Ciel in Wonderland – 01
So much silliness, you wi–BLACK PEPPER~!!
~I’ve finally gotten to watch it…FINALLY. * sobs* It’s been almost three months since the expected release date of the first part in a long string of OVAs being released with the Kuroshitsuji II DVDs, and now, after being patient for weeks for an English translation and snooping around on livejournal, Hoshi here finally was able to see Ciel in Wonderland (Yes, I know I’m being overdramatic but it’s Kuroshitsuji)!! I’m surprised at myself that it took me this long to do a review for it. When I first heard of it, I started fangirling like crazy, but when it actually came out, I wasn’t as giddy as I thought I was going to be. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME? I’m the ultimate Kuro-fangirl! I hope this doesn’t mean I’m losing interest! *sobs* (No of course not; I love this series way too much).
Now the ridiculous comedy that is Ciel in Wonderland begins with a prologue narrated by none other than Sebastian. Ciel sits at his desk as usual, bored, when he notices a bunny tail suddenly pop out from Sebastian’s…behind.
Shocked and curious, he runs after bunny-eared Sebastian, following him to the basement where he falls down “the rabbit hole”.
Ciel winds up in a strange room with doors flying about in the air, none of which he can open and escape through. Again he spots a miniature Sebastian, who disappears behind a miniature door. As he tries to open it, Elizabeth, or Lady Dormouse, spots him and typical-happy-Lizzie actions ensue.
He is suddenly changed into more Alice-y type clothes (which are SOOOOO CUTE) where he is also seated to have tea with Lady Dormouse. The dodo brings them both a very pink, decorated cake that says “Eat Me”. While Ciel takes caution, the Lady eats it in one gulp, but starts to feel strange. Suddenly she starts growing larger and larger to giant proportions.
HOSHI DOES NOT APPROVE…
Ciel tries to help her by giving her the “Drink Me!” potion out of some slut’s the maid’s…chest, yet the Lady Dormouse quickly gets over her being a giant, and they are suddenly swept to the ocean.
AGAIN?! DO I HAVE TO KILL A–?!
There, they meet up with the altered versions of Meyrin, Finny, Bard, and Tanaka, and spot the White Rabbit, Sebastian. Suddenly a…very large puppy (?!) comes towards them through the water and sinks their boats. Ciel is swept away into the water, but is saved and brought back to some shack by the coast. He has to change however, and the only option he has is, well, his pretty pink dress.
Turns out the person who owns the shack is Viscount Druitt, and being the way he is, makes Ciel dance with him until he can dance correctly.
Our sentiments exactly Ciel…
He makes him keep dancing until he gets a little…too excited and flings Ciel into the air, making him practically “blast off” like Team Rocket (Ohhh old school anime jokes heh).
Ciel is blasting off agaaaaain~!!
Ciel crashes into a palace, this time wearing a cook’s hat and apron along with his adorable Alice outfit. There we see the Duchess, and her…err, his Chef, who likes too much black pepper.
BLACK PEPPERRRRR! Because you can never have enough…
The duchess introduces Alice (Ciel) as his kitchen maid, and his other partner, the Chesire Cat. Ciel tries to leave, but accidentally drops a potato on ground, which makes the Duchess and the Chef angry since he’s wasted food. But instead of a punishment, the Chef thrusts curry bread into Ciel’s mouth, which he eats.
If we hadn’t learned from watching this whole episode practically, it seems like eating something in this place is always going to make you bigger, as Ciel starts turning…fat!
He ends up growing larger and larger until he busts through the palace. When the dust clears, he has grown into a giant himself, but with an Eiffel tower body (?).
Ciel wonders about trying to find Sebastian, and meets up with Officer Lizard, who offers to help him but in the end doesn’t. He tells Ciel to tell him of the item he brought with him, which is a pink-wrapped candy. Officer Lizard tells him its a magical candy that will allow his mood to relax, and that if he eats it, something interesting will happen. Ciel does indeed eat it, and as the OVA closes, all we hear is Ciel’s scream~.

End thoughts: Oh lord, I couldn’t stop laughing throughout this whole OVA. I was either busting up laughing, or saying “WTF?!” every other minute of it xD It was all just so random and weird and extremely ridiculous, it made me laugh like crazy, especially since the anime was pretty serious most of the time. The comedy was actually more tastefully done than I thought it was going to be; I was expecting really cheesy jokes and such, but it turned out to be way different from what I imagined xD The only thing I didn’t like, which is going to be totally obvious of me once you finish this sentence, was with Elizabeth’s maid showing off her boobs a lot. Poor Ciel…I WILL PROTECT YOU BABY! *shot* Anyways, I also absolutely loved Sebastian’s nonchalant, sarcastic narration |’D He’s so mean; he’s almost always making fun of Ciel in some way hahaha~. (Revenge I’m assuming?)
As for the characters, Grell is, WITHOUT A DOUBT, the BEST anime character I’ve seen play the Chesire Cat. PERIOD. His teeth, his whole look, his attitude, I was literally fangirling like crazy when I saw him, and I’ve NEVER fangirled over Grell before! I’m excited to see more of him in the next part where he’s actually going to speak xD Of course, I can’t forget to show my pedophile love for Ciel~!! UWAAAH~! He was SO ADORABLE! His outfit is just absolute love! :’D I wish I had at least a plushie of him with that outfit. I’d squeeze-hug him every day kyaaaa~! *takes deep breaths* Yana Toboso did an amazing job with the character designs; all of their outfits were really unique, but still had their Alice in Wonderland character theme in it ^^ Toboso-sama, I bow down to you and your creativeness<3
Overall the OVA is just plain random, strange fun, which is fitting for such a tale as Alice in Wonderland. I really enjoyed, no, LOVED it. The only thing I hate right now is the fact its second part won’t be out till next year, plus you have to add on the week before someone actually uploads, then subs it ;A; *sobs* I’LL BE WAITING PATIENTLY AGAIN~!
Preview: Surprisingly there isn’t any cool animation for the preview, but we do get some more of Sebastian’s hilarious narration (Daisuke Ono, YOU ARE ONE OF THE BEST). It looks like Ciel with have a reunion with the Chesire Cat, meet a…larva (?), and have tea with the Mad Hatter. Until next year then~! (DAMN YOU A-1…)

This OVA was fantastic! Oh, Ciel was so freaking cute!!! Omochikaeri! Kyaaa!!!! *ahem* Wait… you’ve never fangirled over Grell before? 😮 Like… never? I’m always fangirling over Grell. Actually, it’s because of him that I started watching Kuroshitsuji. I saw a video about him on Youtube and he looked so silly that I had to watch it. xD Of course then I discovered how adorable Ciel was and how smexy Sebby was, but I fangirled over Grell nonetheless. Okay, enough about my fangirling over Grell! (I think you pushed a button… ^^;)

But for my fan-girl heart this wasn’t enough….
This OVA turned out to be so amazingly good! It was absolutely random, awkward and strange, but I loved it to bits))) When they first showed Grell as a Cheshire cat my eyes were looked this –> O_O Nyaaaaaa
I’m not really a fan of that character, but it was so hilarious! xD Ciel, I think I’m loving you more & more :3 but still, Sebastian is the only one for me ^^ (And the ironical narrating was a splendid detailing to the OVA)

I just watched it. hehe. i LOVE soma and agni’s part the most! they act like a true asian! i laughed so hard when agni keeps using the black pepper as the solution because that’ just like my mom! every answer culinary problems is BLACK PEPPER! xD and when they got pised when ciel throws the potato away, they look so cool but funny at the same time! xD

First of all, I thought it was hilarious (especially the part with the Viscount and the explosion! xD), but I would’ve liked it more if they just cut out the parts with Paula; they’re PURE fanservice. >__> OH GRELL.
