Since I’m not a particularly big fan of GunPla, I mean Gundam, comments will be restricted to RaepAnge.

Summary: WTF are the writers doing. So far the show is using fanservice and raep dorama shock tactics to propel it along. Even Gen’ei Taiyou got the plot development chugging along better than this. I’m sorry to say that Ange(la) (Kugyu) in the upcoming Expelled from Paradise movie looks better in every aspect.

    • Foshizzel says:

less RaepAnge more like comedy hour with those two episodes.

I know nothing about Expelled besides the Butcher working on it, but that is also a movie so they have a bit more time to focus on the story while Ange is 25 episodes so its going to take a while.

Yeah everyone is probably tired of hearing me say that on these posts, but with the way things are going currently it appears that Ange is 75% with her new “transformation” because she is friendly toward a few of the girls.

      • Di Gi Kazune says:

Personally, I rather have old Ange going down the despair pathway into cold, delicious, rock-ice hard revenge and wiping out her worthless family.

I just want a dragon to take out Tusk ASAP. He is spoiling the show.

        • Foshizzel says:

Ahh yea? I guess some people prefer despair Ange, but I can’t wait to see her change into the stronger version.

Oh? I don’t think Tusk is spoiling the show right now, but I will say he is not the most interesting character LOL

  2. Namaewoinai says:

Let’s See Now…The Guy (Tusk) Seen to had a looks of Kira Yamato and Weirdness of Judeu Ashtear and he talks like…um Setsuna F (uh I Forgot the full name)

    Just asking anyways!

    • Foshizzel says:

Yeah he may look like Kira but in all other aspects he is Rito from ToLoveRu since he ALWAYS managed to fall on Ange in some perverted way.

  3. Highway says:

I spent way too much time thinking up bad captions for pictures of Tusk like that (“Tusk takes a trip to the Y”).

I still like the show, and thought that Ange pulled off a pretty good tsundere without obviously trying. Some of the things were just dang silly, like the snake sidling up and biting her upper thigh, but I didn’t think it got too out of bounds. I thought it played on Ange’s naivety very well, like she has no idea how uncommon it is for a guy to have two huge toolboxes full of stuff in the jungle. She’s really not skeptical at all.

    • BlackBriar says:

like the snake sidling up and biting her upper thigh

Tusk pulled a Madan no Ou to Vanadis saving Ange. The last one I recall in a similar scenario was Tigre saving Lim but sucking the snake venom from her clavicle whereas Tusk did his version from Ange’s upper thigh. What are the odds of the same scenario happening in two separate animes in the same season?

    • Foshizzel says:

Ooooh I am sure by now we have seen enough anime to see where that is going aka it is just a “reason” or “way” to get Tusk and Ange together xD

  4. BlackBriar says:

Cross Ange: Finally caught up with this show and it proved worth it. No denying the flaws but still, I find the show interesting to watch so now I just anticipate the next entry to see what happens next.

It took some time but Ange became totally hardcore and fierce. There’s such a contrast between who she was and who she is now that it’s hard to believe the girl was ever raised in a sheltered life as a spoiled cynical brat of a princess. Ange did come on a bit too strong with her change, though, being insensitive to even those who were trying to befriend her so I’m glad to see her time with Tusk on the island helped cool her down.

Two things which I had to roll my eyes at. One was Tusk, who got tied with vines by Ange, just staying there hanging for what seemed like hours on end. Only later when he sees Ange in trouble, does he conveniently have a knife on his person to cut himself free. He must have all the time in the world. Second is the exchange of names. Tusk’s introduction was alright since we went through most of the island episode without his name but Ange giving hers before reuniting with the other Normas felt unnecessary when you think Tusk should’ve already known that. When she decided to stay on the island, she divided their spaces in two. Even going to the trouble of using a curtain to indicate the boundaries. The kicker is she had a sign with her name on it stitched to the curtain to reinforce the difference.

The highlight of weirdness goes to Ange going into… I don’t know… a state of ecstasy (maybe?) right after killing a dragon without the use of her mech. That was really odd. I mean, what was that about? Is that something that only occurs with Normas? It even felt alien to her.

After what they showed with Tusk after Ange’s rescue, it’s a solid bet he’s going to be around more often. Especially the apparent fact he has a connection to the Norma commander Jill.

So next episode, Ange gets her maid back. Now, how did that happen?

    • Foshizzel says:

Congrats on catching up too CROSS RAEP DA ANIMATION! Yeah sadly this is not going to be on my top ten or top fifteen list of anime of this season, but it isn’t entirely un-watchable I still find it entertaining.

Just look at the first five minutes of the first episode and then watch it now because she is sooooo different, but we are getting close to that version of Ange and yeah sadly I think we have some issues with her character development.

Tusk is kind of the odd element in Ange right now! For all we know he was just messing around with her and is in fact a serious soldier? I am just shooting in the dark here because the odds of him being sent to some island to find Ange and try to bring her back seems a little stupid in my head, but yeaaah Tusk isn’t anything special and he is FAR from a Kira Yamato clone that people have been calling him.

All of the girls get off on killing the dragons if you saw in episode three Ange got very excited after she got her mecha/power up and killed that giant dragon.

Yeah Tusk will come back eventually.

I will guess the kingdom got destroyed and she is in need of a job? LOL

Cross Ange: I’m not going to lie, but I did find the last couple of episodes more enjoyable then the rest. If I ignore all the ecchi and other crap and lower my expectations to subzero levels, there are some things to enjoy and that are funny. So, now that I know how to handle this show, I think I can get through it.
Nevertheless, I love the music. I’m pretty much downloaded the OP and especially the ED. I’m hoping for a full version of the song sung in the beginning of the first episode. That one was so beautiful. :)\

G-Reco: Firstly, what happened to the composer? Did he suddenly wake up and apply all the epic music he could think of, because if there was one thing to take away from this episode, it was the awesome score.

Well, we knew Dellensen was going to bite it, and I really like the fight that was fought between him and Bellri (who looks better with his hair up by the way). I like more so Bellri’s grieving response which first be angry at his instructor for “turning into another person” and then later trying his best to deny the man’s death. You can see how wiped out he was after all that, and who can blame him?

I like how Klim Nick goes to save him, but loses his own altitude in the process. The G-self, who seems to have a mind of it’s own at times? , saves both him and Bellri using….the Phoenix Force?

Aannnyyyway…I really like this pirate crew. They have a lot more personality than the Capital guys. Is the reason they are all so ragtag and really diverse and speak perfect English because they are all American Amerian?

And come one guys, which lazy bum in the creative department just decided to name the man in the mask, Mask? Really? Every other Char clone gets a name, and this one just got stuck with “Mask”?

Anyway, this was a really good episode and I’m glad to see this series getting better and better, even though it’s been losing quite a bit of its viewership.

    • BlackBriar says:

In my opinion, it’s best not to have too high of expectations with Sunrise’s works. That I learned from Valvrave and Buddy Complex. Even if they’re fun, don’t have your hopes up for a grand plot or all you’ll get in return is disappointment. For me, shows like these would always end up in the middle region. Not the best but not the worst either.

      • Irenesharda says:

The thing is, I’ve always pretty much loved most things Sunrise has done. I love Valvrave and looked forward to it every single week after class. I love most of their modern mech stuff, and even some of their non-mech stuff. I never finished Buddy Complex, so I can’t say much on that. However, with Cross Ange, I’m guessing the the whole ecchi/yuri/raep-y sexual stuff just completely turned me off since I’ve never been into those genres. I would really love Cross Ange if it didn’t have all that in it, as I love the plot and I like some of the characters to a degree. I’m okay with stuff like that once or twice, even if just for shock value like Valvrave, but this was just too much. So, instead, I’ve just had to tune my brain to completely ignore that and just find the part of the plot and characters that I actually like.

        • BlackBriar says:

I agree. Though all over the place, there were a lot of things to like about Valvrave (The tempting power of being a Magius and using a machine that can practically let you do whatever you want).

However, with Cross Ange, I’m guessing the the whole ecchi/yuri/raep-y sexual stuff just completely turned me off since I’ve never been into those genres.

Yeah, I guess that would be a whiplash for any not used to those genres. The thing is, Cross Ange pretty much made its impression so anything more like what you mentioned won’t get to me so easily anymore because I’ve grown accustomed. That’s why I can watch it without any problem. As for the sexual advances, it’s clearly meant to be used as a means to assert one’s power over the others. Like Zola once did or what her successor Hilda is doing now. Luckily not all Normas resort to such obscure, depraved methods. Besides, with a facility where the entire population is female, you got to expect it has a possibility of happening.

    • Foshizzel says:

Cross Ange: LOL turn down your brain to subzero levels LOLOLOLOL that is great quote for Cross Ange <3

G-Reco: For sure the music was AWESOME for the battle moments from those two episodes~

Same I figured Dellensen was going to eventually get picked off early by the enemy, but to have Bellri kill him was quite the shock! It would be the equivalent to like Kira accidentally killing his parents! Daaamn that is going to take Bellri a while to get over.

Bellri using the phoenix force? LOL nice.

I Lovveeeee the pirate crew! They remind me of the crew of the Gekko State from Eureka 7 because they are a diverse group of non military and ex military types so it works really well as a pirate crew.

I feel bad for MASK cause hes just known as MASK he doesn’t get a cool name like the other masked people and I pray he doesn’t become the main villain in the end even though I would love to see Bellri’s face when he has to fight MASK later on.

I am happy you are enjoying it!

Cross Ange: It kinda feels like this episode didn’t belong in the continuity of things. It was a odd placement among some of the grimdark tropes they’ve been using. I hope they get back to what makes the setting tick in future episodes.

    • Foshizzel says:

I can totally agree some of these episodes don’t fit the overall tone of Ange like the comical or ecchi moments with Tusk/Ange

    • Highway says:

It can’t all be Women’s Prison All The Time. I think they were able to use the ‘vacation’ nature of the setting as a chance to change it up a little bit, to try to show a little bit of character development for Ange. Since we took her out of the prison, she is able to let her guard down a little bit and realize that not everyone is out to get her. I think this is actually something they needed to do, to give her a little bit of mental space so that she could see more of life.

The other thing it does, with that mental space, is give her a realization that all of the people at the prison aren’t Zola or Hilda or Rosalie. They’re not all out to break her. Having Ersha and Vivian happy to see her, after she’s had the opportunity to clear her thoughts, is certain to make a big change in the way she deals with people. I think this is much better character development than they gave her earlier with her “I’m not going to die” bit.

      • Foshizzel says:

I am all for that Highway taking Ange out of the prison element was great, but the extra parts like Tusk falling on top of Ange or the girls trying to pull pranks to get back at her was out of place for me since this is a “dark” world not some happy place to live; however I can agree it was somewhat refreshing to see a different location.

Agreed Ange will learn that there are nice people that actually want to be friends with her instead of wanting to stab her in the back.

        • Highway says:

See, those weren’t ‘pranks’, it was out and out bullying. There might have been some humor in Ange thwarting their efforts, but the attempts were quite serious.

I’ll agree that Tusk’s pratfalls were over the top, but that might be the only way you could introduce actual comedy into this. And perhaps, knowing now how Tusk is actually capable, and not a doof, it was more intentional than one might think.

          • Foshizzel says:

Yeah I guess less prank and more like bullying from the other girls perspective.

Right I think that side of Tusk will be revealed later as him just messing around because the end with him leaving the island was just plain weird! It makes me seriously think he was acting like a goofball?

  7. belatkuro says:

    >no one talking about GBF Try
    I am disappoint.

Still enjoying the heck out of Build Fighters. Sekai ran out of beginner’s luck when he faced Sakai and that’s a good thing. Gives him more time to grow stronger. I’m hoping though that it just doesn’t end with a one shot kill. The staff said that they were aware of the Build Knuckle spam of last season so they want to lessen that.

Mirai tailing them in the ‘date’ was cute. Is she shipping the two or is she jealous that her brother is being taken away from her? Senpai end or wincest end? Either way is fine with me.

I’m interested in that club that uses aquatic type mobile suits. What if they end up in a field like space or a desert? Are they going to swim in space or in the sand? I’m going to call them Team Free!

And Gyanko is fat! There, I said it. Japan seems to like her though seeing that she got a few fanarts before she officially debuted and she’s constantly getting new ones now. Fumina fanarts are still constantly coming out which pleases me a lot 😀

    • Foshizzel says:

Yay! I can always count on Belatkuro to bring me some build fight comments <3

Same I am enjoying the hell out of this new season and yeah Sekai is getting damn lucky lately, but so did Reji in season one! I think we need him to get owned a few times, however since we just started a mini tournament that is highly unlikely.

Mirai is either a bro con or worried that Sekai is going to mess up? Like say something he shouldn't to Hoshino? I mean it is kinda clear that she wants her brother to get closer to Hoshino, but of course for the most part it as played off for the laughs.

LOL team FREE yep that is totally what I called them too and that was a funny statement from Yuuma about that team getting a non water based map! What will they do?! I guess they have backup suits to use?

I thought the same thing on Gyanko, but she is growing on me I think it is great that not every girl has the same build as Mirai or Hoshino.

      Yepp more artz
