First Impressions: Choujigen Game Neptune the Animation
Date a live 2.0 maybe?
At first glance after seeing the trailers I instantly thought that Neptune looked like another Date a Live clone and I suppose having the same character designer Tsunako makes that fact stand out even more, but I have a feeling this will be half cute girls doing cute things while fighting random monsters because this is based off a video game series.

With each passing anime season we have seen a lot of video game adaptations get the anime treatment and I always given them a shot even though I have never played the original video games, but thankfully they always keep me entertained and who knows maybe after watching the series I might try out the original games? So what is it about Neptune that has me interested besides the Date a Live character designs which look fantastic! For starters I have always loved the world of sci-fi anime even though I would classify Neptune as having a mixture of both fantasy and sci-fi especially after the girls killed all those slime monsters and that massive dragon in the cave? So was anyone else confused about the characters at the start of the episode? I know I was scratching my head after I saw the heart goddesses transform into their main bodies named Vert, Noire, Blanc and Neptune. I guess these four girls will be the main focus of the story along with several cute little sisters and lots of side characters; however the idea of having two personalities in one body has been done before with past anime like Yumekui Merry, Black Rock Shooter, Date a live and there are probably lots of others out there while that idea is nothing brand new I have always found it to be very interesting because it gives all the voice actors a chance to act complete differently for two characters and this cast is quite impressive!

End thoughts
Well that was a very interesting first episode! Even though I was confused the entire time but I guess this is going to be a massive story about friendship or something cheesy about being responsible with great power? While the story is kind of slow right now I look forward to seeing more transformations and awesome fighting in the future of Neptune the Animation! So who was your favorite character? I know that is quite early to ask with only one episode to judge from but for me I liked watching Neptune, Nepgear, Rom, Ram and Noire do their thing this week; however I have a feeling just like Date a Live this series will probably end up being dropped really fast if nothing exciting happens soon or will the random fanservice keep you wanting more?

Man, was this silly (and not really in a good way). Sega, er, Neptune’s cool in her goddess form, but is a really annoying brat in her other form, which she spent most of her time in. And where did Xbox get that dress that she was falling out of?
The character designs are ok, but man the plot was pretty bad so far.

This caught my interest and could be another Vividred Operation thanks to these moe characters and their transformation. Also, you could feel the Sword Art Online/.hack//SIGN vibes as you continue to watch their virtual world. Right now, I’d have to designate favorite character as Noire. She’s desciplined and mentally strong but she needs to lighten up a bit.
What I liked the most was the tribute to French language by giving some of the characters French translated names.

Yeah, I can see those connections so much to the point that the show will turn out almost like VividRed.

Yeah, they’re French. I noticed it the moment I started hearing their names. The Japanese seem to have a thing for introducing other languages into their material like using French here and in Gosick and German in Shingeki no Kyojin.

Basically Console War: the game/anime. As some1 who is familiar with the game, it captures the spirit of the game perfectly. 😀 Heck the insert song is frm the OP of the 1st game.
Holy Victory (3rd game) cameos! The girl Compa bump into twice and the Bluehead magician girl in the beginning are frm Victory. Hope Bluehead play a larger role than just cameo because I dig her design.

I knew they were videogame consoles after reading the bio for Noire but I had no idea all of them were? That is awesome and Vert would be my favorite because I do love me some xbox 360.
