I see dead people.
Since it’s already got an imouto, ImoCho decides to balance things out by introducing an onee-chan character in the form of Yukina. The childhood friend of Yuuya, Yukina apparently used to be a tomboy. But there’s no mistaking that she’s a girl now that she’s uhh… grown up and filled in. What’s interesting is that apparently she can see both Hiyori and Mitsuki in their ghostly forms. This, coupled with her subtle personality shift in episode three suggests that just perhaps, she might be possessed as well. Personally I wonder why Mitsuki and co. would not be able to see her ghost as well, but I guess we can chalk it up to a ghost being able to remain hidden somehow or something. Having such supernatural elements affords the show leeway. Assuming this to be true, the question then becomes “who is possessing Yukina and why?” As far as the who goes, we pretty much have no idea so far. But as for why, I’m willing to bet it has something to do with her past desire to become more womanly. Which, she has succeeded in by simply growing up.

Also suspicious is Neko, who very obviously seems to know what’s going on with Mitsuki. This, in addition to the gate of heaven appearing behind her in the OP is most likely indication that she is the person in charge of these ghostly possession deals. Sort of like the president in Noucome. But anyway, the meat of the two episodes lies in episode four. Watching Hiyori getting all lovey-dovey with Yuuya in Mitsuki’s body is good and all. But the important bit is the way the siblings’ relationship grows as a result. Namely, it’s clear that Mitsuki has grown closer to her new brother. She may still be a little reluctant to admit it, but hearing him affirm that she should be herself probably helped her see him in a better light. And this is doubly important, because I’m pretty sure this acknowledgement is what dictates whether Hiyori or Mitsuki is “in charge.” Not simply because Yuuya says one personality is favorable, but more as a result of who between the two he is closer with. And as he only knows Mitsuki as herself, he can’t acknowledge or feel at home with Hiyori in her body.

Speaking of Hiyori though, the show again teases us with some very slight revelations about her. Well, to be honest we learn nothing new since we could have gathered that she knew Yuuya when she was still alive. But what matters is that Yuuya is reminded of this girl he once knew, who might have been her. For the moment, he hasn’t made the connection that she might be in control of Mitsuki’s body. Because quite honestly who would come to that conclusion? But I’m beginning to wonder what will happen if he somehow comes to the realization that what he thinks is Mitsuki’s “alternate personality” is actually the girl he once knew. After all, I’m pretty sure he was able to see Hiyori’s ghostly form for a brief moment, even if he might have thought it was just an illusion. Now that might have some serious implications for whether Mitsuki can retain control of her body.

I’ll be right up front with this: If you’re expecting hard-hitting analysis and / or scintillating prose about Super Sonico the Animation, you’re in the wrong place. There’s not really anything to analyze in this show, and why would we want to anyway? So it’s a good thing that that’s not really the point of these posts. But we can definitely talk about some of the things that happened, while we look at cute pictures of Sonico.

This week, Sonico takes a trip to Okinawa for gravure modeling (for the terribly named magazine “Young Spawn.” Absolutely awful name). And while she’s there, drunk “Ma-nay-ja-san” manages to get her roped into being a guest damsel in distress in a local tokusatsu production being attacked by a tentacle monster. But he makes up for it by fending off the poor actor in the squid suit and earning his own guest credits in the show. Otherwise, it’s Sonico being positive and helpful as much as she can, and being her normal self. With a lot of new people, I think my favorite part of the show is Sonico’s self-introduction of “Soopa Sohnico tomoushimasu!” It’s certainly very endearing, and still a pleasant show overall to watch.

Maken-Ki! Two – 02
I made the same face while watching this episode.
Welcome back to the crappiest harem anime ever created! Like seriously who writes the script for this series? After missing panties and bras last week surely they wouldn’t follow that up with another stupid plot right? NOPE! This episode follows Haruko losing her memories after someone steals her overpowered sword? Fine whatever I guess the positive side to this mess was the slight romance development between Haruko and Takeru which almost resorted in sexy time in the sports equipment room; however everything comes crashing down after Haruko regained her memories and afterwards she promptly beats the livin hell out of Takeru who honestly did not deserve that because clearly Haruko was the one taking charge and yeah I know she wasn’t really herself at the time, but at least it appears that she has real feelings for Takeru even though I really do not care about the “romance” found in this terrible anime.
Almost as good as Vividred Operation! Just kidding we know who wins that debate.

Let’s have a warm welcome for a new addition to MetaFap: Sakura Trick! I got to join anaaga for the First Impression of this nice yuri show, and really enjoyed it. And as far as I’m concerned, it’s just gotten better from there.
There is a LOT of kissing in this show. Plus, who sends the flirty girls to the equipment room together?
Episode 2 gave us our first look at Kotone and Shizuku and their circumstances. Kotone’s living at Shizuku’s house, but of course there’s some misunderstanding that Shizuku thinks she’s an afterthought. They quickly work through that, tho, and Kotone and Shizuku make up and become a couple. The second half was trying to keep Yuu from getting expelled for failing her classes, and trying to figure out a way to help her study. Of course Haruka runs through the most embarrassing ways of helping her, with strip studying, and eventually landing on kiss studying. It’s still not going to make Yuu a great student, but hopefully she won’t flunk out.

Episode 3 introduced Yuu’s onee-san Mitsuki who (of course) is the Student Council President. She’s also curious about Haruka, since she’s never actually seen her face because she only comes to visit Yuu when Mitsuki is sick or on a trip. She doesn’t even get to see her face until halfway through the segment, either, since she busted her glasses. But she also realizes what a good friend Haruka is for Yuu… right before she walks in on the two of them making out in Yuu’s room. It definitely looks like Mitsuki is the foil for Haruka and Yuu, since she’s even in the OP as the chaperone. Plus she gets mad when she sees Haruka’s aiaigasa (that “love umbrella” thing) with “Haruka” and “Yuu”. We’ll have to see what she really thinks about their relationship in the future, because it’s really none of her business, but she’s probably going to be a busybody about it.

This show is still cute and lovely and sexy. I’m still a bit surprised they’re going the way they are, but I sure don’t mind. I also like the OP song, with its minor pun: “won chu (Japanese for ‘kiss’) kiss me”. I’m interested to see how far they take Yuu and Haruka’s relationship, and also to see if Yuzu and Kaede catch the yuri bug. So far they’ve been content to just comment on how flirty Yuu and Haruka are.

Super Sonico The Animation: Let’s face it. Sonico is the manager’s surrogate daughter and we all know how protective fathers are, especially when they feel their girls are being inappropriately exposed.
Sakura Trick: Ack! This is too much! I may die of yuri overload! My goggles are fastened so tight they feel like they’re welded onto my face. So far, Haruka and Yuu are the best yuri pair this year.

Super Sonico The Animation – 03: Sonico is in good hands with a manager that cares so much about her well being and judges the acceptable level of her exposure while picking jobs. The guy makes a good father figure. He just needs to watch himself and his surroundings or end up becoming his own worst enemy.

Sakura Trick – 02 and 03: So Sakura Trick made its way into MetaFap. Fine by me. For a slice of life show, there’s an unusual amount of sexual tension. It’s already gold with the girls being so cute but even better when they’re making out and Haruka is always the one making the moves. She has a lot of lust for someone who hardly seems perverted.

I think it’s important for the show that Haruka isn’t always the one making the moves. While she’s usually the initiator, there are enough times that she isn’t to keep it from feeling like Yuu is only going along with her, for instance when she thanked Haruka after their studying or when she pushed Haruka down in her room.

Maken Ki: As tired as this show’s plots are, these one-shots they’ve had for the first two episodes are far more palatable than the story arcs they tried to use for the first season. I’d guess they’re going to screw that up soon and try to introduce some terrible organization of villains, but at least for now, it’s better than the first season.
Although there are sometimes where boobs are just *too* big.

Yeah, that’s what I imagine too. Whenever Yuki-nee “peers” at Mitsuki, she has this almost puzzled look on her face as if she’s trying to make out something sort of blurry.

Maken-Ki! Two – 02: Hahaha, Fosh, I may be new to this series but it’s clear this is one where you need to turn off your brain and go with the flow to enjoy. It’s kind of pointless to put stock in the romance aspect when the story is this overrun with fanservice. Not to mention it doesn’t have the same structure and possibility of romance like High School DxD.
The main stuff aside, I’m beginning to like the vice president after the display she pulled chastising the culprit, especially with that cheerful, almost innocent appearance clashing with her dominatrix outfit. And there’s the fact her eyes are always closed. Oddly enough, that reminded me of Freezing’s Chiffon Fairchild and she was a beast. Beware of characters that are always quiet or going about their daily lives with their eyes continuously closed.

The key to the show really is the sincerity. Everyone is just normal people doing their best to do what they want to do. And I still think it’s great that Sonico is zaftig.

Personally, I’d love to see Haruka x Yuu keep advancing their intimacy level. Even if they don’t directly show it, having them progress would be authentic and interesting, as well as keep Mitsuki involved in the show. Given that Yuzu and Kaede aren’t really a couple in the OP the same way that they present Yuu x Haruka or Kotone x Shizuku, I don’t think they’ll get that way. But it wouldn’t hurt to have just a friends couple in the show.
Trading partners would be bad with Haruka’s jealousy. Heck, even when Yuu was just comforting Shizuku, Haruka was almost flipping out.

ImoCho – 03-04: I’m not liking how inconsiderate Hiyori is being toward Mitsuki. Come on, the girl is not a puppet. She never asked to end up like this and here she is constantly pushed into unwilling things.
Yuuya might the first plain, uninteresting protagonist to find out something on his own without anyone else pointing it out.
