One Piece – 550

If Hody beats Luffy, I’m putting an asterisks next to that W.
It’s weird to go just about an entire episode of One Piece without seeing the Strawhats. While they are focused on Luffy and Jimbei feuding, we turn attention to Hody and his henchmen. Pardon me for reviewing an episode I basically fast-forwarded through this since it was all of manga chapter 630 which could’ve been condensed instead of given the 1:1 conversion from manga –> anime. I think even an anime-only fan would find little gain from this episode, until the very end with Hody changing to an almost stone-white steroided freak. I’m glad to be back covering OP for Metanorn again, but this episode was pretty meh.

Aquarion EVOL – 23

image
Ku ku ku I don’t have a problem with that.
Time for my favorite mecha series of this season! More Aquarion EVOL here on Metanorn, but I see only three to four more episodes left, which makes me very sad… Anyway, this episode is filled with plenty of high points and a few shocking moments. First off Crea and Fudou work together to fill our minds with recap storylines from season one and this current season, but what are they revealing anyway? Fudou reveals the truth behind Amata and Kagura’s past lives as one person or moe flying dog with wings that loved the original Silvia from twelve thousand years ago! Yeah it helps if you saw the episode or season one of Aquarion… Other than the recap of who was reincarnated as whom, we say goodbye to one of the important characters of the series, but honestly that character has always been on the borderline of life and death for a long time.

Besides that character leaving us, we finally learn what the price was for Zessica’s sneaky deal with Mikage. So, what could it be? How about a nice body switch?! Yes, Mikage basically steals Zessica’s body for a vessel for himself leaving the original Zessica stuck inside her mind watching as Mikage tricks everyone… Damn, I did not see that swap coming at all! But still this is EVOL and everything is possible after all we have girls becoming dudes and lots of other random stuff.

Saki: Achiga-hen – Episode of Side-A – 08

Someone just finished watching Star Driver and wants to kiss through the glass…
Annnnnd we’re back with more glorious mahjong after what felt like a never-ending one week hiatus. (My impatience has hit new levels.) The first half of the episode must have been very nostalgic for viewers of the original Saki anime, which doesn’t include me unfortunately (I’ll watch is eventually …), and for a training arc it wasn’t half bad. Even though we didn’t hear much teaching or instructing going on, since it was mostly random game play, the charm of the characters once again proved to be one of the most entertaining aspects of the show. So even though I missed out on the nostalgia, it wasn’t a letdown. With wahaha-girl around, things never get boring.

Next week finally begins the semi-final round, and man am I excited. (´ ▽`) Leading the team once again is Kuro, going up against a table of powerful players including Teru from Shiraitodai, who looks scary without even having to play, and Toki from Senriyama. Kuro sure is in for a challenge. Her game play seems extremely predictable since she relies on dora, and I’m sure Toki will once again take advantage of that. Toki’s power however doesn’t seem all that reliable either, since it can only be used once per game. Honestly, I’m predicting a total blowout by Teru, I haven’t even seen the original Saki and I can sense her dominance.

I’m just really upset that there are only four more episodes. How is it possible to fit in both five rounds of the semi-finals and five rounds of the finals with such a short time period? The matches have been great up until now and I’d hate to see them get cut down. Anyway let’s wish Kuro some luck, until next time!~

Zetman – 10

Ohhhh those crazy Persona 4 cosplayers invading my best buy.
This episode is not as horrible as the previous ones, but it’s not that great too. So let’s say this episode was decent. Kouga was somehow bearable in this episode. Although he had his annoying moments, it seems that Kouga finally has some improvement in his character. He’s not as confused as before with made resolves. I’m happy that he’s finally shaping himself up. Less annoying moments, me gusta. My favorite part was definitely the cuddling between Jin and Hana (that’s her name right?) It’s so NNGGGGHHH and kawaiiiiii~ No, seriously, I’m really glad they’re together. I don’t really care much about Hana since she feels more like an extra character to me, but I’m glad Jin is having his happy moments. Life has been shitty for him, and finally there’s a gem among those shits. I’m sure that Haitani and his minions will butt in somehow. Let’s hope that Hana is strong enough to have a ZET as a husband.

Here’s the bad part of this episode: Haitani’s goal. I find Haitani as an interesting character. Him awakening Jin’s power etc., I thought there’s more than a typical villain in Haitani. But alas, I was wrong, and Haitani is just a typical villain who just wants to come out of the closet. Sorry, Haitani, but I’ve seen one thousand villains who are just like you. You don’t stand out anymore. The old man who’s all homo over Kouga is pissing me off too because so far, the things he has been doing are pointless. Is he some kind of obstacle Kouga needs to defeat? Well, he’s a bad one. Also, what was up with the sudden mole in Kouga’s Alpha group? His assistant was all cool until the previous episode where he smirked like an evil character, and his evilness is finally confirmed in this episode. Was that necessary? Was it just to add more drama? I hope there’s more than that.

Gundam Age – 34

HELL YEAH! Now Marika needs one of these to become a badass space pirate.
Welcome back into the fun with more Gundam AGE! Last week showed off Kio’s interesting piloting skills with the third generation Gundam and that insanely overpowered canon of his, but this week we got to meet another random faction in the AGE universe aka the space pirates. Yes this Gundam series has pirates and not the Mouretsu kind either and they are led by a strange commander with blond hair. So, who could this strange person be? Well, if you have been watching AGE up to this point, you might be able to successfully guess who it really is! So, far everyone that I know pretty much predicted that it was in fact Kio’s father Asuno who went “missing” a few days after Kio was born.

Yep Asuno, Flint and Kio were all in the same area fighting. So, why in the world did Asuno become a damn space pirate? I guess he had his eyes set on the all-powerful AGE device that creates weapons and armor for the various Gundams and he feels it is pretty much wasted on Diva, but he also wanted to see how his son fought in an actual battle aka testing his strength…sureeeee Asuno I think he just wanted to become a space pirate instead of a father figure for Kio, but hey I did like the whole look of his pirate themed gundam complete with hooks and an wicked eye patch. HELL YA!

@Fosh: “HELL YEAH! Now Marika needs one of these to become a badass space pirate.” LOL. Nice one. If Marika had one of those, she’d be unrivaled. She could make her own rules. That reminds me, I gotta catch back up on Mouretsu Pirates before the whole thing comes to a close. I haven’t watched that since episode 17 and trust me on this, there was an epic yuri kiss between Lynn and Jenny that shouldn’t be missed.

    • Foshizzel says:

Moretsu needs more giant robots! Seriously…the last episode with the pirates versus that massive white alien ship? I swear that thing was about to transform into a giant mecha xD

Yeah I am waiting for that series to wrap up before I start a special post for it.

      • BlackBriar says:

Hahaha, in the meantime, I’ll be catching up. Even when it finishes, I’ll always remember that yuri kiss. Lynn and Jenny kissed not once but twice and the whole yacht club (That’s full of girls, need I remind you) was swooning and cheering over them both. LOL. It’s obvious they fully approve. I leave you to draw your own conclusions. The only one disgusted with that was Chiaki.

        • Foshizzel says:

          Yuri kiss for great JUSTICE!!!!

Sadly after that arc the rest is pretty much left to the animation studio to do whatever the hell they want and so far they have done a excellent job with some original non LN work! I love how some other characters got time to shine rather than Captain Marika every time.

We need more Chiaki before the series ends! AAAARRGGGG

  2. D-LaN says:

CAN YOU LOVE A EVIL HANAZAWA KANA CHARACTER?

    Depends…. Wait, WHAT!?

    • Foshizzel says:

I LOVVEEEEE Evil Hanazawa Kana! Just like evil Nakajima Megumi! For some strange reason the girls with the really moe voices play some of the best villains…but we all know that really is Mikage messing around xD

  3. Gecko says:

    ZESSICA.
    What a crazy name.

  4. Jrow says:

Aquarion was really interesting this week and we’re to the point where big things are going to happen weekly which is exciting. For a while there, I was watching the telling of Aquarion’s history going, “are they showing me the ending now? Is this worth watching anymore?” I say that a bit sarcastically, but I’d be amazed (and pleased) if they broke pattern on one part of the lore of Aquarion.

    • Foshizzel says:

Aquarion EVOL lately has been edge of my seat entertainment! Seriously you never know what they will throw at you next from past stories to new shippings and twists on old characters? Damn…so…addictive.

Yeah I guess for fans that saw season one we probably didn’t get as much from this episode versus brand new fans of Aquarion…well maybe! I guess a refresher on the “lore” always helps for the most part.

  5. skylion says:

Saki:The plan was for no pan, and the no pan is the plan. Oh, and there is some marjhongy bits and pieces here and there. Don’t fade on the no pan plan.

EVOL: Being with this show since day one has been one hell of a ride. The never ending preposterous gags and narrative bits have been stand out. Since I am not a true Mecha fan, I crown this the Mecha Show for the Non-Mecha People. Your non-Mecha liege has spoken….

    • Foshizzel says:

You are so right Skylion! For novice Mecha fans Aquarion EVOL is somewhat perfect for anyone interested in mecha anime much like Gundam AGE for a great starter gundam series if you are ever curious about it.

Plus it helps to have so many characters to love and a few to hate xD

  6. anaaga says:

Gundam AGE, what in the world was that? The whole episode was anti-climatic, which is stupid since, c’mon, Asemu’s current identity is revealed! There’s supposed to besome SHOKKU and badass fight, but we ended up getting this crappy boring episode. Oh, AGE, just how crappy are you going to be?

    • Foshizzel says:

I KNOW RIGHT!? They should have kept Asemu’s identity a secret for at least three or four episodes, but noooooo! LOOLOL Ah well I still think his plan is really dumb I mean he could ask Flint for help…

True the episode was getting really dull in the middle.

  7. The_Magus_Killer says:

Darth Asemu: You are beaten, it is useless to resist. Don’t let yourself be destroyed as the white wolf did.

*Darth Asemu/AGE-2 Dark Hound cuts off AGE-3’s saber hand*

    Kio: Arghhhh!!!

Darth Asemu: There is no escape. Don’t make me destroy you.

*Kio/AGE-3 moves away from Darth Asemu/AGE-2 Dark Hound*

Darth Asemu: Kio, you do not yet realize your importance. You have only begun to discover your X-Rounder power. Join me, and I will complete your training. With our combined strength, we can end this destructive conflict, and bring order to the galaxy!

    Kio: I’ll never join you!

Darth Asemu: If you only knew the power of the Dark Side. Flit Asuno never told you what happened to your father…

Kio: He told me enough, he told me he went MIA.

Darth Asemu: No, I AM YOUR FATHER.

*slow version of Imperial March plays as Kio shakes his head*

Kio: No, no. *voice shaking* That’s not true, that’s impossible!

Darth Asemu: Search your feelings, you know it to be true.

    Kio: NO! NOOOOOOO!!

Darth Asemu: Kio, you can destroy Ezelcant and the Vagan. He has foreseen this. It is your destiny. Join me, and together, we can rule the Earth Federation as father and son!

*Darth Asemu clenches fist and reaches out towards Kio*

Darth Asemu: Come with me, it is the only way.

*Abis squad and the Diva come to Kio’s rescue and he escapes*

    • Foshizzel says:

Ahahahah ^ THIS ^ IS PERFECT-O! Nice work and I totally can hear the imperial march theme in the background.

  8. TheVoid says:

Like Mykage I’d be 12,000 years of pure mad too if I flirted with a dog. Sure he needs to get punched and beaten up a lot for what he does Show ▼

but I can sympathize with why he does it.
