First Impression – Nanatsu no Taizai

Are you ready for some adventures!? I can’t wait!

Welcome to the wonderful world of Nanatsu no Taizai and yes I have read a few chapters of the manga and I will say out of all the action anime this season adapted from a manga I think this one has the most hype behind it and I really hope this can deliver something fresh as far as the Fantasy genre goes because holy crap is there ever a flood of Fantasy theme anime this season…

HNNGGGGGAAAHH SO CUTE

The first thing most people say about Nanatsu no Taizai is that it reminds them of Fairy Tail due to the same themes and maybe a bit of artistic style as well? I totally see where people are coming from with that comparison because for the most part it works; however the differences is the amount of blood and if I am not mistaken Taizai takes a darker turn later on? Then again I only read past Meliodas and Elizabeth meeting the giant girl Diane which I think we will get in probably episode three or four? I quit reading after that with the announcement of an anime series coming out! So what was this episode really about? Well to jump right in it was just a introduction to the world and the Nanatsu no Taizai aka The Seven Deadly Sins which are a set of really powerful knights and I can assume when we meet them each knight will represent one of the sins or is that not a thing in this series? I honestly have no idea, but I could see that being in interesting part to add to the overall story. Besides that it was revealed that Elizabeth is actually a princess who ran away from home with a mission to find the seven knights and ask for their help in order to save her kingdom from corruption! That sounds simple for a plot, but I don’t think it will be that easy to convince each of these powerful knights to join her side because it anything not all of them will be as friendly as Meliodas right? Speaking of that character I love his care free personailty even though I can see people saying that he is just a Goku-like clone with some a slightly perverted side! Because wow he was all over Elizabeth’s boobs and she did not even slap him. I guess she is either comfortable with him or really confused by the way he acts? While we have him I can’t leave out the BEST DAMN SIDEKICK ever Hawk the talking pig? Holy cow she had me laughing the entire time and it helps that she has an adorable voice. The last thing I will say is WOW the mind blowing artwork during the battle moments? Good god that was fan freaking-tastic artwork and throw in the OST by the Aldnoa.Zero dude Sawano Hiroyuki? Hell ya! If you haven’t seen this episode yet what are you doing!? WATCH IT!

Fk Ya Extra Fantasy

Taizai (5)

GOOD JOB BRO.

Taizai (7)

Seriously no princess is ever happy! or any voiced by Sora Amamiya anyway…

End Thoughts

Oooooh my god that was so much fun! I loved the artwork and character designs! I swear it felt like I was watching some some old DBZ episodes and to my surprise Yuki Kaji as Meliodas did not come off as OH MA SHOE and was generally sounded like a cool character and Sora Amamiya as Elizabeth? Yeah coming fresh off Aldnoah.Zero I think her voice is perfect for the role of Elizabeth and I think she is easily becoming the new Hanazawa Kana or is that setting the bar way to high? Given her track record she generally does really good with the soft spoken characters and of course she can be a badass like Touka from Tokyo Ghoul as well. While those two sold me on their characters Misaki Kuno as Hawk was awesome! I know her character is just a comical sidekick in all of this, but she does play the role of a goof ball really well! I mean did you even see her as Kate in Zvezda or her role as the BATTERU obsessed Tama in WIXOSS? So ya the voice talent is amazing in Nanatsu no Taizai. Besides that I can’t think of anything bad that I did not like about this first episode so yeah what did you think of this episode? Will you watch more or did I convince you to watch it? Either way I hope you at least give it a go.

About

Is huge anime fan from Florida! who loves to watch anime and also enjoys drawing and collecting pictures, my favorite genre of anime has to be Mecha, there is just something awesome about giant robots beating the crap out of each other! Wow, between this and Bahamut we are in the age of awesome fantasy action! What is not to love about this?! I think the design style is a good choice, they’ve taken some of that old school style and cleaned it up a bit. It worked back then, it can work today.

And never let it be said that I’m not equal opportunity, but the Princess is choice. Love her to bits.

Suzuki Nakaba, Sins’ mangaka, has done manga crossovers with Mashima Hiro, Fairy Tail’s mangaka.Suzuki would draw Fairy Tail characters, Mashima would draw Sins characters.

This is what they look like.

Yeah I remember reading that crossover in FT it was interesting and I guess both mangaka are somewhat friends irl? I like that~

Sins started as a prototype oneshot:

The designs and personalities of Elizabeth & Melodias were quite different, and there was no talking pig.

    • Foshizzel says:

Ahhh ya I just checked it out and yeah that is quite the difference xD

    • BlackBriar says:

Wow, a person can’t be blamed if they say those two hardly have any resemblance compared to the anime’s counterparts.

An interesting little fun show. Not wowing me or anything, but I’ll keep watching. However, this looks like it’s going to be one of those epic shounen search shows, which usually take a lot of time and have a lot of filler. We’ll see if they can make me interested enough to stay for the long haul.

    • Foshizzel says:

Yeah I don’t know if this will explode as much as Fairy Tail or Hunter x Hunter in terms of episodes and WOW factor because I fully expect it to take a while until it gets interesting or intense, but ill stick around to see where things go.

      • BlackBriar says:

If the manga does have a lot of chapters, I don’t think the anime will go far with just 24 episodes. If it shows promise, it might get lucky enough to warrant a second season announcement.

        • Foshizzel says:

They have 97 chapters now so not the biggest head start but it works so we should expect some filler moments to extend the anime so it doesn’t dip into the manga plot too much! I think Magi s2 is a good example cause that took forever to get to the end fights.

  5. HannoX says:

I thought this was a pretty fun episode. And Hawk is the best sidekick!

  6. BlackBriar says:

Wow, so far, I haven’t been disappointed with any the series on my list and this is no exception. A fun and carefree opening of an episode. I’ve already taken a liking to the leads. Yuki Kaji and Sora Amamiya are paired up again. And Hawk. My god, that’s one moe pig if I ever saw one. It would be a sin for him to end up butchered.

Yeah coming fresh off Aldnoah.Zero I think her voice is perfect for the role of Elizabeth and I think she is easily becoming the new Hanazawa Kana or is that setting the bar way to high?

Too early to make that conclusion. Still, you can’t deny she’s on a fast track with the roles already under her belt. Like Touka from Tokyo Ghoul, Aldnoah.Zero’s Asseylum and Akame from Akame ga Kill!

The animation is like a blend. Bright new color with old school looking character designs. An interesting choice to make. Not to mention some of the characters look as if they came straight from One Piece.

Looks like this fun will last a while because there’ll be six months of it. That’s right, it’s a 24 episode series!

    • Foshizzel says:

Oh? What else have they been in together? I don’t recall what they have done as a duo and yeah Hawk is quite the moe pig <3

Oh for sure she has time to grow as an actor but so far she has played a mix of cute, serious and goofy roles in the past year and that works for me! Just like Hanazawa Kana she is showing us lots of different range.

True the animation is a bit of both old school and new stuff! Funny you say One Piece cause I could agree with that especially with the giant character in this series because One Piece has several giants running around in that world.

      YEP! So excited.

      • BlackBriar says:

Oh? What else have they been in together? I don’t recall what they have done as a duo

Sora Amamiya and Yuki Kaji played the Kirishima siblings Touka and Ayato in Tokyo Ghoul. It’s not the first time Amamiya was paired with a male seiyuu twice. The other guy was Natsuki Hanae. For Tokyo Ghoul, they were Touka and Kaneki. For Aldnoah.Zero, they were Asseylum and Inaho.

        • Foshizzel says:

Ahh I meant as a main duo cause in Ghoul her brother arrived a little to late for me to actually care I mean yeah he was a badass, but we didn’t get to see that from him.

I remember after Guilty Crown Yuki Kaji went on to do several main team ups with Ai Kayano thanks to Shu and Inori.

  7. Kyokai says:

Not a bad first episode. I do wonder how Melodias’ wanted poster was so macho and then we get a kid who doesn’t age? Makes me wonder about the other knights.

Also, what a wily dude! How many times did he grope Asseylum-hime?!

    • Irenesharda says:

Shhh! You don’t want him to be slained! 😉

    • BlackBriar says:

Also, what a wily dude! How many times did he grope Asseylum-hime?!

Don’t you mean Touka-san or Akame-san? 😉 Either way, he should be dead meat for that.

    • Foshizzel says:

Ooooh I am sure there is a secret behind that, but they do a similar thing with characters on One Piece that have wanted posters that look nothing like their real targets! I guess that is a bit of WHAT THE? LOLOLOL

IKR? I guess she is the sheltered princess who never experienced someone like Melodias before xD
