Utao’s mother is enjoying having her daughter back while Kyohei is having a tense reunion with his father. Even he doesn’t know where Utao’s twin brother came from. They meet the rather loud chick whose going to fix Kukuri, Moyako. She has a very clingy sister called Yurako, who Hibino gets jealous of for gushing all over Utao. They explain some of mechanics of fixing and working the Dolls, it is an Evangelion like deal where they are somewhat “alive” and respond to the pilots mind. Moyako puts the psychic moves on Hibino and there’s hints that she was involved with Aki in some way.
Utao, back in miko garb, asks her grandfather about Kirio and he reveals the truth; that he was taken by the Hyuga clan and raised in secret. Speaking of Kirio, Kyoushiro has brought him to his home where he takes care of him (like a big brother should!)
So flash forward and Kukuri is fixed! Yay! He’s flying about like a boss under Utao’s control but she’s not doing so well in the other tests…So, lunch break! This gives Hibino and Moyako infinite time to argue, before we get back to training. Or flying around and scaring Hibino half to death…either one. Utao starts getting depressed thinking about Kirio so Kukuri starts plummeting, sending Hibino flying. Kyohei grabs her top and Utao grabs her bottom, resulting in fanservice and more anti-hilarity. Oh and if you didn’t get enough boobs in that last scene, have some wet-t-shirt fun, too. Sigh.

Well that was a humor retardant 20 minutes. This episode was just boring. All the random boobage exposure aside, it just fell very flat with everything. I know I wanted exposistion, but something with a bit more meat. We didn’t really learn anything about the shrine, so much as we learned a little about Dolls and how they function.
Moyako doing the talking for her old man was lame, but at least he doesn’t make that creepy lip-smacking sound as the guy in Tiger and Bunny. The two sisters were part of the humor problem and were really just as forgettable and bland as the rest of it. I’m a lot more interested in the next episode, though.
I think it’s a little more needed backstory, cause the stuff with the Dolls workings was interesting but I think it could have been condensed down and this whole episode could have been covered in half the time. It’s no secret I’m a hardcore Aki fan, so to see how him and Kyohei interacted in the past will be fun for me. Their sensei seems like a very strong influence on Kyohei, too. So I hope she lives up to expectations.

Yeah, Aki does look and sound like Accelerator. Insanity is very common trait in anime. But this fruitcake has hot, crazy company and she’s wearing glasses. Kuuko looks like she was waiting for someone like Aki to come along. I can’t wait to see those two again to get under Kyohei’s skin.
