Part 1 – Ningen Shikkaku [No Longer Human]
Yagami Light with black hair?!
Ok, so this would be another show I’ll be blogging (woo-hoo!). It seems that this show is underrated to the core already. This doesn’t seem to get that much attention unlike the other shows this season, even though hands down in my opinion, this has the best character designs, story and one of my favorite execution so far already this season. I also don’t know why, but I get some Mouryou no Hako and Kurozuka mixed vibes in here, in which these shows are also underrated and much ignored in the past year.
If you wonder why the character design of the main guy looks somewhat familiar, the original character design is from Takeshi Obata, who’s the one behind Death Note as well. So yeah, some scenes I can’t help but see some Light Yagami resemblance with the lead guy.
The story for the first part here in Blue Literature is Ningen Shikaku (by Osamu Dazai), which will last for four episodes. I loved the first episode, as expected. It was well done, the direction is flawless, the visuals are fantastic. This anime has my favorite bgms so far. It’s just very atmospheric and it definitely matches up on how intense and heavy this show can be.
This is one mature heavy drama show, probably that’s why it stands out for me in this season full of generic anime already. There are still some light moments like the guy hiding in the girl’s gown (nice view there). But there’s mostly heavy stuff in here, especially as the episode goes by. Since it’s a mature show, we encounter a sensual sex scene. There’s also a disturbing scene where a shota is being molested. The thing about the cliff pushing and the suicidal elements are shocking as well. But nonetheless, it’s very promising and I can’t wait to see what will happen next.
I need to re-watch though, since it’s seems like no one’s subbing it on English yet. Only Chinese subs are released so far. Even raws are too slow to get released. It’s a shame that this show is getting neglected already >.>
