5 electro-master or Level 4 teleporter could do to an Object, not to say a high level magician.

  3. Highway says:

Heavy Object is a better show to watch than Comet Stupider Every Week, but I don’t know if there’s too much to talk about with it, especially since they keep insisting on minimal continuity and progression. They acknowledge that things we’ve already seen happened, but there’s very little character progress.

    • Foshizzel says:

      LOL comet stupider LOL

I dunno I like Comet more than Heavy object because the cast of characters are more fun than Havia/Qwen/Milinda which are soooooooo boring, but I guess some people like them more and I hope with ep8 and onward things get better.

Comet Lucifer – 06 & 07: As it progresses, you feel more and more assured this series is better off being watched without the slightest bit of expectation and to go with the flow no matter the direction. The story continues to be loose, so anything has free reign to happen.

    • Foshizzel says:

Hmm true maybe Comet Lucifer would have made a better movie instead of a tv series? I dunno I like how slow it moves, but I can totally understand why its not as popular.

  5. BlackBriar says:

Given that Heavy Object is getting a dub among other Funimation licensed shows this season, I wonder how the two leads Qwenthur and Havia are going to sound.

    • Foshizzel says:

Do you watch any of the Funimation dubs? Some of them are great and some of them not so much I always laugh when they rush into a currently airing shows, but at the same time I always look forward to them eventually airing on Toonami.

      • BlackBriar says:

If you mean any of the broadcast dubs that have been going on for nearly two years, only a few clips but not full episodes which don’t sound too bad.

All I know about Heavy Object’s dub is that the voices behind the two leads are two names that are being frequently paired up lately in Funimation’s other series:

Micah Solusod: Heavy Object’s Havia Winchell, Seraph of the End’s Yuuichirou Hyakuya, Gangsta’s Nicolas Brown.
Justin Briner: Heavy Object’s Qwenthur Barbotage, Seraph of the End’s Mikaela Hyakuya, Gangsta’s Worick Arcangelo.

I always laugh when they rush into a currently airing shows

At least that means the show is seen with potential. Funimation’s policy is not dubbing a series they feel isn’t popular and won’t turn a profit.

Article: Why Does Funimation License Shows They Won’t Dub?

        • Foshizzel says:

Ahh I see! I always try them out because I grew up on dubbed anime so I tend to trust that they put in some effort and most of the time a Funimation dub will appear on Toonami and creates new fans! Then again the only successful dub to do that lately was AoT easily.

I know of Micah from Soul Eater and for some reason he almost sounds like Johnny Young bosh…

True Funimation typically goes for series that have the chance for popularity, but they do grab the odd ones too that might not do anything like Show By Rock or Rolling girls…

Because like in the article I linked, they’re forced to accept a “bundling” method. If they want a popular series to dub, they also have to accept a lackluster series that’s paired with it. Of course, the lackluster one will be shaved off as an unprofitable spare. Funimation has Buddy Complex and OniAi without the slightest chance of getting dubbed, doomed to be only released in sub form.

I mean, Valkyrie Drive is under their license this season among other shows but has no broadcast dub announcement.

          • HannoX says:

Yes, but as the linked article states Funimation may have to take less popular shows as part of a package deal in order to get shows they really want.

Heavy Object – 06 & 07: This clearly demonstrates my disdain for journalists. A set of ignorants blinded by their own self-righteousness that mostly end up causing more harm than good. That whole “The people need to know” mindset is grating. There are things in the world that are not meant to be put on paper.

For two foot soldiers, Qwen and Havia sure are outclassing the army when it comes to recon and hypothesis. I swear the higher-ups get tunnel vision when they feel they have lead.

Even the vending machine is forced to wear cameo!? WTF

Well, they are on a military base. So I guess even the appliances have to follow suit. 😉

That last pic… Definitely reminiscent of Railgun. It also seems things may be looking up for the series now.

    • Foshizzel says:

I hope things improve with Heavy Object! After episode 8 I was pretty excited, but again I hope things get better and maybe Milinda can finally do something for the team? Lately she doesn’t do anything…

Yeah that last shot reminds me of season one of Railgun when the scientist used kids and combined their powers to create some monster baby thing? Yeah it was crazy! So yeah I dunno what they are using all those kids for in Heavy Object? I guess for some remote control Object?

    • Di Gi Kazune says:

Your disdain for journalists? Matches not my position on them. I believe they should all be executed.

Control the media, control the mind.
