About

Is huge anime fan from Florida! who loves to watch anime and also enjoys drawing and collecting pictures, my favorite genre of anime has to be Mecha, there is just something awesome about giant robots beating the crap out of each other! Other than that type of show, I love a good comedy or action series :D

    EASTER BACON!

    Let us rejoice!

Sin’s mangaka says he has 3 main arcs planned in total, and would like to end it around 20 volumes. He’s also been pondering a sequel arc that could bring the total to 30 volumes.

Also, manga readers voted King as the most popular character in a recent Shonen Jump character poll for Sins.

    • belatkuro says:

      Shounen Magazine, not Shounen Jump.
And I say that character poll is rigged given that it relied on online voting and the gap between the first and second place. Plus Hawk out of the top 10 and beaten by even Oslo and Hendy? Totally rigged.
Wonder how Nakaba felt with King getting 1st given that he likes to make him suffer in the story.

      • Di Gi Kazune says:

That’s nothing compared to the Newtype rankings.

        • BlackBriar says:

What do you mean by that?

          • Di Gi Kazune says:

Newtype character rankings are completely biased. If you ever look at the rankings, characters from shows at least *5* years ago still rank #1. Like characters from Gundam SEED. Not 0, 00 or something more recent, SEED. And primarily Sunny characters. Then again, the magazine IS biased towards a certain fanbase.

            • belatkuro says:

I thought Jesus Yamato has been gone in the rankings for months now. Haven’t seen last month’s chart though.

            • BlackBriar says:

It all comes down to point of view on whether or not something seems bias. For example: a poll on best anime of Summer 2014, Glasslip was placed second last while it got second place for worst TV anime of 2014. I, myself, didn’t like the series at all and I didn’t enter any polls.

            • Highway says:

There’s no such thing as a poll that isn’t biased, especially if it’s voluntarily voted on. That’s inherently selection-biased. Then you get things like Glasslip and Cross Ange, which people vote against for specious reasons.

If you want to use a poll to confirm your biases and make you feel better about yourself, cool. But don’t think it has any relevance outside of that.

            • BlackBriar says:

Hahaha!! How did I know you’d find this?

            • Highway says:

Because I read every comment on this site?

            • Di Gi Kazune says:

              @belatkuro

Yes, Jesus Yamato is *finally* gone. But you realise how long he was on there? It’s like saying the Model T was the best car in the last 100 years.

      • BlackBriar says:

When you get the feeling polls could be rigged, sometimes, does it feel worth it trusting them at all?

    • BlackBriar says:

Also, manga readers voted King as the most popular character in a recent Shonen Jump character poll for Sins.

Really? That’s hard to believe. I always figured most of the popularity would’ve been divided between Meliodas and Ban.

Believe it or not this was the first time I’ve really followed a “typically shounen” program from start to finish. It’s a solid to say I enjoyed it. Some parts and characters more than others. I got some watching fatigue nearer the end, as I like my bombastity short sharp shock. Not one scene after the other carried over to the next episode.

But I love Liz and Hawk, and I loved that bit with Hawk taking it for her. And he came back! Yeah, a bit squeakier, but he came back!

I will probably watch more, as I like how they left with “we have to rethink all this stuff”. I should’t really, but it fit with the show.

    • Foshizzel says:

Yeah typically that is generally how end battles go in Shounen anime aka IT TAKES FOREVERRRRR! If you think Taizai is slow try Hunter x Hunter 2011, but that is a series I love so I can’t poke fun too much xDD

Liz and Hawk are great characters and the perfect team! I am happy Hawk came back, but the impact of his death was powerful which was needed to unlock Liz’s true power so hey it worked out for everyone.

YESSSSS I NEED MOREEEE! I plan on reading the manga though so I might not be as excited since I know what to expect.

      • skylion says:

…I guess I’m lucky this was on the shorter side of foerverrrrrrrrr?

      • BlackBriar says:

I honestly didn’t see Hawk’s death coming. After recovering from that, he’s as much a mystery as Gowther was still alive being beheaded. Ban’s resilience is already explained.

  4. BlackBriar says:

This… this was pure gold. Absolutely fun from start to finish that I couldn’t once find myself bored. The kind of series that is rarity in of itself. The show carried a huge sense of irony throughout its run. The good guys are a group called the “Seven Deadly Sins” whereas their antagonists are “Holy Knights”. Thinking about the inversion frequently left me facepalming with a faint smile. The Sins are all likable in their own way. My favorites are between Meliodas and Ban.

Execution was one of the notable traits. The Sins are undeniably overpowered but carry themselves, showcasing their prowess in a way that doesn’t put you off and rolling your eyes. Another trait here is like DBZ and Yu Yu Hakusho, the characters frequently call out their attacks and with the latter, the series shows the names onscreen.

Personally, I was glad to see Elizabeth get considerable recognition against Hendrickson who gave everyone hell. Particularly that even unknown to her, she was helping people out with her healing powers. For longest time, Elizabeth became labeled a useless asset where it’s the sheer contrary. In the time one of the Holy Knights put Meliodas and Diane under an illusion, forcing them fight one another during the show’s first half, Elizabeth discovered the source and stopped it, all while taking a fierce beating to get the job done.

Out of all who faced Hendrickson, a pig made the heroic sacrifice to protect his friends. Hawk for best mascot!! Sorry Yoru no Yatterman’s Honorable Oda but the captain of the Knights of Leftovers Disposal has you beat!

One of many favorite scenes: Episode 16

*Seven Holy Knights unleash their attacks on the Seven Deadly Sins*:

    Aura Burst!
    Inferno Incantation!
    Plant Whip!
    Bullet Squall!
    Wind Shooter!
    Death Breath!
    Flick Stone!

    Meliodas: Full Counter!

*Seven Holy Knights get wrecked by their own attacks*

Overall, Nanatsu no Taizai was an anime I enjoyed to the fullest. Naturally its end is a bummer but I hope to see more of it in the future.

Of course, we can’t forget that addictive second OP of theirs.

  5. BlackBriar says:

Well, there’s already a Nanatsu no Taizai OVA announced with Ban centered as the lead. There’s no word of a release date yet, though.
