Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders S2 – 23

Even the OP song isn’t safe from Dio

The finale continues! To be honest there’s not much more for me to say here since Dio is taking things slow, but I’m still glad they dedicated enough time to give the final boss battle the most OOMPF as possible. Especially the way he bursts through the opening song to stop time because IT’S DIO.

Dio’s power has already been figured out, which leaves only one thing: figuring out how to counter such a ridiculously strong ability. He doesn’t appear to have a limit as to how often he uses it either, so there are very few weaknesses to exploit. The whole vampire regenrative thing doesn’t help things either. Jotaro’s solution of using sheer willpower to bust through halted time and move for just a moment is a very “Jotaro” solution to these problems. I sometimes wonder how this guy gets by all these devious masterminds with the most simple, bullheaded plans. I wouldn’t exactly call Jotaro a master tactician for stuffing his uniform with magazines for protection. Jotaro simply does whatever he wants, when he wants. And somehow everything works out despite the fact that he basically punches his way out of every situation. This is largely why I prefer Joseph as a main character, because he’s wily and wins with a healthy mix of wits and muscles.

My complete apathy for Jotaro is likely why I didn’t fancy this episode as much as last week’s. I loved seeing Kakyoin and Joseph try and hold their own against Dio. I thought a one on one fight would be much more intense coming into the episode, but then I forgot it was Jotaro we were talking about here. I can only hope the next Jojo descendent is better. But who would want to be his wife? Anyways, I’m getting off track here.

Kids, don’t try this one at home.

While I’m still not too hot on Jotaro, I think Dio remains in good form. He’s so strong that you know he could just completely obliterate Jotaro with a flick of his wrist. But Dio is (rightfully) very cautious after underestimating Jonathan. He fidgeting like a squirrel on crack every time Jotaro does something mildly provocative. It’s interesting because despite acting like a coward, he still comes across as being the ultimate being overflowing with power. There’s no doubt he could end Jotaro at any time – he just has the right to be picky about when and how. It makes sense. Of course even a small finger twitch would send him into a tizzy. He’d rather not make the same mistake (of being cocky) as last time and end up at the bottom of the ocean for God knows how long. Oddly enough, his precautions actually seem to be playing against him. Announcing your every thought out loud is probably a bad way to go about making sure someone is dead unless you’re trying to threaten them. If Dio had just used the officer’s gun and shot Jotaro properly, we wouldn’t have another episode next week.

Due to Dio being paranoid, the battle is rather slow. It’s not bad, it’s just not as action-packed as I’d expect for the penultimate episode. Jotaro holding his own heart so it would stop beating is exciting in a more quiet sort of nail-biting way instead of in a hooting and hollering way. I suppose the slight dip in action makes sense since next week looks pretty intense now that Dio has gone super saiyan. Isn’t he supposed to be immortal now? How is Jotaro supposed to win against someone who can’t die? Or maybe that’s the whole point and Dio just gets sealed away until the next season from now until the end of the series. Either way, I hope the finale picks up the pace a bit. I also hope Polnareff gives the final blow instead of this idiot kid who stuffed magazines in his hat, but that ain’t happening.

This describes the character, the writing, and the show in general. Not that there is anything wrong with that 😉

But yeah, if rock is beaten by paper, than so is bullet and blade! But it’s very much the crazy sort of thing I’ve come to expect from the show. Most shows revel in trying to make viewers expect the unexpected, JoJo revels in “expect this goofy stuff”

All in all I enjoyed the episode very much, and it’s good to see JPP get a slice in. Too bad about Dio getting away though.

Haha Jojo is definitely a very fidgety show. Always something going on here!

I’m honestly just being nitpicky here because this was actually a very good episode. I’m really glad I hung in there for the finale. Polnareff stabbing Dio at JUST the right spot was great. If he wasn’t a vampire, that should be fatal. Polnareff has bad luck impaling brains and getting hurt anyways because the villain ends up being immortal…

I finally understand this particular attack.

Mind you that, If this Story is done, They will be no more vampires to linger with, but sadly no more hamon users (Except for Joseph but he will get really old on the next story), the rest of the story will now focus more on stand users.

So the Next one will be the last episode…what could i say, it was kinda bit lame that they fold that story in just 48 episodes, still that ain’t bad…i was wonder that they will had a announcement after the very last episode! (you know the 4th Story) But, who knows!

    • Overcooled says:

That’s true, Joseph is the last hamon user! Not that it’s been helping him much in his journey. It seems like Stands are much stronger (although to be honest I thought hamon was really cool).

I’m keeping my fingers crossed for an announcement too!

That wasn’t as bad as I heard and imagined. Still, Jotaro moving in stopped time is ridiculous. That’s what you get for giving Dio such an overpowered Stand. The way to counter it is even more ridiculous. It’s still not the end though so maybe Jotaro can pull off an even bigger bullshit to counter SSJ2 Dio who will say that he has better control of ZA WARUDO now.

Speaking of bullshit and ridiculous, the heart stop and bullet catching by Star Platinum I can still tolerate(the latter already done in episode 1) but Jotaro flying is out of question already. It doesn’t even look like it’s because of Star Platinum assisting him. He literally floated at one point and was even gliding in the streets when he was running(flying?) away from Dio. Dio was already pushing my buttons with his SSJ looks and sudden flight powers, now even Jotaro joins him.

    • Overcooled says:

Yeah, your comment last week about the rumours made me think that Jotaro would do something that would make me want to bash my head against a wall. This is the kind of stunt he pulls all the time though so it’s not so bad. But we’ll see how he deals with the next level of Dio…

I don’t know why, I just kind of accepted the fact that they can fly even though it makes zero sense…

    BEST. EPISODE. EVER.

I loved how sneaky Joutarou was being to trick Dio, I guess Joseph has taught him the fine art of “trolling” which is fantastic, but damn I hope Joseph survives all this and now Dio magically leveled up? I wonder if he will reach a higher level if he gets some of Joutarou’s blood next!

Found this on the TheCartDriver LOL cute Dio

    • Overcooled says:

His tricks still aren’t as good as Joseph’s, but at least he’s trying!

Yeah, I think Shinmaru’s posts are the only other Jojo posts I’m following right now. Cute stuff!
