Another week of crazy fun and just like Sakuraso this episode had lots of random swimsuit service for us to enjoy. Also more Arisa getting into the swing of things, but that poor girl has a lot of things to deal like creepy pedo Anna? Yeah that girl is always going crazy around Arisa! Anyway I liked that short “bikini contest” the girls held with Akito as the judge, I mean surely nothing bad can happen with that right? Of course it went bad! Because it just gave the girls an extra chance to mess with him. So who would you pick as your official winner of the swimsuit contest? For my picks I would go with Akiko, Gin and maybe Anna? However Arashi might be disqualified because she wasn’t even wearing a swimsuit! Damn Akito has his hands full around that girl…

No Sakurasou, No Life. Last week’s episode was… fun. It’ll be remembered as that weird episode with the annoying sister character to me. Sakurasou has shown it can be better than that, and as for this episode, it’s a return to form finding a balance between story and comedy/fanservice which can teeter-totter up to about a 60-40 ratio it seems dependent on what episode we’re discussing. When I first saw the preview of Misaki jumping in a pool I went, “great, swimsuits!” and as seen below, no doubt the lovelies of Sakurasou are just that. However, we must take away Sorata’s ability to pick himself back up (with help from Misaki & Jin) after his first attempt at his dreams failed; from the very first question, he panicked and couldn’t straighten out the tailspin his presentation was going on. How he was able to push away Mashiro without being too mean was great; adding his inner dialogue really added to the scene, and that he was able to loosen up and jump in the pool was the clincher on him wanting to continue pushing forward. Sorata is proving himself as a great male lead character this season with episodes like this.
Side Note: Anime bikinis are like NFL helmets. They don’t stay on and aren’t strapped on as well. And uh… yeah… I wasn’t noticing the frequent underboob and the VERY slight jiggle going on.

Sakarasou: This was another good effort by the staff of this show. We knew that Sorata would fail in is efforts, it was inevitable. I enjoyed how quickly he rebounded, realized that there were people that loved him and supported him and were able to help him and Nanami adjust to a rather difficult life of the creative person. I enjoyed tagging along with this circle of friends.

OniiAi – 08: This swimsuit episode was one big WTF and the girls, with the exception of Ginbei and Arisa, are closet perverts. Akiko should have known Arashi would wear something kinky.
Ana’s constant focus on Arisa is creepy, stalker worthy. I was thinking Yuno Gasai when she was shown in that dark pink aura. She’s found something new to play with since Akito is so dull. Not just pedophilia, she also shows signs of bisexuality like Arashi since they were basically sharing the same fantasy of being with Ginbei in the changing room.

Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo – 08: Another good week of Sakurasou. Sorata may have hit a bump in the road but it’s better to try and fail than never try at all. After all, he can use the opportunity to learn from his mistakes and improve on them and he has his friends to console him in their own wacky way. Sorata is a good lead trying to put Mashiro down easily despite being in a state of frustration.

Sakurasou: A lovely episode. The failure of Sorata to be a prodigy and succeed with his first idea fit in well, even if you’re thinking “It’s anime, the good guy always wins!” And the emotions shown by Sorata, jealous of Mashiro, ashamed at himself for screwing up, not knowing what he wants to do, all so good.
And the best part of Sakurasou: The surge by Nanami. She’s actually making the show a question, at least at this point, and I’m actually on the Nanami ship right now. She’s starting to get over her tsundere a little bit, and starting to be more open with Sorata. And I like that her tsundere is a little different. So often, the tsundere is liking the other person, but also not liking them, and not wanting to admit they like them for reasons like they used to hate them. But Nanami’s tsundere conflict is between her desires for Sorata and her cultural conditioning of what a woman is supposed to act like. Just give up on that stuff, Nanami, and follow Torajirou’s advice!

Also on Sakurasou, I thought that the part about Mashiro’s letter to Sorata were a little glossed over. I don’t know what the translations you guys had said, but “What is love?” to me is a good translation, but doesn’t really capture the same idea of “koi wo oshiete”. To me, that’s more of “teach me about romantic love/desire/longing”. Thinking about it that way, Mashiro’s requests that he make her feel ‘doki doki’ and ‘gyuu’ move into more than just ‘what is love’. It’s more of an indirect request that he make her fall in love with him. And she’s already doing that, it seems, but she also sees Nanami doing the same thing.
