What in the world? I don’t even….
There are times when fandom takes over your life and it has done it to me as I get more involved. Like dreaming in Japanese for one and actually understanding what the hell was going on! New in the list of unexpected are the few titles I’ve recently watched. There was a time when I was a n00b (years ago), when I used to shrink away from everything mature, ecchi, yaoi, hentai; in short whatever that had a making of pron. Not that I have anything against it; it’s there, people enjoy it, for some it’s even a guilty pleasure. If someone comes up to me today and say, I’m innocent and I haven’t seen anything! I’ll just kick his/her ass unless they are five-year-old kids (even then I would inspect for some sketchiness). Scan with death perception would be a good idea.
Coming back to my point, yesterday after catching up to Kuragehime, Arakawa under the BridgexBridge and Bakuman, I visited Nyaatorrents to check out what’s new and lo and behold… OreImo, Aki Sora OVA2 and KissxSis OVA4 subs were out; not to mention, one after the other. Just because it was there and our Chatbox has been full of interesting talk on wincest (in DDD Podcast too), I thought to give it all a go and wow, what an experience it was… Yosuga no Sora should have released yesterday, giving it a full circle. Still, the fandom still jizzed their pants in glee and I wondered why.
I’m one of those people who sample anything, label it to discovering new stuff to downright curiosity. This is the reason why I test watch almost EVERY seasonal anime except for some kiddy and hardcore mecha ones (though I liked TTGL, Evangelion movies, Code Geass, etc.). From last two seasons more so because well, you gotta be informed when you are so deep in the fandom. Sibcon in general is becoming a new trend just like gender-bending and cross-dressing few seasons before. Wincest is the new shite so all of you siscons and brocons can come out of your hidey-holes and howl at the moon as the complex has bled onto the mainstream anime (this was not a Maiden Rose joke, ugh). It was always there in hentai and manga but now some of those manga are being adapted to anime.
Did I ever thought, I would be watching wincest material? No way. Though I still did, challenging myself. So, here goes my short yet a very personal view on all the titles mentioned, not in any particular order.
OreImo:
Finally a series that did not turn out as I expected. I’m so glad that things are still going steady between Kyousuke and Kirino, rather than they being converted to another incestual couple. I mean, animanga are filled with such storylines and don’t you want to really see something that has some depth with the right dash of humour? For me, Yuuichi Nakamura has made this series not just win but EPIC WIN~. The bland expressions complete with deadpan stares are more than chuckle producing. Kyousuke’s character in itself is no-bullshit and srs-bsns but Nakamura has breathed a fresh air into this character. Kirino is the perfect moe-moe otaku-dream, while Ruri is your know-it-all. I still wonder why Saori wears those weird glasses, most probably to disguise her sage aura or something. The storyline keeps you guessing and the audience is of two minds, one being glad of no sign of incest yet the other one actually wishing for Kyousuke to hook up with Kirino. If you are not watching this. Bubuuu! Rather everyone should be wishing for Kyousuke to be their Onii-chan~
I’m not putting up any more screens as Hato would be covering the current episode already. Leaving you with another epic win by Yuuichi Nakamura in Clannad: After Story:
Kiss x Sis:
This is crack for some. I am not shitting you. The main series was twelve-episodes and I could only watch five; most of them were skipped from one scene to other due to moe lolis indulging in twincest! Though it was not as graphic as Aki Sora, the angles were handled to the maximum under the standards allowed. Watching the fourth OVA without following the main storyline or even the previous OVAs did not leave me wanting more. I just laughed and rolled my eyes mostly. I mean, you have the usual cop-out of siblings who have different biological parents and are attracted to each other. Specifically, Keita’s elder twin sisters Ako and Riko can’t keep their hands to themselves and surrender to his manliness every day. The OVA was nothing but your usual fodder of an onsen visit and yes there was a lot of fluid exchange. I just watched this for the heck of it. I can only say, animation was well done.

Aki Sora – Yume no Naka:
The storyline is just a bit different from kiss x sis, where the twins are boy and girl. The main pair is of course the big sis Aki and the younger brother Sora; figures but with a difference: all of them are really siblings. The OVA that I watched was pretty much centered on the twin sister Nami, who actually loves Kana but who in turn loves Sora… Yes, it’s a vicious circle indeed. Just because Kana forcefully pleasured Sora—which was a big joke as Sora is this puny teen and the girl (Aki) he lusts after is big on every definition of the word. Forcefully is just a few strokes away from being raped by Kana; poor main hero, who is actually a shouta molested by two women (one of them being his own twin). His counterpart does try to rape him just because her beloved Kana loves him but he pretty much enjoys it too. By definition of hentai, this was not one; downright ecchi, yes. There was some semblance of plot, character development (the maximum that can happen in an episode) and scenes; not to mention, no close up whatsoever of some specific areas (don’t even talk about Koi de Oshigoto and the vocabulary training in here), which made this watchable. Oh also, KIMOCHIIII! >.>
The guy is part girl and part shouta (perfect uke material). You can’t really blame him, can you?
Yosuga no Sora:
The current season’s twincest-crack because Haruka and Sora are real twins, thrown together in a new situation after their parents pass away due to an accident. I was a bit surprised with the whole kiddy kissing game that became serious but of course there’s a harem waiting for our Haruka, who is loved by all bijins in his class. There are surprising scene thrown across every episode; it’s ecchi after all so be aware. Again, animation is very good with a nice treatment to light, shadows and how they play across the screen. If twincest is your thing, you should be all over this.
Final Thoughts: Wincest, the motherload of all cests (bro, sis, twin) is here to say and you either like it or don’t. There’s something for everyone so don’t be shy and like a pro sample everything or else how will you develop your own very taste?
Before I close, can’t forget Amagami SS, which has its own Miya and her secret love for her Onii-chan, Junichi. Nishishishishiii~ And TWGOK has bit of a hint of the same with Elcea posing as Keima’s half-sister. Should I mention Mikoto and Misaka from Index? But wouldn’t Kuroko kill Misaka herself if even a hint of this happened; not to mention, I won’t like Accelerator being abandoned. ^^
All in all, fandom, you have misconstrued my thinking. I was a normal girl before and now I am going towards a hardcore otaku, who watches sketchy anime and enjoys it. What is next for me? I should find some weird genres and give them a watch. How about it readers/delurkers? What can be next? You make a good point, incest has been running rampant. It is EVERYWHERE and is completely normal now. I guess it has to do with the whole “forbidden fruit being sweeter” thing. People like dark temptation.
As for me…just no. I tried Oreimo, and it’s just not witty enough for me (Im going to be infamous for hating all the super popular shows this season, aren’t I?). Yosuga no Sora is better, but I am skipping the twincest arc FOR SURE. Really, are you that desperate that you go after someone related to you? *rubs temples* Do as you wish, siscons and brocons, I won’t stop you. But don’t expect me to watch a show filled with your shenanigans!

@ Cool, I never think of my anime in RL terms or else I’ll stop watching almost half of them. In reality I can never find any relation between siblings and parents because they are of our own blood and you can never think anything sexual about them.

I have seen all of these so let me put my opinions
oreimo-though I do get the premise, its somewhat boring to me with melodrama and reminds me of neko overun… plus ive seen that there are now a couple of doujins showing up and try to guess who are the “pairs” usually….
kissXsis-I havent watched the OVAs yet and I only watched halfway through the series but it was very ecchi….
aki sora-I havent watched the OVAs yet but ive read the manga, little to no plot unless you mean sora banging other girls or more accurately ‘being’ banged by girls
from what I heard it was pretty diff from the manga:
nami threatened to cut off his ‘thing’ because why did he have one while she didnt, then she hallucinates from depression and imagines sora is kana and that she has a ‘thing'(you can probably guess what happens…)then nami finally snaps out of it and realizes what happens, before leaving she threatens to cut it off for real if he tells what happened…
why I like nami is because she, unlike most of the girls, didnt fall instantly for sora, she also is the only girl who suspects something going on with aki and sora, and is a psycho
lesbianbiyosuga no sora-amado pretty much sums it all for me plus they are close to an official couple(for me) in the twincest section

Good to know your detailed comments. It’s always nice to get another perspective. Wincest is pretty much here to stay and every fandom fanatic should be aware of it.
Good insight on the manga, I guess, the studio played the anime with a lighter tone because there was not a lot of bullying shown in the OVA except for raping the guy. Though the summary of the previously aired first OVA tells me that the bullying was definitely touched upon. No wonder, poor Sora turned out to be a gullible shouta. >.>
Btw, I might just give Yosuga no Sora another watch. ^^

aki sora is much more worse in the manga, lets just say that so far the other girls have at least has ‘gotten’ him 2-3 times or 2-3 chapters for now, the other times its with aki…. no really every other chapter will always be with aki

more reasons for nami being my fave girl: she says this to aki when she was asking why both of them suddenly are getting along(sora is usually snubbed by nami because of kana)”so whats wrong with being close to your brother?, sora-nii doesnt belong only to you aki-nee”(I think I might got the ‘nii’ and ‘nee’ wrong though, im not very knowing about japan standards) aki doesnt know what happened between them but this definitely put her in place for a change…

ahahaha oh Lulu, I felt the same way with Yosuga No Sora and Kiss X Sis but I gotta say Oreimo is really good, everyone’s first thoughts were “it’s gonna be incest!” but it isn’t. Kyousuke is really an ideal brother isn’t he?
To be honest I watched the whole thing of Kiss X Sis, the OVA’s and the series….well.. it did get to the point of extreme ecchi especially the newest OVA that was released a few days ago… O_O
Have you seen Amagami SS? Yosuga no Sora goes by the same concept as Amagami SS where each girl gets her own arc but the only thing different is that we occasionally see a “banging” scene (spoilers guys) disturbing indeed but a good romance story xD
