Brave 10 – 07

I’m too sexy for my eyepatch~

Aren’t you guys seeing a lot more of me since last week? With some free time before restarting work, I have been doing some overhauling at the backend. Metanorn is what it is for all the planning that we do after all. Anyways, on anaaga’s absence I’ll cover this bishie fest for our readers.

From the previous episodes, you can already guess that things would move faster once Yukimura has assembled his Brave army of 10 warriors. We meet another such hopeful during his visit to a town named after me (Kyou), to attend the tea party arranged by Ieyasu Tokugawa. He has called out many feudal lords and leaders such as Ishida, Mitsunari, Kanetsugu and Date Masamune. Yukimura decides to attend and not to show all his cards, only takes Rokuro, Saizo and Isanami with him. Kamanosuke and Seikai aren’t happy to be left behind and away from their bottles of affection (Saizo and Isanami respectively), but we’ll meet them soon enough.

Dudes, didn’t your mom teach you to not talk to strangers?!

My Job Strategy: Killer smile = Instant Hiring!

During their journey, they are trapped by a kid, who lures them towards a less trodden path to test their bravery. Of course, they pass but not without the help of above mentioned stalkers: Seikai and Kamanosuke. The chibi turns out to be a master of traps and bombs and Yukimura decides to hire him even if he’s more than cheeky. Imagine him trapping many travelers and injuring them in process to look for a perfect master? This kid will sure be a handful. Rokuro’s a bit perturbed by him as well, sharing his name (Mochizuki Rokuro), so Yukimura dubs him Benmaru to clear out any future confusion.

Too sexy for my cloak~

We are not with this idiot. NOOOO!

On the other hand, the one-eyed dragon of Oshuu (Date), decks himself in a rather avant-garde ensemble to attend the party. Not to mention, take revenge on rescuing Isanami from under his watch. The dude has to understand, he can’t just kidnap anyone but who will make this bishie understand anyway? He has lied to Ieyasu about Isanami’s Kushi-mitama being fake as well so his goal is still to acquire it. Though, whatever uproar he or even Yukimura wanted to cause was nullified with the “Ninjou Gohatto” declaration by Ieyasu to not unsheathe weapons during the party and same applies to all the warriors serving under the lords attending.

Highlight of the evening: Special Dance Performance by Yukimura & Date

Yukimura and Rokuro meet Mitsunari and Kanetsugu, while entering the mansion of Ieyasu and they share their concern over his politics running rampant, which is bordering on being complicated. It seems as if the unrest is caused for a war to break out but for now, Yukimura and his cohorts will not be giving in easily. Date ruffles a lot of feathers (pun intended), unsheathing his longass sword to challenge Yukimura in the tea party. Playing along, Yukimura fights back almost dance-like with his fan (how cool was that?). The fight ends up with Date’s sword almost piercing Ieyasu’s very vital part. Yeah, Yukimura did not just fall over out of boredom and there goes the chance for Date to pierce the heaven!

Mitsunari: “Bitch Please! Did you see Ieyasu’s face, Kanetsugu?! LOLZ.”

Of course, this very much offended the great leader, Ieyasu Tokugawa, so he calls Yukimura to Shimijou, while Mitsunari and Kanetsugu predict this summoning would lead towards hara-kiri under house arrest. But, it’s not Yukimura’s usual style to just take things as they come so he makes a run for Ueda with his companions, destroying some bridges in the process for preventing Ieyasu’s men to follow them.

To the battleship!

My Heroes Can’t Be This Cute Bishie~

Benmaru: “Nee-san, bullheads keep bullying me. Please hide me in your bosom!”

Nice desu ne~

So much lust hate!

Uh…

*coughs*

Things are definitely going down but compared to some of the previous episodes, not a lot of action happened; though, Yukimura/Date faceoff made up for it. If you have been counting, we already have nine warriors by this episode so the peak of series is pretty close. So, what will happen after the Brave 10 is formed? Will Yukimura start a war or a sleuth mission against Ieyasu and/or Date to find the three remaining Kushi-mitama to change history? I guess, we’ll have to keep watching to find out.

Isanami is still useless and except for that weird power show in episode five and initial berserk mode, she hasn’t shown any signs of coping with her powers. She needs to stop eating junk food, frolicking about and hiding behind Saizo for good. I know her charm’s in being all cute and moe but I hate useless, pretty, characters like her and she’s the only missing link in Brave 10 currently. As I look forward to strong female characters, actually I’m always in the lookout for such characters; I can only hope that she becomes more useful than just an adorable doll in the upcoming episodes.

Now let me HNNGGG over the voice acting. I swear, I wouldn’t get into such rehashing of history if it weren’t for the awesome seiyuu cast. The prominent names that joined this episode are Midorikawa Hikaru as Mitsunari (Lancer in Fate/Zero, Xing-ke in Code Geass R2, Kaiba in Yu-Gi-Oh!), and Miki Shinichiro as Kanetsugu (Kaiki in Nisemonogatari, Mustang in FMA: Brotherhood, Urahara in Bleach). I already fangirl over Hiroshi Kamiya, Morikawa Toshiyuki, Takahiro Sakurai, Takehito Koyasu and Ono Daisuke so this series continues to be a seiyuu haven for me. And them being bishie also helps.

I’m not aware of the manga pacing but marathoning the last few episodes; I’m pretty satisfied with the flow of story. You can’t expect much from a one-cour series but the staff is not holding any punches and even the filler episode was interesting. This is Studio Sakimakura’s second project after Cardfighth! Vanguard with TMS Entertainment and even if the Staff isn’t all-star, this Action Seinen has kept up its pacing and progress. You can’t call this the most quality anime of the season but if you like historical action along with some eargasmic VA cast, this should be in your definite-check-out list.

Preview:

We’ll be meeting up with Jinpachi, the last to join Sanada’s Brave 10. Kakei will rejoin the team and it looks like some pirating would come into play too. So, look forward to the MANRY hippie next. Ja ne~

Rokuro’s jealously has no limit! He was so cute! Honsetly if I was Yukimura I would be pissed at that kid!! He could have killed my whole harem of pretty boys. Why is Mitsunari pretty? If I didn’t know better I would think this anime is shouen-ai appose to shouen.

EHHHHH~~~~ Ieyasu an old man, how is that going to work! Is it wrong to only watch this for amusement? and the yaoi XDDD

    • Kyokai says:

The obsession that Rokurou and Kamanosuke have for Yukimura and Saizo respectively is pretty funny indeed. And it’s not shounen but seinen and may be the reason of having the homolust vibes. It’s all in the game of heroic bishies after all. xD

Also, yeah, Ieyasu is damn fugly and you are not wrong in watching this for the bishies and homolust. xD

  5. Alynn says:

Date and Yukimura shipping forever hnnggggghh
//That’s basically my reason for watching this, oh and the VAs.

    • Kyokai says:

Seriously! Every sengoku historical anime turns into these two homolusting each other. It’s become so common now and still we can’t get enough. xD

  6. Rakuen says:

That kid had a pretty explosive personality, but he was no match for Yukimura’s bombastic bunch.
