Summer Anime Catalogue 2014

———————————————————————————
We sure had a very happening start to the year and Spring wasn’t too bad either. If you are a sports fan, you had plenty to watch with a dash of Action, RomCom and SoL. Compared to last year, Summer is presenting a much healthy line-up, not only in terms of numbers but quality as well. In Summer, there is plenty of action and adventure series but for romance and comedy seekers, there are few gems as well. I have to mention that this is the first time two shounen-ai series are releasing after many seasons. Yes indeed, there are action and ecchi toys for boys, while there is plenty bishies and romance for the fangirls. You can take your pick.
In terms of summary, we have around 101 titles releasing with 39 TV series, 7 Shorts, 17+ Specials, 23+ OVAs, and 15+ movies. Like usual, we haven’t followed any specific pattern except for gathering info from ANN, MAL, Wikis and official sites to get a comprehensive list of titles releasing this season. For chart action, you can check out neregate’s detailed version. Do note, the round up updates are limited to popular studios and seiyuu rather than A to Z update (expect 90% coverage). As well, Psycho-Pass seiyuu cast has not been mentioned because of a re-broadcast.

// STUDIOS
- Due to off season and the preparation for a banging amazing Fall, many of the popular studios are happy to release only 1~2 series in Summer.
- Well, except for A-1 Pictures because they are releasing not 2 but FOUR titles in Summer! I feel pity for their staff who have to work over-time to meet the tight deadlines. Anyhow, the four titles are all very anticipated titles, so let’s hope they do a wonderful job: Aldnoah.Zero (with TROYCA), Persona 4 the Golden Animation, Sword Art Online II and Kuroshitsuji: Book of Circus.
- After A-1, we have few studios, who are releasing two titles. As in:
- J.C. Staff – Majimoji Rurumo and Love Stage!
- SILVER LINK – Rokujouma no Shinrakyusha! and Fate/kaleid Liner Prisma Illya 2wei!
- Xebec – Shirogane no Ishi Argevollen and Tokyo ESP
- Feel – Futsuu no Joshikousei ga [locodol] Yatte Mita and Jinsei
- Sunrise – Shinrabanshou: Tenchi Shinmei no Shou and Kidō Senshi Gundam-san

// SEIYUU: Male
- As Summer is not as busy as Spring or Fall, the number of roles to voice lessen as well. So, pay attention to the below list for your favourites.
- This season Jun Fukuyama is back with a vengeance. He is literally wearing the HanaKana hat for the male seiyuu by voicing FIVE roles this season in Rail Wars!, Kuroshitsuji: Book of Circus, Nobunaga Concerto, RE: Hamatora and Shin Strange+.
- I’m happy to see some old and new faces getting four roles this season:
- Yuuichi Nakamura – Tokyo Kushu, Rokujouma no Shinrakyusha!, RE: Hamatora and Nobunaga Concerto
- Ryota Ohsaka – Shirogane no Ishi: Argevollen, Glasslip, Shounen Hollywood andRE: Hamatora
- Yuuki Kaji – Ao Haru Ride, Barakamon, Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun and Kuroshitsuji: Book of Circus
- Showtaro Morikubo – Persona 4 the Golden Animation, Love Stage!, Bakumatsu Rock and Momo Kyun Sword
- Kensho Ono – Aldnoah.Zero, Bakumatsu Rock, Shounen Hollywood and Shin Strange+

// SEIYUU: Female
- You will be surprised that neither HanaKana or Ai Kayano are voicing too many roles this season. Rather an oldie but an amazing voice actress is topping the list this Summer. She is none other than Sayaka Ohara, who has voiced some amazing motherly, wifey or even dangerous roles. She will be voicing SIX roles this season in: Aldnoah.Zero, Persona 4 the Golden Animation, Sengoku Basara: Judge End, Shirogane no Ishi: Argevollen, Love Stage!, and Fate/kaleid Prisma Illya 2wei.
- After Sayaka, we have three female seiyuu, who have bagged more main roles than most by voicing four roles this season. As in:
- Mikako Komatsu – Akame ga Kill!, Aldnoah.Zero, Ao Haru Ride and Momo Kyun Sword
- Ai Kayano – Aldnoah.Zero, Ao Haru Ride, Glasslip and Ai Mai Mi 2
- Emiri Katou – Fate/kaleid Prisma Illya 2wei, Kuroshitsuji: Book of Circus, Momo Kyun Sword and RE: Hamatora
- Three Roles:
- Sawashiro Miyuki – Sword Art Online II, Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun and Hanamonogatari
- Maaya Uchida – Rail Wars!, Ao Haru Ride and Ai Mai Mi 2
- Sora Amamiya – Akame ga Kill!, Aldnoah.Zero and Tokyo Ghoul
- Megumi Han – Barakamon, Zankyou no Terror and Kidou Senshi Gundam-san
- Sachika Misawa – Aldnoah.Zero, Locodol and Tokyo ESP
