I wonder what will happen this week!? Because the previous episode basically followed the random adventures of Maria and Kobato as they ate dinner and played video games together, but we were left with that random phone call from Kodaka’s father at the end? I guess we will find out what they are talking about today. |

I haven’t really done a lot this week, but for some reason, I’m really tired. I’ve also started Jojo too though, so maybe I’m tired from awesome overdose. Whatever the case, I think my tiredness is the cause of my impatience with the week’s episode of Haganai. |
Amusing club adventures
Haganai Precure? Fun fact two of these characters were magical girls.
Best friends ride trains together~
While the previous episode seemed to focus on nothing but Maria and Kobato, this episode brings all of our beloved characters on a club field trip and surprisingly no one went home early this time. So where did the club go? Where else but the awesome amusement park, but Sena had plans to only take Kobato originally. I just laughed at that whole scene because I bet everyone was thinking “Oh right like that will ever work out Sena…” During the roller-coaster scene I swear I just could not stop laughing at all the characters freaking out! Even though most of my laughter was caused by Rika who started randomly swearing on the ride? Oh my god that girl is absolutely amazing every week. While it was great to see that part of the episode I was shocked at the reveal around Yukimura, but to be honest I already spoiled myself back when season one was still airing because I already knew that our cross dressing maid was actually a girl the entire time. Even though I knew about it, I still found the reveal and reaction of Kodaka to be so damn funny! Also thanks to Maria and Rika for teaching us the differences between guys and girls…what would we do without our super-perverted-scientist and not-so-bright-loli-nun?

Nothing to see here… Just a couple of bros…er…I mean…wut?
After that I think Kodaka has to get married to Yukimura.
…I can’t believe that Yukimura seriously thought she was a guy. Don’t they have physicals in Japan? I can imagine her ignoring a classmate or something, but shouldn’t a professional have let her in on her gender? I… just don’t know anymore. Even if I hadn’t spoiled myself on that detail a couple weeks ago, I saw it coming miles away. …She didn’t seem that shocked about it ether, so maybe it was just really, really, deep denial (did she just think that she had an extra hole down there, or…?). I guess the situation is unique in the fact that she wasn’t just trying to be a guy, but she seriously thought she was a different gender, but really. I’m curious as to what kind of family situation brought that on. They don’t have the explain it of course, since it’s pretty funny if they just leave it as ‘family situations’, but those must be some pretty unusual circumstances, even for anime.

End thoughts
So yeah, I don’t know why, but I just wasn’t into this episode as much as the previous ones. Rika and the Black Dragon was pretty funny, but a lot of the episode was Kodaka feeling awkward about Sena and Yukimura and then Sena and Yozora driving themselves into a corner. Both of the two girls seem to have regressed a bit this episode with Sena pushing Kobato’s tolerance (though it was nice of her to volunteer for Kobato’s sake) and Yozora’s overly competitive nature getting in her way. I don’t even know what she was trying to accomplish with challenging Sena to the Black Dragon, but I’m not surprised that it failed. There weren’t many crazy antics this episode to distract me from the fact that pretty much nothing was accomplished this episode. Hopefully I like next week’s better.
Sena wants a Yukimura of her own! I think we should start shipping Yukimura and Sena together, but I like my original shipping of Rika and Yukimura or do you think yuri is out of the picture? I mean now that we know the true gender of the maid I guess Kodaka is the proud owner of a great harem! I liked his quote on the train “When they are sleeping they look like normal cute girls.” That was d’aww even though I know he doesn’t see them as girlfriends because he doesn’t have any friends? WAIT WHAT? DUDE! SERIOUSLY?! Just kidding I know that is the whole plotline to this series. This week also revealed some things with the possible shipping of Sena and Kodaka I mean sure she didn’t come out and say anything about liking him, but it did put the idea into her head about maybe asking him out later on? I still have my hopes for that to happen! Who knows maybe she goes on one date and realizes maybe he isn’t meant for her after all? Still all signs point to Yozora and Kodaka becoming friends and of course eventually boyfriend and girlfriend. Part of me is just like HURRY AND GET TO IT, but the other half wants to see the buildup towards that epic first kiss or will it even happen? All I can say is I wouldn’t hold my breath just yet.

Wow, they just blazed through half of volume 5(7 chapters to be exact out of 11) in this episode. Though they did cut some corners with Kobato putting down Sena and those stage actors with her knowledge of the show, and more.
The roller coaster part was hilarious, though it was kinda noisy so it drowned out some of their screams. Rika was the MVP there, though no UNIVERRRRRRRRRSSSEE!! from her…
The reveal is a big one but I know most people already expected it given the hints dropped. Plus there’s no way someone that cute is a guy. What Rika said to hi- I mean her wasn’t said in the novels. Just that Rika pulled out a cellphone there and said that she might need some shocking footage…
And unfortunately, we aren’t told anymore of Yukimura’s circumstances and was just left to that one statement of hers. Best to get that out of the way.
That last part with Yozora kind of came out the wrong way though. Her statement was suppose to be a whisper and only implied bitterness, while here it makes it seem like she’s explicitly disappointed. The novels are good at being subtle and implying stuff but here they aren’t being subtle at all, and it kind of comes out wrong in the end, just like that part last season with Yozora leaving the pool and going home.
Oh well, this was the case for the first season and it hasn’t changed at all.
Great episode still even with my ranting.

Ahhh the pain of novel/manga adaptations! I guess some things eventually get cut in favor of the hilarious moments? I could not stop laughing during the roller coaster scene…wow…I must have watched that scene over and over again! I can’t get enough of Rika <3
Yeah they kept hinting at it like in the first episode? When Rika and Yozora were fixing up Sena's hair? It was obvious that she/he was interested in girly stuff, but of course I could be looking into it to hard xD

You can’t help but inquire things. Sena only wanted Kobato along when the ticket to the amusement park covers at least 6 people. What was she planning to do with her? And by the expressions she makes around her, she isn’t thinking anything that would be considered normal. The girl reeked of ulterior motives. But now she wants a Yukimura of her own. Just do us all a favor and admit you’re into yuri. You’d have Nisemonogatari’s Kanbaru for company.
Shipping possibilities: Sena x Kobato, Sena x Yukimura, Sena x Yozora, Rika x Yukimura, etc. Surely someone has noticed these are all yuri pairings. 😉
Yozora and Sena’s insane competition will be the death of them. Eight times on a roller coaster must be the sign of a deranged mind. They looked like blue faced zombies and it wouldn’t be surprising if the rides shaved some years off of their life expectancy.
I always had a feeling Yukimura was a girl. She wasn’t much of a trap character. Nothing about her was indicating that she was ever a boy (How couldn’t Kodaka see it?) but Rika’s yuri gender inspection technique was hilarious. Just check below the belt, what could be simpler? She might as well have stripped her naked in front of everyone. What I want to know is what happened to her to cause this severe gender confusion because she actually believed she’s the opposite of what she really is. But Maria got a specific lesson in anatomy in the most awkwardly direct place: The bath.

I loved the episode, and thought everyone’s reactions on the Black Dragon were great, especially Sena and Yozora’s. Maria was kind of in a weird spot this episode, as kind of a weird 5th wheel (or 7th), but also being the outsider that kind of drove things along: She was going to get left out of the trip, when they got there, she was in a shot by herself and everyone else was together, she was the only one who enjoyed the Black Dragon, she went to the boys bath with Kodaka and Yukimura. Just kind of felt like she was a little bit outside this time.
And speaking of outside / inside, what I thought about how they all view each other has changed. I now think that Kodaka is the only one who doesn’t realize that they’re friends. Yozora obviously thinks they are, I think Kobato and Maria realize they are, I think Rika knows they’re friends but kind of just has a fleeting hope that Kodaka would be more interested in her as a girl. But Kodaka still seems to explicitly deny that they are friends. Is it because none of them are guys he can be buddies with?
And we’ll see what Yozora was so despondent about with her “plans” going wrong.

Oh yeah, Kodaka is the tsukkomi of the group, so if he’s saying that they’re not friends, it’s because he honestly doesn’t think that they are. I can agree on Yozora and Rika (Rika is totally way smarter about these things compared to the rest of them). Same goes with Maria and Kobato.
