First Impression: Seikoku no Dragonar

Greetings and welcome to Metanorn’s First Impression of Seikoku no Dragonar. I am the Fresh Meat, skylion. Please treat me well. I am joined by none other than the mighty Foshizzel. Try to keep it low key ladies. Man, Fosh, what are we getting ourselves into here? Is that a FK YA, or what?

Familar Of Dragons?

Skylion// This show is based off the LN, and likely, the manga adaption, written by Shin Mizuchi. We are introduced to Ash Blake, the problem child of Ansarivan Dragon Academy. Now just why is he causing all these problems? Everyone else has a dragon partner, or pal, making it just fine in school life. What’s Ash’s deal? Ah yeah. He has the unrivaled talent to ride anyone else’s dragon, and his own pal has yet to be born. Was there a problem in the Astral pipeline?
I really enjoyed watching this one it’s nice to have a good fantasy to cheer for.even if it is a bit too Familar of Zero in its bits and boobs. The colors really pop out and the character designs are pretty sharp. All the curves are in the right places. So are the flat parts! There were some rough spots in the animation, but the action scenes moved the pacing along just right. I even liked that cliff scene. I’ve enjoyed meeting the Princes and the Student Council President. We got some harem material in these two plus another far more aggressive character waiting in the wings. In having read the manga, I eagerly anticipate how well they will handle the characterizations. Anya is quick as an assassin, but she will have some neat depth worth exploring. And of course we get our LOLi dragon pal.

Fosh// Another anime series based off a light novel? That doesn’t really surprise me much since we have seen a ton of adaptations of novels flooding each season of new anime! So what will this series even focus on? Just like Skylion said I totally get the whole harem vibe after seeing the usual types of girls like the rich princess type, big boob student council president, LOLi dragon girl, random assassin, childhood friend and who could forget the pervy male side kick character? Other than the obvious suspects I enjoyed how there were different types of dragons that range from flying types, ground types and water types much like the MMORPG Dragons Prophet which I haven’t really played; however with Seikoku I am curious to see how the others treat the LOLi dragon since she appears to be human? I know in most typical dragon “lore” it really is not all that uncommon to have dragons that have the power to transform into human or a human that turns into a dragon like some of the dragons found in World of Warcraft. Also what are these kids training on dragons for? Are we going to get a war themed arc with another faction later on? I assume so because of that assassin girl and mysterious masked dude who I swear is straight out of Gundam! I guess we will see if this show can take flight to bring us a possible classic fantasy themed anime.

End thoughts
Well, we got the end and we got the promised LOLi dragon. One thing to keep in mind is the manga kind of plays her as more in a supporting character for a bunch of chapters. But she will have some amazing moves in future episodes. So what are you looking forward to Fosh?
I kind of enjoyed this first episode Skylion! It had magic, dragons and surprise LOLi main character who I fully expect to be a carbon copy tsundere or will we get something different? I really hope she is not too mean to our main character, but at least the dragons themselves were not full blown CGI because that would have been TERRIBLE!! So yeah this was fun for me but what did you all think? Are you plan on following this series or did it make you fall asleep?

Welcome to the team skylion and looking forward to the shows you’d be blogging this season(I am 70% certain you’ll be the one blogging this in MetaFap).
As for this premiere, it’s really nothing fancy. The plot is nothing new and you can name several shows that bear some similarity to it. But that doesn’t mean it’s bad, at least for me. It’s how it’s played I guess and so far it’s still watchable.
I feel that Sakura Ayane(Silvia) and Inoue Marina(Rebecca) should have switched roles, mostly because the former’s voice was a bit deep than I imagined. And Marina is better at doing a tsundere(yes, Silvia is one).
For a new studio, the animation seems decent. At least the dragons aren’t CG. The character design is also nice.
And I’ll just chalk it up to dragon magic as to how Ash survived that fall when Eco came out. I can’t remember exactly how he survived that in the LN/manga.
I’ve read up to volume 4 of the LN and 23 chapters of the manga of this so I’m wondering how much it’ll cover. In any case, I’ll follow this just because I can. Nothing like a naked dragon loli to liven up the weekends.
Prepare yourselves though if you saw the PVs as there are some…nasty things to happen.

That was the thing with me for at least two or three years. I always wanted to submit, but just thought that I would be a complete jerk if I couldn’t commit the time. I actually got lucky this season.

What did I think of this? Well, it’s the second ecchi series I’ve seen so far this season and luckily, it hasn’t pissed me off by being a horrible start off. For Ash being able to use any dragon, clearly he has special traits. This was alright so I’m inclined to watch more.
Whoever strapped her down should consider themselves lucky she’s not Elfen Lied’s Lucy (Looking at the horns) or they’d find themselves all over the floor in pieces.
