Campione! — 03
Better than learning kung-fu through a computer program Show ▼
lvlln // Campione’s storytelling continues to be a mess. It’s slowed down a lot since the fast-paced opener, spending a lot of time with the exposition, but it’s somehow still incoherent. Once again, things just keep happening with little rhyme or reason. How come Erika is a complete doormat now? Godou is right to be so suspicious. And how come he’s so special anyway? With the campy narrator and the pre-OP introduction, the show is quite transparent about what it’s trying to do, but it’s not really delivering much on that front either.

Don’t get me wrong; those kiss scenes in the 3rd episode were just the right amount of trashy for this show. Communication through kissing was especially fun to watch right after one of my favorite shows last season. But the fanservice has been otherwise sparse, and the girls haven’t really proven interesting. Fanservice shows are more fun when you can really get invested in the characters, but it’s hard to see these girls as anything more than collections of attractive traits, especially after Erika’s transformation.

Solid action could make all the show’s deficits forgettable, but it’s been quite sparse on that, too. Again, there’s been a lot of exposition. What action in the show has continued to be good overall, with the short bit in episode 2 in which Erika goes after Godou with her sword a pleasant highlight. Still, it quickly quickly got very videogame-y, with the 10 different powers or “avatars,” each limited to one use a day. I really wish the show had something good to latch on to, because the art is pretty, but so far the only thing special about it has been how extremely generic it’s been.

Jrow // Finally, proper animation for the OP and ED, and it is quite glorious. Tears of joy run down Ryosuke’s face as there’s not a single sight of sunbeam-chan around to block the beautiful (treasure) chests of Dakara’s female cast. Though I must ask… where are these red threads I’ve heard so much about? With my level of artistic skill, I would just go into MS Paint and use the smallest spray can option to make a nice landing strip.

(btw, sunbeam-chan’s appearance on Crunchy’s stream of the series is laughable. No extreme amounts of steam or light of armor, it’s a triangular-shaped beam that followed Lisara as she emerged from the bathtub. I’m still surprised that Queen’s Blade 1 & 2 are uncensored on that site.)

This episode should close out character introductions and get down to the thick of this other-world group of people that will likely be going after Lisara and co. Buying insurance has never been so sexy as it is in episode 3 with Iria in a swimsuit that can barely contain those 92.5 cm airbags. Rivaling her in bust size is Mina, whose beautifully large pillows were in view as Quele wants gets herself closer to the thick of things.
Being naked is such a freeing and wonderful feeling.

Fosh // So what is going on this week!? It seems like Kuzuha aka the token Hanazawa Kana character had some issues with Akatsuki who just wanted to help her become an adult! That sounds perfect, right? But hey I admit that was kind of hilarious and of course he went for a hug route instead of taking advantage of her… that said I bet most of us wanted to see some more yuri time with Miu and Chikage. I am starting to wonder if that set up is going to be a repeating thing with Chikage involving a weekly yuri moment with various girls every week?!
Oh and I died laughing when Akatsuki picked on that redhead guy…HA! Serves you right jerk, but anyway I did not expect to see that random chicken monster (Cockatrice). Seriously what the hell? I thought it was a duel between students and NOT some pokemon type of duel; however it gave our main character an excuse to summon his oversized plot sword of manliness…oh and I enjoyed seeing Kuzuha actually smile because damn that really was Hhhhnnngg! Before I wrap up enjoy this announcement there is a Queens Blade Rebellion x Hagure Yuusha no Estetica crossover OVA! I have no idea why so enjoy this trailer…

Who Is Imouto? — 03

Karakuri // Yep, I’ve joined on for the MetaFap posts. So for being another ‘dumb’ harem show around the premise of Japan’s obsession with younger sisters, Imouto is actually pretty entertaining. The bland male lead, Shougo is actually passable as a character and for once, this girls in the harem aren’t extremely uptight about the male lead seeing them naked when it totally wasn’t his fault (plus in this case, they were totally asking for it)… or at least everyone minus Rinka seems okay with it. I’m not really watching this for the ecchi, but it’s nice to see something other than the usual ‘guy unknowingly walks in on questionable situation and gets the shit beat out of him because of it’ comedy scenarios. In fact, it’s nice to see straightforward heroines like that. Hell, we even got jokes on BL and virility products this last episode (though they totally over explained the virility one). The comedy may be dumb, but damn is this anime funnier than I ever thought it would be.
Now for the question everyone is asking: Who is imouto? …I didn’t think this show would get to the heart of the problem so quickly. It’s impressive that they cast most of the female seiyuu to sound similar to each other so that the real imouto was well hidden, but is the answer really that simple? Is it really Miyabi? If so, then Shougo could easily just go with any of his other harem members and the problem would be solved. There’s probably more to it than that unless they’re REALLY going to dramatize the whole forbidden love thing. Even though the premise sounds kind of… well, stupid when you try to explain it, Imouto actually handles the drama, romance scenes and comedy pretty well. It’s probably not going to be anime of the year, but it’s enjoyable at least.

Who is Imouto: Haven’t they had a cliffhanger every episode? There’s no way they’re giving the plot up now. They’ll weasel out of this somehow to keep it going. I agree that Shougo is one of the better harem-show leads (although for ‘worst’ I go to Orimura Ichika from IS, and end up comparing everyone to him, so they all look better. Maybe I should start using that dope from Fortune Arterial instead as more of a bad middle ground) and he’s actually believable both as a harem lead and as a young inheritor of a big company. It’s an enjoyable show, and they do pile in the fanservice.

…Yeah, if she really is his imouto, then every other female is okay for dating. That would be taking away a huge part of the plot since Shougo is actually restraining himself because of the imouto problem. The fanservice isn’t interfering with my enjoyment at all either, so that’s a plus in that direction. …I feel a bit alone though since I’m here for the plot instead of the ‘plots’ like every one else here xD

As a life-long and devoted student of history I have to come out in disfavour of learning by this method. However, as a person with a driving need to research, Athena, Erica, I would like to study Greek Myth and Roman Esoterica STAT.
You know, Boku H started off pretty strong, but they started hitting a bad branch on the exposition tree these past two episodes. I found myself rather bored with it. Fourth episode is on get better or dropped notice.
Who is Imouto? I hope it isn’t Miyabi. I would like her to be happy. I just like that character. The rest seem to adhere to much to their character tropes. I know it’s early days yet, but that’s my take.

Hagure Yuusha: This week was tons better than the previous two. I’m still sticking to my prediction that Haruka will be all “I’m his wife!” by episode 5. And it was cute the way he made Kuroneko smile by sexually harassing her… wait, what? Who gets away with that? “Hey, you didn’t do anything worse, so that makes me happy!” The show did move Akatsuki into the ‘good guy’ column with his counter-bullying, his ostensibly good efforts with Kuzuha, and his Big Swinging… Sword cliffhanger. And turning Chikage and Miu into Date Spies was pretty good for a laugh.

Boku H: I dunno what it is. I still really like this show. Episode 3 was a little slower, and it was pretty heavy on the exposition, which was kind of *yawwwwwwn*. And I guess all is forgiven with Quele? Hey Lisara, wasn’t she trying to kill you in the last episode? No hard feelings, I guess? Maybe Reaper-dimension is a little more cutthroat, and that’s just to be expected? It was a little hard for me to believe tho. I think it’s interesting how they roped Mina into being a temporary contract with Quele, and I think there’s some comedy to be had (not too much tho) in the ‘punishment’ angle for Quele: She has to listen to Mina gush about how much she likes Ryousuke.
Hopefully we’ll get to a little more happening next time, since we don’t have new characters to introduce.
And I really like the new ED. I don’t know if it’s giving away the plot, or is just a little side exploration, but the ’embarrassed encounter’ is cute, and the music is catchy and listenable, if a little forgettable. The OP music isn’t as good, but cracks me up with two lines: The namesake line “Don’t tell me the reason you kiss me” and “Freaky Queen”. Really, you don’t need to put “Freaky Queen” in a song ever, it’s just like what the hell?

Since Shougo is worried about accidently marrying his younger sister, the girls in his class should be safe. But if he’s worried she might only be a few weeks younger and in his class, then a girl in the class senior to him would be safe. Which would mean the girl in the witch hat (can’t recall her name) and possibly the student council president. And of course, there’s all the other girls in Class 3.
I am enjoying this show somewhat, but there’s such a huge lapse in logic here. Yeah, I know, expecting any logic in a harem show is illogical, but I’m sure you get my point about how easily his dating/marrying problem is solved.

This has nothing to do with anime, but I want to bring it up as a warning/object lesson. Last week I had to evacuate home due to an approaching forest fire. I had a go pack ready ahead of time for such a case with a change of clothes, emergency food for my cats and myself and other vital items. I’m back home and everything is fine with my property since the fire was stopped before it got here. However, I urge everyone to have an emergency plan in place and a go pack that you can just grab and go in an emergency since sometimes you have only a few minutes to get out of the way of a disaster.

Campione!: Nice use of information transference. I wonder how many kisses Goudou will get at the end of the season if it’s the fastest way to gain knowledge. Damn that lucky bastard. His classmates would flip. The action was moderate but it passes. Erica is surprisingly devoted but also perverted as she trying to get in bed with him.
Dakara Boku wa, H ga Dekinai: No Sunbeam-chan interference is always a good sign. It would be great if it continues like this but most likely it won’t. “Your better girlfights always end up with only about 20% of cloth remaining” LOL. It’s a casualty of war. Time for comparison on who has bigger boobs: Iria, Rias Gremory or Seraphim. With so many nude around him, Ryou must be feeling like the luckiest man alive.
Hagure Yuusha no Estetica: Best episode of the bunch so far. I welcome the possibility of Chikage being with a different girl every week. You gotta have variety, dude, especially in yuri. I’m surprised she didn’t start stripping Miu down like she did the other girl last time. Akatsuki gets extra points for bullying the bully. That guy was a jerk and it was about time he got a taste of his own medicine. That was a really long sword he pulled out at the end but it can’t be longer than Sephiroth’s.
