2012 Year-Ender: Staff Nominations

Staff12-main

Readers’ Nominations for Staff Categories have been compiled.  Vote up!!!

Apologies for the late post but I’ve been sick and work had been quite hectic (hiring is no easy feat, I tell you! ><). Anyways, as I’ll be scheduling the next posts within one-two days’ time, the award category would be quite busy and frequent for everyone to vote on. After music (still open for voting), the turn is of Staff Awards containing, Male/Female seiyuu, director and studio nominations.

Your epic nominations for studios were taken and compiled! Do note that we have excluded all anime that are still continuing this year. Let’s begin the voting!

Nomination Quotes:

lvlln – Miyuki Sawashiro made this category really easy. She not only featured in a ridiculous number of shows this year, including some less advertised roles such as in Sengoku Collection, Hidamari Sketch x Honeycomb, or Medaka Box, but she excelled in them. Her starring roles in works like Lupin III and Kokoro Connect were stellar, while her supporting roles such as inHumanity Has Declined or Nisemonogatari were no less impressive. She even got in on the movie action, reprising her role as one of the Strike Witches in the movie, and getting a part in Studio Khara’s much anticipated Evangelion 3.0. She provided one of my favorite moments of the year in Medaka Box, when her character Naze burst out crying upon seeing her friend getting killed. A talented workhorse, that woman.

Nomination Quotes:

Kyokai Fate/Zero has been the hotbed of amazing voice work last year. As I’m commenting on the male segment, I have to highlight Rikiya Koyama’s tortured soul rendering of Kiritsugu, Nakata Jouji’s broody Kirei, Akio Ohtsuka’s amazing broskanderness, Namikawa Daisuke’s brilliant variation in Waver and Tomokazu Seki’s high-handed Gilgamesh. Every episode I felt like swooning to their voices, they were that good. I should also mention my favourite Yoshimasa Hosoya, who did an amazing job in Sakamichi Apollon as Sen. I can write an essay on this alone so let me stop here.

Nomination Quotes:

Steelman – Akiyuki Shinbo managed to contain his worst tendencies (see: walls of text), and compounded with a much higher budget compared to Bakemonogatari, it really brought his vision to life. By far the best TV show of the year in terms of direction and art.
Kyokai This category is important in terms of the full outlook of an anime and all of the above directors have literally gone over the known convention and recent tradition to present us with something out of the box. Even if it’s not true in all instances, still high entertainment and something unique caused us to stop and notice. Lots of power to them.

Nomination Quotes:

Steelman – After showing their mettle on the Kara no Kyoukai movie series Ufotable finally managed to land a TV hit – and what a heavy hitter it was. Especially remarkable since previous adaptations of Nasu’s work have ranged from horrible (Tsukihime) to mediocre (Fate/Stay Night).
lvlln – Actas deserves mention for Girls und Panzer alone, while Shaft should too for producing 15 episodes-worth of -monogatari goodness and another full, beautiful season of Hidamari Sketch. Xebec deserves recognition for 2 great comedies in Haiyore! Nyaruko-san and Upotte!!

KanaHana has definitely become the next legend already but Sawashiro miyuki is giving her a good run for her money. I miss Noto Mamiko voicing main roles; been ages since I heard her as a main heroine.

I think Kana Asumi will gain roles this year and same for Kayano, Tomatsu and Mistao Fukuen.

The male seiyuu poll was the HARDEST EVER. What do you do when you like ALL of them?!

    • Moni Chan says:

Ahhhh yes I know how you feel Kyokai-San, to choose 7 out of 20 is a hard pick. If I don’t one over the other I feel like the other male seiyuu’s will attack me for not picking them

  5. […] just within the team. Don’t forget to check out the previous ones that are already out: Music, Staff, Characters and Specifics. All polls would be open for next 10 days so vote well. Final results […]
