Tits, Pecs and Evil Twins

A flashback to before Kuuko stole Aki shows Koushiro trying to convince him to return to the village. Aki doesn’t seem all that keen on the idea and so their fight begins. In typical DRRR!! fashion the chase scene is shown in a different perspective this time around, bringing us back to where we left off.

Meanwhile Hibino and Utao are cleaning up a grubby Kukuri. This leads to wet t-shirts and the forceable stripping of lolis. Kyouhei bursts in on them naked and soapy – fanservice ho! Utao’s bro-complex starts showing again as well, but luckily it’s quickly bypassed by some less ecchi comedy of Utao using salt instead of sugar. WA WA WAAAAAAA.

Just because you’re both girls doesn’t mean this isn’t inappropriate

Hibino alerts Kyohei to Kuuko’s suspicious behaviour earlier and they head to her place, where she’s got Aki tied up and half naked. She’s questioning him with firearms, but they both seem to be enjoying it. Until Aki gets free and the tables are flipped that is.

Utao joins Hibino and Kyohei, while Kuuko manages to get the upper hand on Aki once again. The guys’ stumble upon a dodgy looking scenario, her clothes are torn and he’s still sizzling with taser burns. Oh, my. Of course Aki forgets all about Kuuko when Kyohei shows up! Kyohei’s fuse is already lit so all it takes is a little comment from Aki about how Hibino looks like their old teacher for Kyohei to start beating the ever-loving shit out of him.

Aki flees and the gang gives chase, only to have Aki return to Kuuko’s later. Kyohei starts taking his frustration out on a poor defenceless wall until Hibino calms him down. Meanwhile Utao is seeing double. A boy with her face shows up with his own God, claiming to be her, and to be her Seki. He teases her and she attacks him, but his power level is over 9000! he’s too strong and easily blasts Kukuri out of the way leading to it nearly land on Kyohei and Hibino. Utao comes running and her lookalike introduces himself as their brother. What a twist!

END THOUGHTS

For such a fanservice-heavy episode they sure managed to cram in a lot of character development. I just love Kuuko. Miyuki Sawashiro is a stunning voice actress and it’s hard not to like a character she plays. Whether it’s Shinku (Rozen Maiden), Ayane (Kimi ni Todoke) or Celty (Durarara!), she always portrays women with a whole load of attitude and fun behind them. It was pretty cool to see her hold her own against the unpredictable Aki, and maybe even equal him in terms of messed-upped-ness. If that’s a phrase, lol. I look forward to seeing more of those two together, even if the way they met played like a rohypnol infomercial. What I want to know is where Kuuko got that taser! I tried to buy brass knuckles once and got told they were illegal. I know it’s Japan but dayum, woman got balls. I guess she just stole it from her Dad. Also, her room looks exactly like mine right now, moving…orz.

As usual the pace was fast; it was a very gaspy episode. Everyone was always out of breath with flushed faces, half the time I thought I was watching Oofuri with the permenant blush lighting up everyone’s cheeks. It helped add to the franticness of things, though, and kept the energy up. This turned out to be quite the emotional episode with more hinting at Kyohei’s darker side. Something I am very interested in. Mild mannered Kyohei? Pshaw~ He coudn’t possibly be a bad guy, right? Well, he definitely doesn’t seem like the violent type, so when he does loose his temper and lays into Aki, especially in front of Hibino, I tend to think it’s a big ass deal. Aki just has a talent for pressing his buttons, and I really would love it if this show took Kyohei lower. Cause at the moment he is a pretty weak protagonist, Brains Base probably realise this and that’s why the side characters have been the ones driving the story forward. Now, onto what I really want to talk about…

God, Aki is a sexy hostage. Seriously, I considered just skipping the usual 6 thumbnail images and using that big screenshot of him in his pants, tied up with “JUST THIS” underneath it, cause that’s all I saw this episode. Aki is an unexpected paper tiger. I never thought he would be the “big bad”, but he came off a lot stronger in the first few episodes than he is now. My perception of him as shifted, and like I mentioned last time, you kind of end up pitying him. Out of everyone, he’s strangely become the one that seems the most sane. Kyohei is a mess, Kuuko’s a total obssessive, hell… even Hibino seemed to be cracking a little this time around. It’s part of the reason I love Aki so much (aside from his loveable batshit insane-ness) and it’s also what keeps my interest in Kamisama Dolls. It’s anyone’s game at the moment, and if Aki really does turn out to be a victim in all of this I think it would add an interesting dynamic to the show.

The only thing that really bugs me about Kamisama Dolls is the lack of information about the shrine. In the beginning it was fine, they had other things to flesh out, but it’s starting to get a little hard to follow without more information. 4 episodes in and it’s always referenced but we still don’t know any more than we did in episode 1. Hopefully with the arrival of Utao’s evil twin he’ll be able to shed some light on things.
