lvlln // This was an improvement from previous episodes, as the slapstick comedy was actually funny. The baseball bit had me laughing, even if I was rolling my eyes at the same time. Even ignoring that it’s tough enough for a good hitter to hit off an ace pitcher, much less someone like Mariya, there was the issue that since Godou was the catcher, he had to know what pitch was coming, making the “sixth sense” use unnecesary. But guys getting hit in the balls tends to be funny, and it was here.
What an Aroldis Chapman fastball looks like anime-style. Also, why a cup & helmet are necessary always.
I’m still no fan of Erica. At least she’s been consistent since her sudden character transformation in episode 2, but her attitude with regards to Godou and Mariya reminded me of an eroge heroine more than anything. Clearly she’s setting up Godou for a harem end. Mariya was even more boring as just a straight up clumsy/naive girl. And she was proud of it. Also, she’s bad with technology, gets flustered talking about Godou, and is good at cooking. Played by Kana Hanazawa no less. She couldn’t have been more designed-by-committee.
I’m probably repeating myself, but the story continues to be messy. At least this episode had some laughs. And a couple of good bits of fanservice, even if they were fewer than previous episodes. I can’t say that the plot development at the end of the episode excited me at all, but what the hey, Erica’s pleasant to look at, am I right?

Jrow // And now we can officially declare this group a harem. How did this happen? By having Mina (err… the plot) forcefully convincing Quele that she is in love with Ryosuke and reminding her maybe 15 times during the episode. Drinking Game: Take a shot every time Mina says, “because you love Ryosuke!” and a double shot each time Quele blushes. Enjoy your sleep or w/e fun times you embark on.

The episode’s formula for the most part was still the same until Ryosuke made a commitment to evolving his powers. Adding his newfound inspirations to further perverse his power, I like how the series evolved his abilities and brought the cheesiness of all his different inspirations to a level that only Aquarion Evol would rival. Dealing the final blow himself was great, and hopefully with Graham now exposed to those other Evils That Be, they start to expose themselves and we can put a face w/ whoever that guy is talking soon enough.

There were tentacles in this ep. Woot! And on a very negative note, Sunbeam-chan made an appearance this week, that asshole covering some bootay. For those who remember DxD’s first ep., Sunbeam-chan blocked Rias-sempai’s “other other white meat”. Dakara certainly didn’t have problem leaving the part uncensored where full frontal was in clear site as she was flying.

Fosh // Sooooo what the hell was this episode about anyway? One thing is certain it was pretty much lacking in anything story wise. Then again does anyone really watch this anime series for the story? They did show off Motoharu Kaitou again at the start of the episode leaving me to assume he has some important story that will push Akatsuki Ousawa to FIGHT the power later on; however the real core of the episode basically centers around Miu, Kuzuha and Chikage going shopping for new bras and panties…I know that just sounds absolutely thrilling huh? In terms of extreme fanservice yes it really jumps right up there with lots of service shots of Miu! Even Haruka even gets some special attention this week.

While that was fine and all because this is an ecchi themed anime series and I found it strange that the sales assistant yelled at Akatsuki for being in the girls changing rooms, but afterwards she was perfectly fine with him “helping” the girls? She didn’t even mind that he helped Miu who is acting as his “sister” for now. Then again this is anime and those themes are perfectly normal and in the end it seems like the creators are pushing for Miu x Akatsuki hardcore lately, but did anyone else bust out laughing when they showed that quick shot of those Queens Blade characters on their TV? I guess you can confirm the creators of this series as big time Queens Blade fans? Of course they have that OVA coming out eventually.

I’m not going to go with the two groups that have Boku H out so far, so I have to hold off on commenting on that one.
Hagure Yuusha no Sexual Harassment: I admit, I was wrong – Haruka was not “I will be his wife!” this episode. I still think it will happen, tho. And she will never figure out how he gets underwear off just through her own stubbornness.
The thing that keeps striking me the most about this show is just the awful character designs. Kuroneko is literally half of Akatsuki’s height? I think she comes up to his belly button. Soon they’re going to start doing SYD-style arrows “Kuzuha is about here” pointing off the bottom of the screen, otherwise the shots have to be so wide to get her in. At least they draw Miu’s boobs right (not DxD or Sekirei style), but can’t they work on people’s chins a little more?
Campione: Yeah, for me, this show needs less Mariya klutzing it up and more Erica being badass. Even bring in Lilliana and that other chick in the OP. Maybe that guy who kidnapped Mariya will keep her for a few episodes so she doesn’t take up all our time like she did this episode.

Campione! – 05: Erica is such a wily, underhanded fox. She knows exactly how to twist things to work in her favor. Since she’s so clingy, I’m surprised she’s the type to actually let Godou have more than one girl around. I’d normally see the guy get reprimanded for that kind of stuff. Poor Godou. This is why I won’t take up baseball. It’s too high a price. Getting hit in the balls is a fate I wouldn’t wish on anyone. Mariya is the typical “cut off from the rest of the world” type girl but it’s nice she has some pride in herself even though misplaced in certain aspects instead of total insecurity.
Dakara Boku wa, H ga Dekinai — 05: This is the weirdest but pleasant episode yet. Is his training real or just something he makes up as he goes along? Sunbeam-chan, bane to all things ecchi. When will his reign end? There were tentacles here this time. A sign this series is close to hentai territory.
Hagure Yuusha no Estetica — 05: All hail Akatsuki the badass!! He makes perverse situations look awesome and rarely gets any scolding. LOL. “Boob buddies” and none of them actually complained. Man, that’s the power of persuasion. The assistant left him in the clear because he was giving advice on bras. Which is weird because I would think that it would be the girls who know more in that department. They were watching Queen’s Blade: Rebellion at the end. Nice.
With all this extreme NSFW fanservice, it wouldn’t surprise me if they started making Doujins for each series.
By the way, can anyone recommend a video downloading site (preferably mp4 video formats) for Hagure Yuusha no Estetica? The one I usually visit removed it due to DMCA.

Finally saw Boku H. I have to throw in with the slightly disappointed folks. I thought the episode wasn’t too bad when filtered through a lens of ‘character development episode’, but it could have been better. They really fizzled out on the Wondrous Eight (which was dumb from the beginning, even Lisara chides herself about it), and they really need some new monsters to fight, and maybe some new fighting style.
The things that give me a little bit of hope are 1) the warning Lisara gave Ryousuke about damaging his soul, 2) the reappearance of the other half of Gram, and 3) the hinting at an actual bad guy, not someone who’s just not a harem member yet. Although I guess Ilia is not going to be a harem member, based on the OP and ED: She’s in the ‘side character’ part of the OP, and I don’t think she’s in the three full-frontal floating shots at the beginning of the ED (I *think* the third one is Mina, but I’m not sure).
(Also, not that I’m trying to toot my own horn (too much) or steal traffic, but I’m blogging this series and have more thoughts on it at Sushi GoKart.)
