How Hiyori met her end.
Forging a contract.
So let me get this straight. A girl dies but can’t get into heaven because she has regrets. These regrets are a result of not being able to be lovey-dovey with her beloved “onii-chan.” This includes sexy time amongst other things. To satisfy her regrets, she forces a contract on said onii-chan’s new sister to use said girl’s body to engage in lovey-dovey acts with the guy. To symbolize this contract, an unremovable chastity belt is attached to the girl, with only a three minute window every hour during which it can be released for necessities. So uhh… how exactly does having this chastity belt enable or promote sexy time? As is aptly noted in this episode, it should get in the way instead. Also, I question the necessity to kill the poor imouto who’s had all of this forced upon her without much say in the matter. But we can let that go for plot purposes, I suppose. Otherwise there wouldn’t be much real motive for Mitsuki to take the initiative, which, I should mention, she has not been doing so far.

Moving on, it looks like ImoCho continues with the pee fetish into this second episode. The last time I saw this fetish in action was in Kiss x Sis, but let’s not go there. These are dark places, and I’m personally not a fan of the stuff. But hey, whatever floats your boat. Or pitches your tent. Or some other suggestive euphemism. At the rate the show is going, recurring themes will include the aforementioned peeing and a brief yuri finger session between Mitsuki and Hiyori. But I wonder how long the latter will continue. If Hiyori’s “satisfaction” could be sated by her getting another girl off, it would be a piece of cake for her to get into heaven. Surely they’ll have to move on to more risque matters with Yuuya soon enough. Plus, I notice they didn’t show the chastity belt filling up this time around, though that might just have been deemed besides the point instead of not actually happening.

Finally, I want to say that in spite of its really raunchy and naughty depictions, ImoCho is doing a very decent job of keeping things surprisingly tasteful. Perhaps more aptly, it’s keeping things from being completely trashy. The story actually follows the imouto of the incest show, and her shy attitude towards her new brother is refreshingly realistic (as opposed to having the hots for him due to incomprehensible reasons). Plus, the onii-chan here is actually a nice and thoughtful guy. I really like how he genuinely looks out for his new sister. It’s just his watchfulness is sometimes unfortunately timed, as we (and Mitsuki) are painfully aware of here. Oh, and I guess that ED really does show Hiyori’s life before she died as we might have expected? We might still want to take it with a grain of salt though, considering the lack of solid details from even the ghost herself.

Super Sonico The Animation – 01 & 02

Some people just live a charmed life. And one of them is Super Sonico. This series by White Fox features the Nitro+ mascot and her family and friends as they… do stuff. There wasn’t a lot of information about this prior to the season, there’s no source material, it’s basically just a show that they’re making up as they go along. Some people have expressed disappointment that the show even exists, while others have wondered how it can be any good. So how is it?

The answer is: It’s really not bad. SoniAni isn’t gonna win any awards for anything (not even worst show), but it’s actually a pretty pleasant watch. Sonico is a girl who, as I said above, leads a charmed life. She’s a model, she’s a guitarist and singer in a band, she’s a college student, she helps out at her grandmother’s restaurant, and the worst thing that happens to her is that she can’t manage to wake up, even with umpteen cats and alarm clocks trying to get her up. But for all her goodness, the show isn’t nearly as vapid as it might appear at first blush (and more blushes, because Sonico blushes a lot). Sonico is played pretty well by Ayano Yamamoto, whose only role you might recall is Nae Tennouji from Steins;Gate and Robotics;Notes. She has an earnestness and embarrassment that really works to disarm the Mary Sue aspects of the character, and make you interested in Sonico succeeding.
Whoops, wrong costume
The first episode was about her gravure modeling, with a skeevy magazine guy who wanted her to wear something ultra-revealing, but her scary manager put a stop to that. The second episode transitions into more about her band, First Astronomical Velocity, which seems to be the main theme of the show. A girl trio rock band, they have practice and even a live but poor Sonico ends up on the bad end of a bad costume from her bandmate Suzu that melts when she sweats.
Don’t mess with Kitamura Manager-san
The show has some fanservice, but not any nudity, and really doesn’t go overboard with anything. On top of that, Sonico has a pretty voluptuous body, especially for an anime character, with an actual tummy, hips, and thighs. She’s not a super thin waif, but looks like you’d expect a gravure model to look. Overall, the show’s a nice half hour to watch, and is a lot better than it could have been.

Maken-Ki! Two – 01
Maken-ki is back and so are the massive boobs.
The wonderful derp world of Maken-Ki is back again and this time Xebec only made ten episodes?! Wait what? Not enough DVD sales to land TWO more episodes? Not that anyone really cares right? I barely remember what even happened with the first season, but this first episode kicks off with a giant mystery about a mysterious pervert at the school who is stealing bras? OH MY GOD THE HUMANITY! Wait do the girls in this series even wear bras in the first place? While the story was really dumb for the first episode I suppose it was cool watching Takeru unleash his awesome power when boobs were suddenly in danger just like Issei Hyoudou from High school DxD. So yeah that was probably the highlight of the episode for me even though I only watch Maken-ki for the fun side characters like Kodama Himegami, Uruchi Minaya, Azuki Shinatsu and finally the best girl Inoho Kushiya.
I hope Himegami washes her feet afterwards.
I bet all of these girls have great back stories.
I guess the principle has the biggest power level.

ImoCho – 02: Well, this show may not be noted much for skin being shown but it will get a huge vote in its use of foreplay.
I’d rather see the action myself than being told about when things get really heated. Damn it!Boy, do I feel sorry for Mitsuki being dragged into such an oppressive situation. That’s something I wouldn’t wish on any girl. It’s just too unreasonable.

Maken-Ki! Two – 01: Tsk. I had a chance to watch the first season when it was airing but didn’t for whatever stupid reason I can’t recall. Damn it!! So much regret now because this was really funny. Now I know there are cup sizes to go beyond F. Whoever persevered to get such data for our knowledge deserves a medal. They’ve earned my respect.

Super Sonico The Animation – 01 & 02: If not for the fanservice parts, I would’ve questioned this being MetaFap worthy because it was pretty much slice of life. This is a likable show and I can easily find myself enjoying it and there’s nothing negative that can be found so far.
The one thing that was out of the box was Sonico’s manager. It was really odd accepting that he wears that mask on a daily basis and the staff is hardly flustered by it. But he does have a kind of brotherly/fatherly atmosphere when he was concerned about Sonico’s state of mind. For strange, eccentric characters, he’s right up there with the brother from Sasami-san@Ganbaranai who always hides his face and the section chief from Servant x Service who parades around as a bunny.

ImoCho: I didn’t like that the humor of the first two episodes depended so much on pee and embarrassing Mitsuki because of it. So I wasn’t sure if I’d watch the third episode or not, but in the end I did. At least it didn’t depended upon bathroom humor this time, but once more much of the humor involved embarrassing her. And as has been pointed out the whole bit of a chastity belt makes no sense when sex is the goal, unless oral sex counts? At any rate, I suppose I’ll give it the four episode try.
Super Sonico: It may be a pleasant bit of fluff, but halfway through Ep. 2 I got bored and realized I don’t care what goes on with her and her band mates so I stopped watching it. I’ll get my idol fix from Wake Up, Girls! a much better show.
Maken-ki: I watched the first season and found it pretty bad. I like big boobs (and small ones and average ones), but not when they’re so big as to be ridiculous–that’s off putting. And almost every girl is unbelievably top heavy? So I had no intention of watching this season, but the comments here sound like at least the first episode is better. So maybe I’ll give it a try after all.
Damn, lately I’ve been making a lot of negative comments regarding this season’s shows (but not for all the shows). I’m turning into a real curmudgeon. Maybe I can blame it on age since I’m over 60.

Maken-ki: I was actually pretty surprised at the first episode of this show. It was better than my memory of the entire first season (of course the first season went totally off the rails with that Venus Unit). It’s not great, but it wasn’t terrible. A lot better than a lot of the second series premieres we’ve seen of shows of this genre.

At least so far, they’ve really hit the sweet spot. It would be so easy for a show like this to be just moronically stupid, or exceedingly vapid. But while it’s not exactly the height of controversial thought or deep philosophical meaning, it’s earnest and cute, and as you say very pleasant to watch. So far they’ve played Sonico and her friends right down the middle, in such a way that her being Miss Perfect doesn’t really grate on you.
