Toaru Majutsu no Index II – 22

Vent and Amata get punished!

Welcome back to the magic and science show! It’s time for us to find out how Touma and Accelerator are doing in their own boss fights. Last week was the start of some great fights coming up, with this episode I think we are wrapping up the best arc by far. Time for the review!

Plot this week continues with Touma preparing to fight Vent and Accelerator fighting off Amata, while Index and Mikoto team up over the phone to deactivate the angel somehow, maybe through the power of song? Leave it to Index to sing during a massive battle.

Accelerator laying down on the job.

This face, Touma, you don’t want this in your harem.

During the fight with Amata something happens to Accelerator, he becomes almost like a zombie; even groans like one. Thankfully he doesn’t eat Amata’s brain, but he does rip a chunk of hair out. Meanwhile, Touma attempts to reason with Vent; yes, because that always worked in the past huh, Touma?? Of course he fails and they fight it out. Also, Hyoka makes it snow some strange particles; no it’s not GN particles! But the snow does protect the fallen people.

Touma-“LOL, I Has a magical hand”                                          Vent- ”ARE YOU HIGH?”

Amata- “Uhh, sure just a little off the top, OMG YOU SUCK!”

My zombified Accelerator can’t be this happy.

Vent and Touma practice some dance moves.

While Vent fights off the annoying speeches from Touma, she reveals her reasons for fighting. It involves her little brother getting hurt at a theme park. And naturally she now hates science forever, because her brother gave his blood to save her life. Touma of course can’t get through her skull and knocks her out.

And so brings the end to the most unique boss character for Touma! See you later, Vent!

While zombie Accelerator “fights” Amata, Index arrives and talks to Mikoto over the phone once she finds Last Order. This was so dumb! Amata was right there, he could have owned Index! Anyway, she figures a way to help Last Order by singing a song to free the girl’s mind. Somehow this also affects Accelerator who enters God Mode and whoops Amata in a matter of minutes; in fact he hits him so fast he turns Amata into a shooting star! SO AWESOME!

Index- “Sooo, what are you doing now?”                        Mikoto- “Playing tag with bullets…”

I would so pinch her cheeks, so cuteeeeooooooo!

Index sings- “LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOOOOORRRR!”

Accelerator has the face of an angel er… I mean devil.

Amata’s mom always said he was a huge star….

After the ending credits roll, we get introduced to another church member who grabs Vent’s body. His name is Acqua of the Back! Another magician who hates and automatically makes Touma’s hit list. Before he leaves with her, he gives Touma Vent’s cross. Congratulations, Touma, you made another creepy male friend.

Touma- “YES, I WIN!”

Acqua- “BITCH PLEASE, YOU NOW FACE AIZEN SAMA!!!”

Extra Powers!

Index- “Can I eat this? I am starving, guys!”

One soldier called her flat and everyone pays for it! Way to go, dude.

Accelerator is just showing off; don’t try this at home kids!

End Thoughts:

Not too much to complain about this week, aside from the fight between Touma and Vent. The build up to the showdown between them wasn’t as over the top as I wanted, but usually Touma-fights are him dodging and using his Imagine Breaker a few times. Vent’s reason for fighting I guess works; I was expecting the guy who saves her to end up being her brother. That would have been cool, that dude does scream Aizen based on character design.

Accelerator turning all zombie on us was a bit freaky! Definitely don’t want to mess with him when he gets that way. But he does gain some awesome strength; I guess it also helps deal with all that pain too! So, I can see how having that extra power comes in handy. Amata should have just used a gun or thrown Accelerator from the window! Probably would have worked quite well.

And so much for Mikoto finally being let in the inner circle of all the magician information from Index, I don’t think she will ever get to find out. Sucks for sure, but I guess they do have plans for her somewhere; really hope they can pull out another Railgun anime. Sometimes I still want to see the Misaka Worst clone! Also, what if Index can heal Accelerator? It would be nice to see her at least try to be useful .

Preview!

This guy needs a spin off, Toaru no frog face doctor! Or maybe he doesn’t need one…

Next week seems to be a chatter filled episode, with everyone recovering from the current events. I did notice a familiar face from season one! The kid that wore that suit, he was shown in the second opening walking with Tsuchimikado and the move point chick.

Thanks! No, Index II next week, but stay tuned!

this episode was ok… i guess? Glad Vent and Touma actually ‘battled’ instead of playing catch… but whats with the suddenly increased people on the store/cafe thing :3
for people who read the book might know what the hell is going on, but for people who didn’t they might think like what the hell are they doing? Index was trying to cancel the artificial angel by using her voice as a medium.. this includes magic, or at least magical processes since artificial angel is still an angel, therefore, Accelerator when hearing of this voice added a new vector/area into his calculations aka magic, not controllable (yet) but extremely powerful, the black wings killed Kihara almost instantly or as you can see he burned up in mid air completely by the friction
P.S. I was extremely disappointed at how Aqua was portrayed, he looks too young and too skinny, he’s supposed to be this veteran of combat macho type guy :3

    • Foshizzel says:

Yeah decent episode, I mean could have been so much better! Vent’s story was kind of weak on the dramatics. Yeah her brother died and he told the doctors to let her live, and now science suddenly sucks LOL lame I say.

I think Index was singing to “unlock” something in Last Order, and made Accelerator wake up and regain some power. I like to think she was healing? or helped him recover some of powers. Either way when he has Amata’s face he says something like a spell similar to what Index does when she’s in danger.

      I started to read the novels with 13, but got laaazzzyyyy so I didn’t read 14 or 15 >.>;

Aqua looks like Aizen….. Well to me! Guess I should stop being lazy and read the chapters.

      • MikADo says:

yeah, basically index was trying to unlock the virus that has been planted to Last Order by the testament using her song :3
Accelerator gained new area of control other than vector by hearing Index’s song, which is magic

    • Dan-go says:

ehh, okay ish, wanted it to be a little more dark, and WHY DOES EVERYSINGLE VILLAIN IN THIS ENTIRE SERIES HAVE TO HAVE A GOODSIDE!?!??! WHY CANT THEY JUST BE EVIL, MISGUIDED SET OF VALUES?!

      • MikADo says:

hahaha i agree Dango, but you will see this pattern repeat itself in this series again and again, so you better just give up :3

        usually its:
        kamijo -> enemy(male) -> punch -> good guy(gets girlfriend)
        kamijo -> enemy(female) -> punch -> harem member

with few exceptions, this rule applies to most episodes :3

        • Foshizzel says:

LOL Yessss I like this chart, what happens when Index bites you thou? does this add to Touma’s “harem gathering powers” or does it reverse it xD

          • MikADo says:

thats just index’s frustration at looking at the increasing harem members :3

            • Dan-go says:

Some characters are just tooo lucky

            • BlackBriar says:

Some guys just have it too good. Damn these lucky bastards!! It’s not fair!!

      • Foshizzel says:

Hahahah yeah I agree with you there! Not sure why maybe they want to be like Touma? XD

    • Junko says:

      That..makes tons more sense, awesome

  2. BlackLagoon187 says:

OMG! Touma actually used his elbow once this time xD
    ROFL

  3. Ican helpwithindexquestions says:

Acquas voice makes up for him looking young. Though as for looking skinny. He is always like that until he fights and then we got the terminator.

    • Foshizzel says:

Ohhh nice! I hope we get to see more of him until the series gets finished. Sadly I think we are going to get a few plot filled episodes, and of course the random filler with Index being hungry and Mikoto blushing around Touma.

  4. Reaper says:

All I have to say for Amata is…Team Amata’s blasting off again!
Anywho, great episode, though I felt somewhat jipped with sudden cut in action, JC Staff, why must you hurry everything at the end when it’s getting good? A knockout punch from Touma, down goes the boss…orz
As for Accelerator…LOL Index just walks in and Amata’s like, what? Looks between the sister curing Last Order and a near dead Accelerator…proceeds to beat the crap out of Accelerator…which was a bad choice as I already noted.
Overall, it was enjoyable, especially with Acqua. I wished for a fighting scene since he is a Saint but I guess even he was afraid of Touma’s harem attracting powers (Imagine Breaker of course meant nothing to Acqua).
I think Acqua was rather fitting with his character, Show ▼

having been all over the world and seeing things that would have actually fit with his design. Agree, he’s a little skinny and youngish but would an enemy really notice that when Acqua’s sticking a 3.5m sword weighing 200kg that (historically owned by lancelot of the lake) could actually kill a dragon (in context)? I think I’d be running away, just maybe…
Can’t wait for next episode, and as always, keep up the good work Foshizzel!

    • Reaper says:

And, really, Joji should have been his seiyu. So wasted on that random crossboy guy int he first episode

    • Foshizzel says:

Rocket Amata is really epic! Accelerator packs quite the punch xD

Agreed we didn’t get much “action” thrown in this time, really lame fights all around. LOL Yes Index randomly walking in during the scenes with Amata and Accelerator was dumb. Like he completely ignores her like it’s cool you do what you want I am busy kicking.

Sadly I don’t know much of Acqua! But I am sure he would kick Touma’s ass! I gotta get in on those novel reading soon!

Lol thanks! I really enjoy Index as much as people bash or trash talk it, there are a few fun and cool moments!

  5. MikADo says:

Well the froggy doctor is already in both railgun and index, and plays major role in both parts, especially index since he patches up Touma every time after one big episode ends so that he could fight and increase his harem and how he actually SAVED Alleistar :3 He dont need any spinoff, he still has a lot to show

    • MikADo says:

if you finished reading volume 13, you will know he is actually one of the founding members of the kahuen city itself :3

    • Foshizzel says:

Hahaha yes yes that is true, I forgot he was around in Railgun series. Frog series would be like a hospital drama with in Academy city! Might be interesting Muhahaha.

  6. Ican helpwithindexquestions says:

If u read volume 14 foshizzel prepare to be shocked and interested a couple of times
