Log Horizon – 20

log horizon (6)

Shiroe is recruiting magical girls err I mean new guild members for Log Horizon.

spring13-jrowIndeed, what a nice episode of Log Horizon we have to talk about this week, and this time Kyokai joins Fosh & I to talk about the attempt to revive Rudy and the rest of the battling with Krusty and the others.

 —————————————

spring13-foshI finally caught up to the recent episodes and man do I love this series? This is how you adapt a game-related story rather than what SAO or even Ixion Saga did previously. This specific episode was a highlight because of achieving something impossible in turning a NPC to an adventurer. Really, such a touching moment, plus more shipping with badassedary of Crusty. Good stuff.

—————————————

spring13-foshWooooooooooooo! Time for more goblin hunting and of course we will discover the fate of Rudy.

The fine print on the contract: Shiroe requires him to make shota pr0n in secret. Isuzu will not be disappointed.

How many LN volumes is the anime covering? And to date, have the LNs answered why everyone is stuck in this universe?

    Ps. Everyone is FLAMENCO.
    Even me.
    Even YOU!\(°∀°)/*laughs manically*

    • br0 says:

The anime will end at volume 5.

There are 7 volumes so far, and no answers for your question.

    • Highway says:

I personally like that the show is, essentially, ignoring the “why are we stuck here” question, and focusing more on the “Let’s make a life, since this is the life we have to live” issue. I find it much more realistic that people would stop having that question on the forefront of their mind after a while.

Granted, in SAO, they had an end condition to shoot for, so that would keep them thinking about it. In LH, there’s no known end condition or goal, so might as well not worry about it.

      • Foshizzel says:

True I do love that fact about LH how the characters are not 100% obsessed with finding a way out of the game while that was the main issue with SAO’s first half, but I kind of feel they will address it in LH before the season ends and who knows we might get more or not since I saw br0 say we are ending on volume 5 leaving only 2? I guess it could work…

      • skylion says:

But, while they got busy with “Making a life here”, the Goblin King Event happened, while they were busy making other plans. What if the Princess had not decided to leave her castle?

        • Foshizzel says:

Trueeeee! Also did you notice Shiroe had a lot of papers in his bag? I wonder if all the NPCs are offered to become adventurers?

          • skylion says:

It’s a high input cost. I would assume the items are rare drops. Plus, how many scribes are on Megane-kun’s level?

          • Kyokai says:

I think those papers are more of his planning notes than contracts (remember him and Marielle buried in paperwork on different times, while planning for take over the Guild building?).

            • AllenAndArth says:

why would he carry those around him all the time? it would be awkward to get the wrong one in a battle…

  3. Cybersteel says:

Didn’t Akatsuki’s seiyuu voice Kyubey in PMMM?

    • skylion says:

…yep, and Hachikuji Mayoi from the Bakemonogatari franchise.

    • Kyokai says:

Yes, Emiri Katou. She is also voicing Hajime from Hamatora this season.

      • Di Gi Kazune says:

Gakumazawa Tatsuko should actually be here instead of below.

Akatsuki + Serara + Nyaanta to be the only survivors at the end.

    • BlackBriar says:

Yeah, seiyuu Emiri Katou. Also known for voicing Ben-To’s Ayame Shaga and Haganai NEXT’s Kate Takayama.

  4. Di Gi Kazune says:

    Gakumazawa Tatsuko.

  5. Noc says:

I am extremely disappointed that you chose Nyanta for the preview picture instead of milady Isuzu!!!

  6. AllenAndArth says:

The evil in glasses beat the universal laws…
    and
    the reviving was awesome
Boss-Lady has a sexy voice…even if i can only understand half of it(just kidding Boss-Lady)
    and
The Pinocchio remark was spot on

    • Kyokai says:

Why thank you! That’s my half-asleep voice because I just woke up before the recording. xD

  7. BlackBriar says:

Well, we’ll see if the former of the two will improve since Sword Art Online II will be airing later this year.

Rules really are meant to be broken, it seems. Though Rudy is now an adventurer, I doubt anyone’s told him that he’s just interacting with the avatar of actual people and that they’re from a different reality.

I’m curious about something. If Shiroe was able to bend the rules of the game by helping a non revivable character cheat death and change his class completely, then there shouldn’t be any restrictions on say, the player’s special abilities. Like Accel World for example when Haruyuki developed his laser sword attack.

    • skylion says:

That would be up to how far the creators want to bend credibility in the story. What I like about the show is they display how ideas can progress. If you can make a Person of the Land an Adventurer, with tools at hand, that describe a new power paradigm? Then show the progress.

In Accel World’s case it was a strict shounen process. I expect LH to give us far less shouting about it.

      • Kyokai says:

Whenever they are bending the rules, they properly explain things in the process, which is much better than power ups that are conveniently discovered; by protagonists. With this though, I’m really curious on what they would do next. From the hints we have received, they are already in process of industrializing with steam engines and advanced weaponry. Will they be able to produce electricity or better tools for tech advancement? Let’s see.

    • Highway says:

Though Rudy is now an adventurer, I doubt anyone’s told him that he’s just interacting with the avatar of actual people and that they’re from a different reality.

Kind of a hard thing to try to convince him of if he’s not going to believe it. And in reality it doesn’t matter. They can’t access any different reality. They can’t go be ‘actual people’, and in the world of Elder Tale, they’re no more ‘real’ than the People of the Land. It really encourages solipsism.
