Tokyo Magnitude 8.0: 2
D’awww~
Well Bravo. Just, Bravo. That was one amazing episode I must say. Everything is just kept down to realism. It’s totally believable, and I must admit that it’s absolutely rare to find something like this currently. Besides from her, every character is totally believable as well. Every element in this episode just dragged me in and I ended up falling in love with the series completely.
When I thought that Mirai is a whiny brat on the previous episode, here she is being really heroic and an amazing sister to Yuuki, and she’s showing a very vulnerable side of her.I’m also giving so much heaps of praises to Mirai’s seiyuu. The desperation to find her brother, the panic and the vulnerability is just overflowing and it’s just awesome. Well we can say that the worst case scenario always brings out the best in a person. And this one, Mirai has it.
My favorite character has got to be Mari. She helped Mirai in a very selfless way, and I guess she took part in bringing the best in her by her company. And it’s really awesome on how she always remain so collected all the time. She has a daughter left at home right? What about her?
And then Yuuki was found and he’s safe and sound. I was all “DAAAAAAAAAAAWWWW”. What an angel *__*. I’m so ready to cry when I thought they’ll kill him off immediately, but Thank God he got saved by Mirai’s intuition. But yeah, I really love Yuuki so much and it totally gave a crying smile on my face when he got rescued.
Bottomline
I really love how the series puts in the tragic mood already. And I hope this can keep up. I would love some drama that causes me to sympatize with the characters (unlike Umineko lolol). So overall, this episode is just fantastic. So much development from Mirai, intense drama, and top-notch voice-acting. Now that’s what I’m talking about! This is absolutely the best episode so far as the Summer season anime goes for me. Ok, now bring on the tsunamis XD~ *gets slapped*.
And also, the series seems to share a fair amount of cake :3

I was still hoping that Mari would slap (some sense into, or just for the heck of it XD) Mirai at least once during the episode ;P
I find that the show did a good job moderating Mirai’s behavior doing this episode – she didn’t go into rash desperado mode from the get go (aka shounen-mode), instead starting out bleary eyed and post-disaster shocked and lost and slowly made her way there. Mari too was decently kept as a down to earth character (I was half hoping/expecting her to come back from her bike wielding a huge spear but yay for cake instead XD)

@issa-sa — If Mari had “slapped some sense into” Mirai and got her to come with her right out of the building, they would never have found Yuuki. It’s a package: Mirai’s selfish anger energizes her selfless strength. Personally, I never hated that bitchy aspect of Mirai. It was so realistic. Of course, I wouldn’t want to live with it, lol.

Mirai’s outlook on life is about to change drastically. It’s always through traumatic events that people start to take life seriously. 🙂 I’m falling for this series too! :cute:
