Double Update: Another Milestone achieved & we got a new crowd to introduce! ^^
Domo Minnasan~ I bring some site updates and an introduction of the new team conducted for adding fresh blood to Metanorn.
Site Update:
We crossed that 3 MILLION HITS MILESTONE!!! We are currently at 3.14M and increasing daily of course. We hit 1 Million in October 2009 so it’s amazing that we doubled that before even a year was past (in exactly 9 months). So, thank you constant readers, lurkers, commentors for keeping up with our content.
Weekly Traffic since early Jan this year. Our traffic peaks occurred in January and Jun-July. Hopefully, we’ll keep up with the increasing trend. The bridge of shame happened in March and April when very less updates were done. We won’t let that happen again, promise… ^^;
For the new team, I never realized that the announcement put up for around 10 days would get such a humongous response at such a short span of time, but that is what really happened. Interestingly, the Evangelion picture I posted in the Team Up! portrayed three girls and two guys and that is exactly what we ended up selecting for the new blood. Coincidence, eh?! ^^
Judging Process:
The deadline for submission was 31st July, 2010 and we still got around 4 on the last day, which I let slide in because of different time zones. At first I might have done this individually but due to an overwhelming response I brought in three friends from Sekijitsu to make the process more seamless. So, every applicant should be reassured that every fact they mentioned in their application along with the review(s) submitted was evaluated and marked on the basis of English, grammar, thoughts put in, innovativeness, overall interest in the fandom and relevance to Metanorn content.
The selection process was grueling yet a very thorough one as we wanted to be sure of each and every requirement mentioned in the application procedure to be fulfilled. From the 20+ applications received, we decided to select 5 so that we can cover a blend of shows. Though, all thanks go out to the applicants for taking out the time to apply and showing interest in our site.

Secondly, for helping me with the difficult judging, the awesome peeps of Sekijitsu, who not only assisted in making all of this possible within a week’s time but literally spent hours on discussing minute details of the screened applicants and their every attribute. Special mention of Flags, who I’ve leased off SJ and whose brain I usually pick (sorry, dude, for any hair loss I caused… xD); he has not only become a part of our team but has been helping me at the backend (like, this Type-moon pic was edited out of so many characters to fit the active authors =.=;;).
Thirdly, Bakuhasu from The DDD Cast, who advertised for authors wanted in their podcast. Check them out, they are part of our Blogroll and they talk about some awesomeoferric fandom fun.
New Authors: You would say, an odd time to hire authors. I agree with you. I should have thought about this when summer season was just dawning on us. But oh, well, RL can come around any time and it’s better to have new blood to keep things alive and that is how I came upon the new Metanorn sacri- I mean, slav-, oh seriously, TEAM! For your benefit, virtual selves of all active authors on the main pic, from left to right: Kyokai, Flags, Hoshi, Overcooled, Masu, Ryuuko and Hato-kun.
I hope you would extend your support to all of the new team members in becoming better and blogging exactly the shows you would like to follow. This is just a preparation for fall. ^^
Flags – The Know-it-all

I come from the land of the ice and snow, from the midnight sun where the hot springs blow. Okay well maybe not. I come from lots of different places; namely Ireland, Wales, England and now Canada. I’ve been an anime fan for about twice my real age and I know about as much about feelings as I do tact.
I’m into everything, well most nearly everything. Anyone who reads my post over at Sekijitsu will know that I love romance and shoujo, but I also love horror and violence. I’m a big football fan (the one where you kick a ball with your foot) and am not averse to covering a particular Cyclops slaughtering football anime.
Since my main blog is Sekijitsu I am only going to be writing random posts for now, though depending on the fall season you may see some more of me. You can consider me the Major to Kyokai’s General. Fortunately Kyokai and I are great friends. Unfortunately she became friends with me before realizing that I’m a huge sexist with no tact, but oh well she can’t do anything about it now. Muahahahaha!
Hato-kun – The Overzealous Gamer

Yo~! I’m Hato-kun, one of the newer writers picked up by Kyokai for Metanorn! I’ve been a very active member of the World Wide Web for quite some time now, and I thought one day “Hey! It’s about time I start leaving my mark in the anime community!” And then this lovely opportunity comes up, and next thing I know, I’m popular! I’ve been writing ever since I was a kid, and I still write in some many different styles every day!
I hail from Wellington, New Zealand and I’m heavily involved in film, music and anime. I’ve also studied Japanese all throughout my school life and still continue to do so. I really love to look at films and anime in a critical way, and usually go against the norm for a lot of mainstream shows. However, I do have my moments of weakness and I do succumb to the occasional moe-blob.
I’m also a huuuuuuge gamer! I used to run my own gaming site, but due to a lot of problems, it’s been down for a while now 🙁 I’m still wanting to get it up and running! I guess that’s all there really is to know about ol’ Hato-kun! Add me on PSN or XBL (If you can find out my name! I’m Overcooled~ Nice to meet you. I’m the type who is shy at first, but loosens up after time. So I’m sure you’ll get to understand everything about my personality over time. I’m completely new at blogging, but I love it because I get to share my passion of anime with others! (Ahhh…sounds so cheesy..forgive me…)
As for my anime/manga tastes, I can’t stand romance or super-shoujo anime. It makes me cringe. I prefer explosions and gore over kissing, I guess? I loovveee slow-paced psychological anime as well though. Actually, I like a lot of things, just not anything with too much mushiness. Fun fact: I am pretty much completely immune to fanservice now.
Outside of my anime obsession, I have a video game obsession (as if I wasn’t enough of a hikikomori…). I stopped playing basketball and archery, but I’m a black belt and still train at my dojo. Maybe that’s why I like watching anime…I’m such a violent person; it makes me feel like fighting XD. Sadly, you can’t do most anime moves in real life. Yes…I’ve tried…
Hoshi – The Manga Connoisseur

Hello~! Name’s Hoshi and I’m very happy to become a writer here at Metanorn because I live in a cultural wasteland, and I find very few anime fans here in my town. What’s a hyper fangirl to do?! So I went to this glorious thing called the web and met so many awesome people to fangirl with, and now that includes all of you wonderful people here! I’ve been an anime fan since I was in middle school, almost six years now, and I’ve never stopped loving it. I’m a quiet person, but once you start talking to me about anime, or even worse mention my most FAVORITE anime ever, I’ll suddenly get extremely hyper. It’s like unleashing the ultimate fangirl beast mwuahahaha!
I’d like to call myself a manga connoisseur; I own more than 100 manga in my collection, and I’ve read tons more titles here on the web thanks to scanlation sites. Manga-buying has become a huge hobby of mine; no matter how many times my parents say what a waste of money if I finish them in twenty minutes, heh. Being such a huge manga fan, I favor manga over anime any day. ;D Other than writing, another hobby of mine is drawing, even though I’m not so talented in that department. I do have a Deviantart and add me if you like! Just email me for the username. :3
I also live a Korean and Japanese music lifestyle, other than my anime one. I got into Japanese music because of anime; I really loved anime opening songs, and one day I just went to explore the genres they had, and tada~! became a Jpop/Jrock/Visual Kei fan. I’m also a fan of Korean music, and K-dramas thanks to friends. I become extremely fangirly with those things as well<3 I’m a bit new to blogging about anime, but I’ll be trying my best, and just pouring out my anime fangirling on to the web ;D This has been Hoshi, goodbye~!
Ryuuko – The Otaku Extraordinaire

Hey guys! I’m Ryuuko, a writer Metanorn has recently adopted! 😛 I also write for the online magazine Suite101.com, but I’m really excited and happy to be accepted on the team here! I’ve been a serious anime and manga fangirl since forever and I’m really looking forward to sharing and adding to the great community Metanorn has built up so far!
I started out with comedy, school life and slice of life series and those are still my favourites though I can easily enjoy pretty much any genre except for the really harem ones with nothing else to offer. Sorry harem fans! xD;; At the top of my <3 lists at the moment are To aru Kagaku no Railgun and Lucky Star, while my favourite manga is Ga-Rei. Apart from anime and manga I also love console rpg and pc mmo rpg gaming (I accidentally got sucked into an mmorpg for a couple of years but recently escaped). I ended up loving it too much and it morphed into a time vamp so I’ve had to let it go! ^^;
Background-wise I’m a recent graduate from the University of Auckland in New Zealand so Hato-kun and I are from the same place even though I live across the ditch in Brisbane, Australia now! My double major was in English + Film, TV and Media Studies and my future goal is to become a screenwriter! Until that dream is achieved, and hopefully even after please put up with my posts and rantings here, lol. I’ll try to make them as informative and entertaining as I can!
Masu – The Procrastinator

I guess a good starting point for this is the fact that I was the last to turn in my “about me.” Therein lies a characteristic that, well to put plainly, defines me. I am lazy. I procrastinate. Perhaps I have my Hawaiian blood to blame, seeing as how 80% of them are bums (including me). Maybe I like to work under pressure. Or maybe, I don’t care. I’ll leave that for you guys to decide.
I’m Masu, though you all can call me Kami-sama. I’ve been into “this stuff” for a while and have been a writer even longer. It took a while, but at some point in my great existence, I put two and two together and it became ani-blogging (not four). Enter Metanorn, a site that once published an ad for writers (and a site I’ve followed for years). After some hard (read: last minute) work I found myself here, writing an “about me,” for you.
I read a lot, I watch a lot of movies, I write a lot, I listen to a lot of music, therefore I am very critical of things I watch, hear or read. And yes, I know, you damned grammar Nazis, I didn’t use parallelism correctly, deal with it. I’m into anything that has a good story and well constructed characters. This interest spans all genres and media because I believe art is art, no matter where you find it. I also enjoy deep conversations and romantic long walks on the beach.
End Note: We won’t ever be tired of thanking our readers, who make this place worthwhile for us to go bonkers with our fandom obsession. Thank you for all the support! Yoroshiku Onegaishimasu~ ^^
