Exclusive Interviews with Danny Choo & Redjuice

DR-Exclusive

As promised, the final segment from Comic Fiesta: Special Interviews.

Update, the videos have now been upgraded to 720p quality.

TK2This should have been the second post on our total combo of four (Resident Evil: Damnation Panel, Redjuice Panel and full Comic Fiesta coverage), posts but video editing took its sweet time. Still, it’s here at last. Finally, I present to you a special interview session with two renowned personalities of fandom: Danny Choo and Redjuice. As only media personnel were allowed in to conduct interviews with them, the media passes worked wonders. It was my first time conducting any sort of VIP interview, not to mention on video, I apologize for any mistakes made during the session. Thanks to Kyokai for spicing up the videos for further clarity. Without any further ado, here are the interviews. Enjoy!

Meet Danny Choo

DC3

A familiar face in anime cons, a notable figure and household name for fans of Japanese pop culture. This year Danny finally made an appearance in Comic Fiesta and left quite an impression on the local crowd. You can read more about Danny Choo here.

Highlights of the interview:

  • His views on current anime trends from ecchi to though-provoking ones
  • Kickstarter/Crowd-funded anime
  • Mirai Millennium
  • He’ll be in Thailand for the Thailand Game Show around 11 January, 2013
  • Best way to get in touch with him

Meet Redjuice

RJ1

You have already had more than a peek at his workstation and the way he works. The interview with the illustrator behind some of Supercell art, Guilty Crown, Beatless and conceptual designer for the upcoming Vividred Operation, was very insightful. All aspiring illustrators/artists out there, do take notes! You can read more about him here (for those who can’t read Japanese, turn on your translator in chrome).

Highlights of the interview:

  • His current profession is his favourite hobby but he also likes to cycle and used to surf when he lived near the beach
  • Music is a huge inspiration for his illustrations
  • On Beatless and related merchandise
  • This is taken from someone else’s question; his penname “redjuice” comes from his email address because “applejuice” was not available.

Overall, this was quite an enlightening experience for me. I was very nervous as I’ve never done any interviews before but I guess it turned out okay. Hope you enjoyed it and learned a few precious tips from Danny and Redjuice-sensei. A big thank you to the CF Staff, the VIPs for making time from their busy schedules to visit us, my good pal Antarnis for the pictures and videos and lastly Big Boss Kyokai for showcasing our coverage. Hope you folks enjoyed Toori-chan and mine coverage of Comic Fiesta, 2012. Adios!

First time interviewing? I can sympathize with you that first times on anything can be nerve wracking. However, experience is the great teacher and I think you did good.

These are some awesome guys you sat down and talked to. It was a little hard to understand Danny Choo’s interview with the audio but I got most of it. I wonder what Redjuice’s next project will be. That cover “Squad” that he was holding in his hands looks nice. Please let it be animated.

Thanks! It was an exciting experience.

Danny Choo’s interview was done in a large group so with my lack of proper equipment the audio got messed up. That book he was holding is the artbook for Beatless, I wonder if the novel is getting an adaption.

Thank you for reading! It’s all thanks to Kyokai and Toori for giving me this opportunity, I didn’t even know there is a closed door interview going on until Toori gave me a heads-up. XD

Thank you so much for conducting these interviews! What an opportunity for you to meet two big names in the anime industry face-to-face. I would have been so nervous talking to them. Great job, TK~

Thanks! It was a great learning experience, if only I could come up with even better questions, I feel there’s still a lot to learn from redjuice.

This is so amazing! It’s awesome how you guys managed to get some interviews with Danny Choo and Redjuice! Awesome! Next target is Sugita Tomokazu

    • T.K. says:

Oh man, I’ll probably go into fanboy stalker mode if Tomokazu Sugita even set foot in these regions, take as many pictures and autographs as humanely possible. XD
