Nanatsu no Taizai – 02

Taizai (7)

Elizabeth is having a tough day.

Well I have decided to pick this up for episodic blogging because it after one episode I am hooked and I have to see how the story goes! So what about you? Do you plan on sticking around for more adventures with Meliodas, Hawn and Elizabeth? I know I can’t wait to see where the three of them go together

Powerful Characters

Taizai (5)

Meliodas-“Someone please tell Gilthunder he sucks.”

So what is the first mission for our three main characters? Well for starters they have to find more information on the other knights which means they have to travel around visiting different towns asking questions which is where Meliodas bar comes in handy. I guess if you can get people drunk they tend to spill the beans on whatever they know even if it’s just a rumor it still helps right? Now their first stop took them to the village of Bernia which was known for having the best ale ever, but of course that was the past and sadly the current state this small village is looking bad because of their local water supply being cut off thanks to a very mysterious sword sticking in the ground? I think that was an obvious sword in the stone reference and to go with that story we also had the boy who cried wolf as well because of a little boy named Mead who was always went around telling lies about knowing one of the seven deadly sins which pissed off the villagers and angering a holy knight named Gilthunder who used his sword to teach the town a lesson! Oh and it didn’t help that Gilthunder tried their famous ale and told them to their faces that it tasted terrible and he even went a step further saying that horse piss was better than their ale WOW what jerk!

Taizai (8)

Gilthunder-“No body tells me that I suck! Catch this loser.”

Taizai (9)

Meliodas-“Dude you throw like a girl.”              Gilthunder-“………..”

So I bet some of us are asking how did that sword affect the water supply anyway? To be perfectly honest I don’t really know how, but from what I gathered it was either a magical sword that affects elements or it was just a normal sword used by a really powerful holy knight with magical powers? I think it was more of a holy knight with magical powers especially if you take the final scene at the end of this episode with him throwing a normal spear towards the town of Bernia which is 7.3 miles away! Damn that scene was like a mixture of excitement and terror because now we know just how powerful he really is and I laughed when Meliodas took the same spear and threw it right back at Gilthunder which barely missed his head! Wow I can’t wait to see those two cross swords next week and I suspect it will be up there with Satsuki and Ryuuko’s first epic fight from Kill la Kill which caused all those shock waves and earthquakes to happen around them.

Extra Fantasy

someone give Meliodas a medal for being the smartest character ever.

HNNGGG BEST PIRATE GIRL!

Elizabeth is great <3

Taizai (1)

Gilthunder-“Damn I really loved living in that tower.”

End thoughts

What a great episode! We even got the OP and ED I like the ED cause of FLOW! So this week we did not get a lot of over the top action moments like in the first episode, but what we got was an interesting story with Mead and the village of Bernia so that was nice and I enjoyed seeing Elizabeth tell us a story from her past to go along with Mead’s problem. While that was great I was still amazed by the display of power coming from Gilthunder! I guess that bit was just showing us that the holy knights are quite dangerous and very powerful! Besides that we got some Elizabeth fanservice and her new clothes! So what was your epic moment this week?

About

Is huge anime fan from Florida! who loves to watch anime and also enjoys drawing and collecting pictures, my favorite genre of anime has to be Mecha, there is just something awesome about giant robots beating the crap out of each other! Other than that type of show, I love a good comedy or action series :D

    It’s magic, I ain’t gonna explain shit.
The magic system here won’t really get explained. Just take it that the water got stopped because magic. Makes it easy to understand and less headaches later on.

Been waiting for that spear throw. One thing that this manga excels in is the action scenes. The movements are dynamic and they flow pretty well in each panel. From this part which showed a promising start for the manga, I’m expecting the next fights to be animated well.

OP is good but the ED is better. You can’t go wrong with FLOW and Granrodeo together.
So far so good. A-1 is on a roll this season.

What belakuro said. It’s shounen, so I don’t think we’re meant to think too hard about how swords can stop water.

Gilthunder’s magic is lightning magic. So the water stopped because… lightning element beats water element? I guess?

      • Foshizzel says:

@Sum: Yep magic, magic and oh ya more magic <3

@ii-Pallazzo: I thought that was the case like Gil had control over the elements or something like that, but as everyone said its just magic.

    • Foshizzel says:

Yeah I figured magic was the answer but I wanted to see what everyone thought really happened xD

Yeah I remember that spear throw scene in the manga! I was like OH SNAP that moment is in this episode?! I watched with my brother who doesn’t read the manga so I had to contain my excitement LOL

ED is nice cause FLOW is awesome <3

FOSSSSSH! Get this opening out of my head. I can’t stop listening to it.

I had read a good portion of the manga before the anime aired and I recently caught up. It is very good.

Insanely powerful doesn’t even begin to describe most of the characters in this manga. The Holy Knights are very strong and Gil is strong even compared to the others.

That said, one of the things I love about the protagonists (the 7 Deadly Sins) is that they aren’t weak-willed kids who have recently discovered some mysterious inner strength. They are all battle hardened warriors and each one is insanely strong.

The other thing I really like is their individual back-stories. Some pretty touching stuff hidden in here.

Anyway, I am really looking forward to the other characters showing up.

YESSSSS THAT OP is good but I liked the ED a bit more cause it has all the characters together~

Ohhh? I stopped roughly nine or so chapters into the manga cause I picked up Akame ga Kill and UQ Holder at the time, but I heard tons of praise for Nanatsu no Taizai’s manga so I hope the anime is just as good.

Ahhh yes! I love strong characters and given that the seven deadly sins are knights I assume all of them have combat experience so we shouldn’t really be all that shocked when they start pulling off INSANE moves or displaying crazy magic power.

I think I remember Diane’s back story being a bit sad and it made me generally like her! She is cool and I look forward to seeing the other characters cause I heard the two other guys that join are badass~

This show is so much fun to watch. I love Mel’s innocent lecherousness.

  4. BlackBriar says:

Even better than the opening episode. Hopefully this will continue to deliver on the fun aspect as much as the action. It gives the feel of maintaining that balance. These “Holy Knights” are anything but and it was a serious dick move blocking the river flow just because an asshat didn’t approve of their drink. If you don’t like it, tough. Surely someone else does.
