Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S – 11

Touma is back along with his misfortune super powers

Now that Misaka finished her epic battles against ITEM it is time to take a breather for a bit to enjoy something new, but I have a clear picture in my head where things are going after someone mentioned the tree diagram and of course with Touma’s sudden appearance I can’t wait to see where things end up this time!

The adventures of Misaka and Touma

railgunzS (3)

Misaka-“Just remember this is MY SERIES not yours!”                    Touma-“Fine I get it!”

With the passing of the previous episode it left us with something interesting and by interesting I mean poor old Touma getting trolled by a vending machine that loves to eat money, but you are probably asking yourself wait a minute have we seen this before? The answer is yes and for something fun you should go back and watch episode ten of Index season one and you will see Misaka, Touma, Kuroko and MISAKA 10031! I looked it up and was like whoa this is so strange, but this time around we get to see everything from Misaka’s perspective like her conversation with her clone after she pulled her away from Touma? That scene made me feel bad for Misaka because even though she blew up all the labs she still did not stop the experiments, but at least she now her eyes are open to the idea that Academy city as a whole is freaking evil! I might as well talk about the tree diagram since it was mentioned even though most of us already know chain of events playing out with Misaka, Touma and Index who technically she is the one who destroys the tree diagram with her epic dragons breath! So what is the tree diagram anyway? The way I understood it was a giant super computer that contains all the research data on various experiments, but I always thought it controlled Academy City as in the security and things like that? Also I thought it was cool that we saw how Accelerator got pulled into the experiments along with Ao Amai who will play an important role later on.

Extra Railgun fun!

End thoughts

Yay! Misaka and Touma together once again and of course Kuroko is just around the corner to make sure her precious Onii-sama ends up hating men, but her logic behind that made me laugh! Sadly I know Touma will probably never ever confess any feelings for Misaka because he kind of has a lot to deal with especially with taking care of Index; however I just love watching the two of them together even though most of their conversations involve yelling? So what did you enjoy from this episode? I kind of liked MISAKA 10031 popping up for a bit and how Accelerator got pulled into the experiment originally! Also Kuroko? Holy crap she had some of the best reaction faces this week, but next week should be interesting and I think that this new arc will last roughly two to three episodes? I know we are finally building up to the ultimate showdown between Touma and Accelerator that everyone is waiting to see.

You’re right about tree diagram; initially it was launched in space to calculate earth’s atmosphere to predict the weather one month ahead of time. But all of that was just a pretense to get the satellite to be launched into space as a watchful eye of academy city and soon, academy city started relying on it for all its calculations.

What a crazy computer! I wonder what kind of graphics card it runs on? Imagine using it for gaming, but yeah I do remember after it gets blown up it caused chaos for a bit or I am thinking of it wrong? I dunno either way the tree diagram is bad news.

  2. skylion says:

Yep, lots of fun seeing it from the Railgun side. Not so much fun seeing her go into despair mode, but we all know she pulls it together in time.

Goodness, Kuroko, friend-zoned without even trying all that much. Just hook up with Saten-san and call it a happy ending….

You know, I always thought Index’s Dragon’s Breath was a bit too darn convenient, plot wise. The sky is wide open, and she just happens to hit one of the most important features there…

    • Foshizzel says:

Amen! Also the change in how Misaka acts originally is also different but not THAT important to the story or plot just a tiny thing.

I feel bad for Kuroko sometimes and thanks to Saten for putting the idea of Misaka with a boyfriend into her head kind of makes things tough…

Right! Its like of all places Index’s dragon breath managed to hit the tree diagram? Course most of us are used to anime logic = anything is possible

      • HannoX says:

Yes, what a great friend Saten was for planting that idea! Still, it gave us some great facial expressions from Kuroko. I loved the way Kuroko introduced herself to Touma as Misaka’s life-partner. Surprisingly, Misaka didn’t seem to react to that.

        • Foshizzel says:

I always love when Kuroko is in freak out mode whenever anyone mentions Misaka having a possible boyfriend! Those moments are great and yep Kuroko’s facial expressions are always the best xD

If not for the magic of anime logic, Awaki wouldn’t have gotten her hands on the Tree Diagram remnants and therefore wouldn’t have crossed paths with Accelerator and get knocked for a loop by his falcon punch.

No! Saten-san belongs only to Uiharu! The perpetual skirt flipping is a special bond of theirs! It must be respected at all times! 😛

its rather worth noting that, if mikoto fought touma the way she did in the facility, or heck against accel, she would have crushed him.
so no mikoto, he didnt beat you, your just being too humble.

    • skylion says:

      Tokiwadai thru and thru….

    • belatkuro says:

I would refer you back to season 1. Misaka and Touma fought in there and I would count that as a legit battle, despite the conclusion. Misaka used her iron sands as well as her usual lightning bolts and she still failed to land a hit on Touma.
And Touma has max evasion skills so he would still dodge any big projectile she throws.
Also in the LN, Touma says that Misaka always exhausts herself with firing electricity at him, with one time being for two hours while he remains on the defensive. Touma also has monstrous stamina and endurance. So in a battle of attrition, Touma will still win. Though the issue with the Railgun vs Imagine Breaker is still something that has plagued Raildex discussions.
In the end, I would still say Touma can beat Misaka and her claims that she lost are true.

      • amado says:

well thats if misaka isnt being as careful, cautious, or even as vicious as she is in railgun S.
sure touma may dodge 1 or 2 large projectile, but what if its omnidirectional or a large number to the point there’s nowhere to dodge.
if we’re talking about that fight in railgun S1, touma would have been toast himself if mikoto grabbed the other hand, so he won through luck. and if he really hit her then, I doubt she’d go down like most of the others. I mean as we just saw a few episodes back, she’s taken hits from people willing to kill and are more brutal than touma, who probably doesnt hit like he wants to disfigure the enemy.
though it could be argued that misaka has just gotten better over their last battle with the experience she got from level upper and onward.

but as I said, its if misaka fought touma like she did her in railgun S, if she really used all of her skills and smarts. like how come she has no problems figuring out and playing around the abilities of meltdowner, yet still seems to keep on trying to overpower touma’s ability?

        • Foshizzel says:

Interesting ideas Amado! I just can’t wrap my head around the two of them actually fighting in a hardcore battle, but I suppose for laughs and “what if” it works xD

          • amado says:

its just that I come from a versus forum and we’ve well established how 90% of touma’s wins are through luck + the enemy being an idiot.
because as much as hax his IB is, its only on directly supernatural abilities. and even then, some powers he cant dispel easily. take styl’s fire summon, if he kept that up with no interference touma may have been toast, or used that to keep him busy while throwing a fireball at him.

  4. BlackBriar says:

I love seeing Touma and Misaka being in the same place. It’s fun to see them butts heads together. If we study the timeline, this is the day after Touma lost his memories.

Alas, Misaka should have known her victory was too good to be true. Seeing her clone was a nasty reality check of the worst kind. If she destroys the Tree Diagram, she’d sooner or later have to leave Academy City.

With what was said about the Tree Diagram feeding information to the head of Academy City, it reaffirms that everything is being done under Aleister’s watch. What catches my interest is finding out where he gets his resources.

Kuroko should give up on getting Misaka eventually. Sorry, friend, she just doesn’t swing that way. 😛

    • D-LaN says:

Kuroko really needs to go get one of the Sisters….. At least one of them have to be into yuri right? 😉

True. Aleister is probably the most mysterious person in the Raildex series. LN readers, did we find out more abt him in the new testament series? (I’m at WW3 book 1/2)

      • skylion says:

Alister is a cool character. I’ve become rather hooked to the books.

      • belatkuro says:

        Finish vol22 and you’ll see.
As for NT, no, he’s still laying low and keeping quiet, for reasons you’ll find out when you get there.

    • Foshizzel says:

Yep! It is the day after Touma lost his memories xD

      • sonicsenryaku says:

Actually toma hasnt had his memories since the 19th ep of the first season of railgun; he hasnt had his memory for a couple of weeks (its august 20th as of ep 11).

  5. Gecko says:

This was a fun episode between Kuroko’s expressions and the explanation of how Accelerator got pulled into the experiment. Rather than wasting the episode, they gave us some information and silliness. I was glad to see the other girls show up for once, it’s been too long since we’ve had a cafe scene.

    • Foshizzel says:

Agreed! Finally something fun that gets Kuroko involved even if she was acting crazy towards Touma being with Misaka? She always knows how to crack me up xD

  6. lvlln says:

Oh god, Kuroko was priceless this episode. This is how to do a breather episode, not that boring side character bit before the previous infiltration. I’m going on have to check out that episode of Index to see just how faithful they kept it. Misaka’s interaction with her “sister” is so different knowing what we know now about how she got there.

The Tree Diagram always felt too silly to me. What exactly is the point of having a supercomputer in space where it can’t easily be reached for repairs or upgrades?

I know right? I guess that explains why it took forever for them to repair it after Index blew it up xD
