Freezing Season 2 Announced

freezing-2nd-season-560x383

fall12-jrowShows that bring the boobs are more likely to get sequels than any other kind of series, deserving or not. Freezing gets another series of X amount of episodes, and if the Alaska arc is animated, then the Freezing anime will finally get into some of the nitty gritty that got me into the manwha’s story in the first place. At this rate, Senran Kagura 2 should be a no-brainer.

Boob Ninjas: I’m not disliking the ending of the show. I actually like the “We shouldn’t fight them because they’ll die!” stuff (I’ll be honest, I’ve watched ep 12, so don’t know if I’m giving stuff away from that, I’ll try not to).

The splitting up into different fights was entirely predictable, and once again Mirai gets stuck with Yagyuu, where she’s gonna get stomped. The backstories were tolerable. The show’s not gonna win any awards, but it’s not the worst.

    • Foshizzel says:

Yeah I was kind of pleased with how episode 12 went down, but episode 11 had some nice themes of friendship throw in!

Hahaha yeah sad but true the end fights are very predictable and every hero ninja has their own rival, but honestly I wouldn’t mind another season of Senran Kagura <3

Sakurasou: What a great episode. There’s an argument that allowing Misaki to hijack the senior address is bad form, but let’s face it: this isn’t an ordinary high school, and it’s likely that Misaki is one of the most famous (and popular) people among the student body. So noone would really complain about having her give the address. And even though it was about her own life at Sakurasou, it was enough about general high school life to make it relevant to everyone. If anything, it was that kind of high school life speech that would make everyone else jealous, thinking “I wish my high school life had been like that.” I know I certainly was.

The reaction of the school officials was extremely telling. Misaki didn’t even say anything about WHY Sakurasou was being demolished (I think it’s unlikely that anyone else told her, or she’s got a lot more tact than I gave her credit for), and yet they were tremulous with fear at what she was saying. It really shows how craven and cowardly the reasoning was in the first place.

And even with all the emotions, there was room for laughs, at them getting yelled at for making too much noise outside.

If this had been the finale, it would have been a wholly satisfactory one, and cemented the show as one of the best ensemble comedy-romance-dramas I’ve seen. What will happen in the next episode? (ok, I’m lying, I’ve already seen it, but not going to spoil it, you should go watch it!)

    • Karakuri says:

“I wish my high school life had been like that.”

      ….Yep. Me too.

Anyways, yeah. Misaki didn’t say anything even remotely malicious about how or why Sakurasou was closing down so it’s really obvious who was in the wrong there. Sure, the speech combined with the flower pins and such seemed a little manipulative, but it was pulled off well enough for me not to care.

Ah, I’ve already watched it (we should probably figure out a better time for MetaFap to come out. …Though it’s a little late for that now). I was slightly less enamoured with the second half of the show due to Sorata’s moping, but that last episode really made me remember just what I love about it overall.

There are times that I would think MetaFap wouldn’t hold up in a long term run because there wouldn’t always have ecchi shows around and at the end of the day, I end up eating my own words. So Freezing is getting another season. I’m still halfway through the first and since there’s hardly any memory of the show, it leaves me no choice but to marathon it from beginning.

With so many ecchi shows hanging around, I can’t say that it would be surprising that the Meta Team reaches MetaFap number 100. There’s Hyakka Ryouran : Samurai Bride in Spring (Still haven’t started the first season. Procrastination will be the death of me), the announced second season of High School DxD this year and I even found out To LOVE-Ru Darkness has been green lit for another season.

    • Highway says:

You should watch Hyakka Ryouran before Freezing. In fact, I don’t know if I’ll watch a second season of Freezing all the way through. If it’s like the first season, it’s probably a bit more cruel school and brutal than I care for. I mean, how many senpais took a run at Bridget just to ‘put her in her place’ in the first season? 8? 9? At some point, just accept she’s better than most of you. What a school of bitches.

      • Jrow says:

Season 2, assuming it continues following along with the manga, will not be all the same as Season 1. I’m not gonna bore with details so as to not spoil or tip, but that in-school fighting junk amongst the Pandoras is dialed back significantly in favor of bigger issues with Pandoras on the political and moral side of things.

        • Karakuri says:

Oh good. Having absolutely everyone after whoever (you know, the one Mamiko Noto voiced) due to envy or whatever was getting on my nerves. ….Obviously it’s been a while since I watched it, but those are the parts I remember standing out.

        • Highway says:

Yeah, I agree with Karakuri. The Senpai-Kouhai dynamic was really offputting in that show. I’m not in favor of hazing and bullying, and that show dialed it up to 11.

    • Jrow says:

You should finish Samurai Girls, it’s a nice looking and fun show. You might enjoy the sorta high-school comedy stuff that takes up the middle portion of the series… middle meaning eps. 3-9, roughly.

Really looking forward to DxD 2nd Season!

Apparently, the To Love-Ru Darkness announcement is just for an OVA.

      • Highway says:

Jrow’s all harshing my happiness for Trouble:Darkness. That’s a show that should get a second season.

      • Foshizzel says:

Yep Jrow is correct! That “season two” of Darkness is just an OVA…damn…I was not happy with that, but I guess it SHOULD be uncensored ahahah

        • Highway says:

The BD’s of TLR Darkness I’ve seen have had pretty neat censoring, fits in pretty well with the show, unlike half-screens of shadow-kun like we had for the broadcast.

          • Foshizzel says:

hahah yeah! I don’t mind the fact that we are only getting an OVA thanks to lack of censorship in those, but it sucks that we will only get a few of them, I assume we will get more than one OVA? I know the manga is only a few chapters ahead of the current anime timeline.

  4. skylion says:

Boob Ninjas: My official late drop. No interest outside of Mirai, and that wasn’t enough to sustain anything.

VividRed: Wow. Didn’t see that one swallow smorgasboard coming…

Sakurasou: Hands down, the best show of the season, if not the year. I will miss these guys something hard.

Demon King: Things are hotting up. I am officially in love with Mage; that calculation and teleportation magic was the juice. Plus, insane Demon King fights Hero. DRAMA around the corner.

    • Foshizzel says:

Boob ninjas: Yeah outside of Mirai it really is tough to find another interesting character to cheer for, but I found Homura and Asuka to be quite fun with 11 and 12…

VividRED: SAME HERE! I was like WHAT THE HELL!?

Demon King: I feel you on that Mage after she finally appeared I was like BEST CHARACTER! I only wish she was around from the start because honestly that series puts me to sleep >.<

  5. BlackBriar says:

Maoyuu Maou Yuusha – 11: The episode was exciting in both its halves. The merchant is a very shrewed man of buisiness putting his opponents in a tight spot with his tactics and Hiroshi Kamiya as his seiyuu makes him even more fierce. I certainly wouldn’t want to end up in negotiations with him.

Finally Mage gets some screen time and from the looks of it, she’s bipolar with her sudden temper tantrums. What’s weird is the calculations in her spell casting for someone who is supposed to be in medieval times. It almost felt like I was listening to a scientist in Railgun.

Wow, Maou is overtaken by her predecessors. So she’s the one responsible for the Head Maid losing her arm. I wonder if whatever benefit behind it was worth the risk. Her creepy self makes her blood red eyes intimidating and her character very sexy. Either version is fine by me.

What I like about Maoyuu Maou Yuusha other than the great characters is the solid story with little to no plot holes. Not to mention that the story skillfully uses economics and politics as a tactic to end the war, take care of the population on both sides, promote knowledge and peaceful co-existence.

    • Foshizzel says:

True the merchant has that awesome voice with Hiroshi Kamiya adding his sassy voice to that character! I just was bored with all the economic talks…that part just wasn’t that interesting to me xD

DAT MAGE! I wish she was in the story at the start and the split personalities? Wow! Red mage is ANGRY while blue mage is calm~

Evil Maou is awesome as for the headmaid missing an arm I was feeling scared for her! I don’t want her to die T___T

I guess Maou Yuusha appeals to certain people? Personally I was in it for the fantasy elements, but I suppose it isn’t THAT bad…it just puts me to sleep sometimes.

  6. BlackBriar says:

Senran Kagura – 11: I must say, things have certainly got livelier in this series. Hot girls fighting in scantily clad clothing is definitely a win in book. The splitting up and getting into different battle spheres was easy to expect once Ikagura started it. But it’s appropriate given that every one of the girls has their own personal rival. The dark ninja girls that have my attention the most here are Haruka and Hikage. To me, they’re the most broken members of their group. Not that I’m Yomi’s past isn’t as painful.

I can’t believe I’m about to say this but Hibari ceasing to be a useless doormat character. Well, better late than never, I suppose. Now if only she could at least start fighting properly.

    • Foshizzel says:

Hahaha yeah 11/12 have been a huge improvement over the recent episodes and you are right! Hot girls in swimsuits fighting each other is niceeeeee~ I am pleased there wasn’t a lot of sunbeam-chan xD

Agreed I think so too even Asuka did something good…I can’t believe I said that lololol

  7. BlackBriar says:

Vividred Operation – 11: How typical and pathetic the government officials want to get rid of Rei as soon as they find out she’s not entirely human. Akane’s grandfather saw the girls’ invasion of the base coming and he has his lady friend in tow so I guess he’s already arranged a full pardon for them. Seeing that crow eat Rei then transforming afterwards was creepy and disturbing to say the least. It was like watching Cell from DBZ absorbing Androids 17 and 18 all over again.

    • Foshizzel says:

The government doesn’t want Akane to have any friends from another universe I guess? That sounds like a perfect spinoff series… My cute best friend is from another dimension

When the crow ate Rei I was thinking the same thing BB! That is totally a move from Cell in DBZ…

  8. KLACMAN says:

senran – give we storm the castle & learn some rival 5’s past life give saw finale ep hmm only wonder who Funi-service going to cast in dub version?

vivid rangers – yea this face said it all on crow doing on rei http://i.qkme.me/35kmqy.jpg with 1ep left rather do something?

maoyuu – oh yikes evil red queen we’re so doomed yea virgin blue hero time to save the day.

& s2 of Freezing anime oh YES YES YES give saw Funi’s dub on it a DOZEN time yet s2 coming i win it all.

    • Foshizzel says:

Senran- All the girls from Freezing/Queens Blade dubs I think? LOL

Vivid- Ahahahah that Crow was hungry xD

Maou- Yuusha! SAVE THE DEMON KING T__T

Hooooooooooooo! MORE FREEZING! Yeah I saw some of it, but I wasn’t happy with the first season >.<

      • KLACMAN says:

well don’t worry i’m sure in s2 of Freezing got make it more “hmm” as long mam noto & kana hana are back all good.

who knows we might get mam noto’s partner in crime aka ayako-saber in it too?

        • Foshizzel says:

I always forgot Hanazawa was in that! I guess that is one thing to look forward to for voice actor fans? I just hated the pacing and how the main girl was so damn boring to watch T_______T

          I hope so!

          • KLACMAN says:

well give mention that s2 aka Freezing Vibration will have E-Pandora arc?

either way as long same feel like especially i’m on wait for Funi-service dub on it.

yea marchi’s rana was really very different accent yet very unique to hear.

overall just need airdate yea i so watching it.

  9. Overcooled says:

Senran Kagura has been oddly entertaining. It’s the perfect mindless show to watch in between studying and doing homework. I was rolling my eyes at how they all paired up with their rivals to fight them, but ah well, at least we get to see them fight. I already saw episode 12 and I forget what happens in 11, so I’ll hold off from saying any more lest I spoil something.

I’m actually enjoying Senran Kagura more than Vividred right now. The melodramatic friendship stuff is so forced. MORE DOCKING! IT NEEDS MORE DOCKING! I hope everyone else laughed when Rei was eaten by a crow of all things. A crow. What. Where did that even come from…? At least the final battle looks like it could be intense :3c

    • BlackBriar says:

Actually, I was really disturbed when the crow ate Rei. It swallowed her whole in one go and went back to normal size before transforming. I mean, where did she go? It must have quite the disgestive system.

      • skylion says:

This crow is ominous. First, it’s has a nefariousness alliance with Lightbeam-chan; killing us on the fan service side…
Second; it’s not even the boss, so trouble is just brewing. And it talks. This is bad…..
….and you worry about where Rei went?

      • HannoX says:

I imagine she’s in another dimensional pocket and will come out of it just fine. I just can’t see this show actually killing her off.

        • BlackBriar says:

Yeah, this isn’t Gen Urobuchi’s work where it leaves a bittersweet ending so there’s still hope that Rei’s alive and maybe she’s in a comatose state inside the crow’s transformed body. The crow said it was going to take her bow so I guess absorbing her entire body was just extra baggage.

        • Foshizzel says:

Naw friendship will save Rei’s life! If anything I suspect she loses all her memories thus giving her a fresh start to become friends with the other girls? For some reason I see that playing out more than a dead character set up.

    • Foshizzel says:

Senran is strange I was bored in the middle but these recent episodes got me back into the swing of things! I also thought it was funny how each character gained their own rival xD

Hell ya Vividred needs more docking and less drama about becoming friends with people from another universe, but I guess that is the magical girl side coming out? I feel they tried to blend the magical girl fanservice of Nanoha with a PreCure story because that series often has themes of friendship.

THAT CROW what a terrible boss lololol

  10. BlackBriar says:

Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo – 23:

Misaki’s speech about the rooms filling up hit me right in the feels.

I can’t help but agree with you there. It pulled on a lot of strings. “’Cause I feel!”.

The graduation ceremony really highlights the end Sakurasou and Misaki delivered quite a powerful and moving speech despite it being on a personal level. I got emotional myself just listening to it, couldn’t help myself. She did it in a way that was different than her usual hyperactive self. I’m surely will miss this quality anime. It does a good job of pulling you into the story.

Using the speech to motivate the crowd in a unanimous vote to defend Sakurasou was brilliant. I’m sure they considered the possible consequences if it didn’t work out but the reward proved to be worth the risk. Though I had to laugh at Ryuunosuke’s interpretation that made it sound like an evil manipulative plan.

Oh, how I loved how spineless and cowardly the faculty was portrayed in front of the whole student body but it would have been a better punishment for them if the news spread to the media. They’d be branded for life for being underhanded and their frustration during Misaki’s speech only adds to their detriment.

It really felt like the end here which leaves to question about what the last episode will be about. My guess is that it will be centered mostly on Sorata and Mashiro as the preview indicated.

    • skylion says:

The last episode is denoumount in the strictest sense. But, this being the total awesome that is Sakurasou, they make it something…..that left left me quite breathless, and speechless, and extremely happy to have been a fan for the past six months. I already miss Rika Takanashi something fierce, and pine for her return. Is it too much to ask to give Sakarasou more episodes? ::sniff:: Is it?

    • Karakuri says:

      FEEEEEEEEEEL~!

I found the speech really personal too (like, so personal it probably wouldn’t have worked coming from someone less open than Misaki). But it tugged on the right emotions, so there you go.

But yeah, overall, it worked really well. The entire thing about Sakurasou shutting down was suspicious and seemed rushed, so I’m glad this worked out really well for the members of Sakurasou. Especially after all of that previous angst.

The ending episode? …I’m afraid you’ll have to wait a week before discussion. …I’m trying to restrain myself from talking about it since it’s going to be on the next MetaFap.

  11. Ansatsu-shi says:

    … I see what you did there~
    AssAssSins… lol~

  12. Highway says:

Vividred: This is gonna sound REALLY dumb talking about a show about Tech-Mahou-Shoujos-in-hotpants, but I was actually surprised at the ethical bankruptcy of Crow-san, in that they had taken the task given to them by the Alone, and interpreted it to mean that there is no winning condition possible. It’s possible that’s what they meant, but it seems like a lot of hubris if it’s an assumption.

I did think that Team Vivid attacking the ‘good guys’ was pretty dumb, why not just, like, walk in and argue your way in? Nope, gotta go blasting in.
