lvlln // A show with poor storytelling like Campione! really needs to go over the top if it is to find success. If it holds back at anything, it leaves too much room for the story to take the spotlight, which ruins everything. So I was quite pleased to see it not holding back with this episode. It was a pretty dumb aside episode, but the show was so committed to its gags that I ended up having a lot of fun. OK, it’s disappointing to see Liliana’s character continue to devolve into a generic tsundere, especially when she’s voiced by someone as talented as Eri Kitamura, but her involuntary fantasizing while working with Godou was very funny, aided by the freely shifting art styles. And Karen is just as bland as every other female in this show, but at least she acts as catalyst, pushing Liliana into a gambit right out of an eroge, like so many other aspects of this show.
I rag on the story every single week, and that’s because it continues to suck every single week. The desecration of old religions just doesn’t stop, with Athena still in the Japanese high school uniform + zettai ryouiki and returning with a scythe, and the etymological connection between Perseus and Persian pushed into… something more meaningful? I don’t think it’s bad to use ancient myths as base for the lore, but do something fun and coherent with it instead of just moe-ifying it and playing little word games. This episode was great because it was mostly not the lore. Unfortunately, as the Perseus arc continues next episode, I expect that we’ll see more butchered myths. Hopefully the girls finally get off the island and manage to distract us away from the awful story with more flashy fighting. Or just some mindless fanservice would be fine, too.

Jrow // Production delays make this a Tuesday show instead of a Friday situation, making it the first of these MetaFap series to premiere. Aside from that, episode 8 felt like it was an episode 10 or 11 with how the episode progressed through the battle. The falling of Mina, the quick betrayer/savior role Ilia played in the episode and Ryosuke pulling out Graham ready to fight all had the makings of an episode that honestly made me wish this series… was done with sooner. As I reflect back on thoughts about the anime being different from the manga’s storyline, I still feel the same way in regards to that. It’s just disappointing that the anime, even on an ecchi level, has become a bore to watch. This isn’t and R-15 type letdown, but it’s in the same park.
When Lisara was naked for the 8th time or so in this series, as she was running away topless at the end, I had the thought, “put them away.” She’s really boring to look at now, would you agree with me? I don’t feel the need to add a picture here because you could go back to past MetaFaps and see the same deal.

Fosh // Time for more derp filled adventures with Akatsuki, but if you have been skipping this series I totally do not blame you for doing that so! Last time all the students were starting their tough team based fighting exam when someone from Miu’s world decided to wreck the exam oh and I think he the worst name of all time aka Phi Barnett…yeah I think that is some lawyers name or something? Now for the actual events in the episode because and for me I found this episode to be so lame! I swear it was a chat fest for the entire thing! DO NOT WANT seriously…I just want to see the “important” characters kick the crap out of each other not the redhead side dude who suddenly wanted to help? What was that even about? I assume it was some “justice” garbage, but nooooooooooo they had to go on and on about how powerful Akatsuki was I GET IT YOU ARE AN AWESOME LEAD ROLE at least there was some decent Miu fanservice this week even though it was ten seconds away from turning into a horrible rape scene…at least next week it is about the fighting.

Karakuri // Once again, the search imouto ends with a new addition to the harem and yet another fake sister. AHAHAHAHA WHAT A PLOT TWIST. Who would have ever guessed? I am certain no one saw this coming. Though at least after this one episode arc, Rinka seems waaaaaaay less tsun and more dere. I can live with that. On the other hand though, the reasons for the imoutos seem to becoming more and more needlessly complicated. I give up. There is no plot, only fanservice. …You guys probably care about this than me, but Konor must be wearing something pretty elaborate down there if they insist on censoring it with shadow-chan. I leave you with that thought.

Boku H: I don’t really agree, I actually like the way the story is going. I don’t have any other media to compare it to, but the progress seems about right overall for the length of the series. I’ll grant that it’s not anything amazingly clever or new (nor are the other shows in this roundup), but I find it entertaining enough.
I didn’t care for the excessive whipping scene, tho. Could have done without that, almost entirely. It didn’t rise to the level of Binbougami’s attempted gang rape a week ago, but it was still symbolism we didn’t need.
But storywise, I don’t have a problem with the show. It is what it is. And I thought the part with Quele was done pretty well.

Campione: Yeah, I thought the sillier it got the more enjoyable it got. Maybe this is a portent of things to come. Even the interaction with Athena in her oh-so-cute Nekomimi hat was pretty silly. And criminy, Godou is dumber than a box of rocks. I still want to switch him with Shougo and let Shougo have some action with girls he knows aren’t his imouto.

Imouto: This show’s not going anywhere, it’s not going to go anywhere, and it’s getting a bit tired. When it actually does gags, they’re fun, like Miyagi’s “nuh uh, my skirt’s regulation, why don’t you check it!” but then to be wearing shorts under it? Why’d she bother? At least Konoe’s in the game. I don’t see this show making any resolution by the end of the series, he’ll just end up with a 6-girl harem, and no clue which is his sister. If I were him, I’d just give up, pick Konoe, and then live with the consequences.

Hagure Yuusha no Estetica — 09: I was raging most of the time because I really hated that bastard “hero” Phil Barnet. Personally, he reminds me too much of Accel World’s Nomi. It’s like they have the same despicable and degenerate aura. They both tried to pull an almost rape situation on the girls who are closest to the lead. It probably goes without saying that everyone wants Akatsuki to royally kick his arrogant ass but it’s already plain to see he’s going to have some difficulty.

Yeah, Phil is really a dick. I don’t think he’s *quite* as vile as Noumi, but both are way over a threshold I don’t care for. He also sure doesn’t seem very ‘paladin-esque’ does he?
I actually think it would be awesome of the show to set Phil Burnett up as a match for Akatsuki, and then have that totally turn out to not be the case, as Akatsuki completely mops the floor with him without breaking a sweat. And Phil’s threat that they’ll keep sending heroes out after Miu doesn’t ring true at all. Wouldn’t you send the best guy out first? If he gets beaten by something, who else are you gonna send?

Dakara Boku wa, H ga Dekinai — 08: Actually, the story is still interesting, to say the least. Not great but not horrible either. The progression of this episode really felt like it was already at the end. Sometimes with shows like this, I won’t be satisfied unless I see everything that is there to be shown.
The whipping on Lisara was unnecessary. We’ve seen that quite a bit but Ilia, on the other hand should be getting that in her place for her betrayal. She doesn’t deserve to get off the hook easily so that tentacle rape should be her punishment.

Hmm, I agree that the story is still interesting, but I think this is a good middle arc for the show. I’m actually hoping it wraps up by episode 10, leaving a few shows for more of a Ryousuke – Lisara getting together arc.
That was one of my biggest disappointments with HighSchool DxD, actually. (Spoilered for people who haven’t seen it yet)

Campione! — 09: It does perform strongly when sillyness is implied with the plot and it’s at its best when Liliana is fantisizing. I had to laugh when she found Godou reading her novel. Her facial expression was priceless. I’m gonna go on a guess and say that Athena is into girls after stripping and almost violating Liliana with a really depraved rape face while also being a big time “S” for tormenting Godou.

Who Is Imouto? — 08: This is becoming a let down but I might continue to watch to finish the run since I’m already this far in. I rank this anime as dead last out of the four. So far into the series and you can’t actually say there is any progress being made finding the sister neither has any of the characters have made a significant development in character. Shougo’s role as the lead is pretty much like a cardboard cut out.
