Meta Mash – 42

We are back with a crazy variety of funnies and action with Polar Bears, Sket Dance, Accel World and Joshiraku.

Polar Bears – 25

Lama-“Duddeeeee I seriously have the munchies….”

Just when you thought the animals in Shirokuma Cafe couldn’t do anymore human activities, here comes a section of an episode dedicated to Penguin’s hobby: painting. ‘He paints?!’ you may ask, but yes, it is true! Artist Penguin isn’t appreciated in his own time however since a majority of visitors, or rather Panda and the Penkos, couldn’t recognize any of his artistic abilities or paintings in general. Even though I felt bad for Penguin, I found the joke of his paintings looking almost exactly like other famous works pretty funny (even though I only recognized one). Panda asking off-topic questions was giggle-worthy as well. Second half, however, wins the crown this week as we were shown more of Grizzly’s and Polar Bear’s childhood. I don’t think I’ve squealed this hard for a Shirokuma Cafe episode before. Grizzly and Polar Bear as cubs are the CUTEST THINGS EVER. I mean, they’re so small and wearing cute, tiny leather jacket, scarf, and bag! A-Anyway, it was nice to see the show touch more on Polar Bear and Grizzly’s friendship by showing us how they became friends. Their friendship is just so…BEAUTIFUL. Okay, a little exaggeration, but their friendship certainly is lovely. Despite Grizzly and Polar Bear being opposites, they’ve stayed good friends and help each other out when needed. It’s the model friendship.~

Joshiraku – 08

Joshiraku turned into a shounen fighting anime!

Bless you gg and your subs. orz So after very long wait we westerners can finally enjoy Joshiraku again, and it sure was worth it! The first segment was downright hilarious in a very subtle way, keeping in mind that subtle in Joshiraku-terms is … well, still not all that subtle. But I regress, for once I felt the dialogue took precedence over the imagery. I suspect that gg westernized the dialogue in many ways, but even so it was a great start. In the second segment Marii broke out her maid outfit, a sure sign that it would not disappoint. I’ve never been a big fan of the second segments, which always involve the girls going outside the comfort of their break room, however this one would rank up as one of my favorites. The Thorn Protector part was especially funny, and pointlessly well animated! People worrying about JC Staff taking over production of Little Busters shouldn’t worry, imo. The final segment started off very strong, I had to pause at one point from laughing too much (“Sure is April right now!”), but as it went on I thought the skit was bit stretched. Anyway, I’m always up for a Kukuru centric segment! Anyway, strong episode with plenty of laughs! Until next time!~

Accel World – 24 [END]

Luckiest fat character of all time!
Accel World finally comes to a close after twenty four long weeks… Some part of me wishes I could have those Saturdays back. Honestly it’s been a long road and seemingly we have gone nowhere. At the end of the series Haru get’s back what he started with, his wings, his friends, and the girl. Sure he loses them here and there throughout the series, but no major revelations dawn on him that make him a better character. He’s still as whiny as he ever was and he failed to lose any weight.
But I must say while the ending did exemplify what was bad with the show, it also showcased the good. The side characters, that were sparsely showcased, appeared and injected much needed personality into the heavy ending. The action sequences were fantastic, rife with sparkly special effects. Also, Chiyu returned to her normal bubbly self! All in all I know that this show will be getting a sequel by the looks of it. Let’s hope that it plays to its strengths this time around.

Sket Dance – 76

Hime-“It’s not like I want to see your awesome set of abs or anything!”

This episode was average. Normally I wouldn’t care about that so much, but I do this time since, as they stated, it’s Sket’s second last episode since it’s being replaced by Gintama next season. More on that next week though. As I said, this episode was kind of weak in terms of impact (especially considering that the show is ending). …Though the cross dressing was hilarious. Hearing Sugita do his female impression is always absolutely fabulous. To be honest though, I don’t really care for Usami, so I could really care less about the non crossdressing part of the episode. I thought they were skipping quite a few chapters, but it makes sense now since I guess they’re trying to have some closure with the student council. Anyways, next episode is the last. I’m pretty sure it will be anime original since the preview just looks like a bunch of people talking. …We’ll see how it goes.

Accel World: A decent ending to a moderately entertaining anime. Seeing that vile wretch Nomi finally getting his just desserts for all what he did was just too sweet to describe with words. It was so satisfying that I found myself being a little sadistic replaying that part a good number of times. Was anyone thinking “FINISH HIM!” during that? All after, you reap what you sow and what goes around, comes around.

As for the story, it’s clear that it’s far from over. I’m sensing another season potentially on it’s way since there’s an OVA scheduled this fall, the main objective for Black Lotus’s legion was to reach level 10 of the game and there’s still the fact Chrome Disaster remains are living inside of Haru’s duel avatar. I honestly don’t mind if it does come along.

Chiyu redeemed herself in my eyes after figuring out she was playing Nomi from the beginning, waiting for an opening to stab him the back. At first, I never pegged her as the type to plan that far ahead and being so devious. If another season does come, I hope she continues to be that useful now that she’s a new member.

I think everyone in the entire world wanted them to finish off Noumi. Nobody was thinking “No, they should offer him friendship.” Not even me, and I’m pretty big on that forgiveness and redemption stuff. He was really a vile character.

I dunno if I’d be interested in another season of this show. I’d definitely prefer a change in how the fights went. And overall, I’d much rather see other shows get second seasons (Oda Nobuna from this season, and probably 15 or 20 other shows from other seasons) than more Accel World.

I’m lenient on Accel World but I also agree with you on wanting other anime seasons like Oda Nobuna no Yabou before this one. I’d want another season of Ao no Exorcist, Ben-To, C³: Cube x Cursed x Curious, Rinne no Lagrange, Toaru Majutsu no Index, Toaru Kagaku no Railgun, Kore wa Zombie Desu Ka, Mayo Chiki, Senki Zesshou Symphogear, Tasogare Otome x Amnesia and AKB0048.
