WELCOME TO METANORN’S MASSIVE SPRING 2011 ANIME CATALOGUE!

This post  of 60+ titles took a lot of blood and sweat to compile! Roundups to be posted soon~ ^^;;

Update: Changed some cover images, added links to all skipped list and finally the ROUND UP IS HERE!!!

Kyokai: I feel like, I just did this. Not the review, A LOT OF WORK. So, I’m going to make this short. Spring usually is the time of the year when studios go crazy and give us so much choice that our mind boggles and eyes pop. Though, with the declining quality of anime, I’m not sure if it’s going to be a similar lineup or mix and match of good and bad. Usually it’s the latter so I’m ready to give out some benefit of the doubt. I can only hope some Spring happens here in Asia, or else I’ll be as usual feeling HOT, HOT, HOT till September. >.>

Overcooled: Spring means no more snow, and that means nicer weather. It doesn’t mean I’ll actually be outside to enjoy it, but at least I can study without having to turn the heating on. The spring selection of anime certainly looks a lot warmer than Winter, but I still feel a lot more cynical about it than everyone else I’ve chatted with. Maybe I’m just bitter. OH WELL. Let’s hope you have more luck finding some diamonds in the rough than I did.

Hato-kun: Spring? Don’t me laugh, northern hemisphere! You should know well that in Hato’s domain of the world is slooooowly creeping into Autumn! You know what Autumn means? Actual weather I like! Rain! Wind! Cold! No longer must I be slave to the heat of Summer! And while I’m curled up and warm, studying in my first year of Uni, I’ll know that when I decide to procrastinate (believe me, there will be a lot of that…) I’ll know that I have some good anime to watch!

Sassy: Oh god I’m not even caught up to winter anime at the moment, and SPRING anime is coming up? It looks like I need to switch back into sleepless mode in order to prepare myself. Now let’s take a look at this lineup. I don’t need to look at them beforehand because let’s face it, the only thing that REALLY matters is whether or not I get any Kanae Ito. I was cheated for the winter, so it’s time for the studios to pay up.

Foshizzel: Whoa! What happened to summer and winter! Seems like those shows went by so quickly! Spring season looks decent, hopefully we all can find something worth following. I am only looking at a handful of anime this season, I WANT SOME MECHA! Uh…yea anyway let’s find out what we all like the most!

Ness: Oh Spring is here. One step closer to summer, my friend the Sun, oh how I have missed you. But yeah! Spring Anime!! There’s a good amount that I want to watch and a good selection compared to Winter. But I will probably not be blogging as much this season, there’s so much school stuff going on in the spring that I want to just crawl under a rock. However, I have my eyes set on a few series to come.

Captain: If you were in Tokyo at this time, you’ll see cherry blossoms everywhere. EVERYWHERE. So much so that whenever the wind blows, petals and petals of pink literally smother you. It’s like Kuchiki Byakuya’s in real life, less dangerous Bankai. *cough* Tite Kubo must have gotten the idea from somewhere *cough* troublesome, but nevertheless, pretty. Spring also means that the anime advertisements get a turn for the better, I don’t know why, but they just do. Random fact, there, hey.

Hoshi: In So-Cal, Summer is hell, Winter is hell, and Fall is just plain annoying. Yet Spring, oh dearest Spring, brings the best, non-bipolar weather to the south of Cali, making everyone stop bitching about the weather for once during the year. Now to compliment that, the Spring anime selection is bringing out its best, and even turning some of my personal favorite mangas into anime from Deadman Wonderland to Ao no Excorist to A Channel. I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited for Spring before in my entire life. So many good things to fangirl about, BRING IT ON SPRING~!

Hime: Spring is one of my favourite seasons, the cherry blossoms, those days where it’s sunny but yet raining. It’s just wonderful. And it tends to be pretty good to me when it comes to anime. Summer, the little slut it is, is usually just filled with sequels to bad shows I didn’t care to watch the first time around and Winter is that uncomfortable friend that just doesn’t know what she’s trying to say so she flashes you her panties. Most of my favourite shows come out around this time so for once I can cast off my cynicism and genuinely get excited about stuff. Hur-f*cking-rah!

Kyokai: After reading the above comments, I just remembered that I should be excited because some awesome mangas being animated and some season twos coming in. I can only remember some funny words right now… Nomobuyo, Oshi, Hashitawa, Dokeda, Gunmicha, De, Ribura! It’s ironic, when read backwards as raburi de chamingu dakedo watashi ha shi o yobu mono, it means “Lovely and charming; however, I’m the one who will call upon death.” I did call upon death when I started reviewing this post but oh well, there’s a silver lining at the end of the tunnel and I will REACH it! Without any further ado, the breakdown:

    -Gintama Gonna give the second season a shot and hope it doesn’t matter that I didn’t watch the first season. Simply too long! And I don’t like the artwork, so no chance of reading the manga.

    -Deadman Wonderland sounds interesting!
    -Ao no Exorcist has demons. And I love most animes with demons and angels and I really like the character design.
    -Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon I like the story.
    -C Original anime, awesome character design and weird storyline! EXCITED!!
    -Stein;s Gate They had me with the microwaves. Lol
    -Sex Pistols I need Yaoi in my life. That’s all.
    -Norageki Four prisoners and a cat? Sounds like a great anime.

      Actually! That 201 episode chunk of Gintama wasn’t the first season xD That was actually 4 seasons altogether.
      But they took a long break and now the fifth season’s out.
      I-I don’t like the artwork much, either, but I’m all for the characters <3

    You skipped out Fireball Charming? What a shame. I am very much looking forward to this excellent piece of comedy and animation.
    Check out the first season. You can find it on Youtube, it’s extremly funny, and every episode is only two minutes long, so you probably only spend 20 minutes on it.

    An interesting list of anime for Spring. I’ll show leniency and give some of them a chance. Deadman Wonderland, Hidan no Aria, Ao no Exorcist and C: The Money of Soul and Possibility Control sound good so they’ll be first in line for me.

    Don’t really like slice of life animes. Too boring if the story isn’t good at all.

    A brief return of Shiki?!! I’m so there!! I’ve been itching for some closure and it’s going to be great seeing my favorite characters again along with some despair and slow burning madness. Can’t we simply make time go faster?!!

        I thank you greatly. I’m hoping the Spring season shows as much promise as the winter one since it’s practically come to a close. I’m a shameless sucker when it comes to sci-fi, fantasy and supernatural genres. Simply can’t get enough of them. Once there’s a solid story, I’m good to go.

              The main character in Ao no Exorcist being half human and half demon sounds a bit like Yusuke Urameshi from Yu Yu Hakusho. So does being able to cross between the human world and the demon world.

              I know it’s nothing new but while reading the manga, I was attracted to the character designs and how their personalities meshed well. The main protagonists include twin brothers and a melee of characters. Worth the hype definitely.

              I’m definitly going to like Ao no Exorcist. Saw the discription on wikipedia and it sounds awesome. The cast as well. The one who voices the main character also voices Toru Mutou from Shiki, Accelerator from Toaru Majutsu no Index and Toaru Majutsu no Index II and Yumeji Fujiwara from Yumekui Merry. Can’t wait.

    ~You guys seriously don’t know how excited I am for A Channel…that manga is just too cute (with some pretty good comedy, though not as good comedy as Azumanga Daioh).

    Oh dear lord. I actually got cheated and checked out the Spring 2011 releases list about two weeks ago. I swear, this list is HUGE. O_O So much to digest, so much to see, so much to rant about! Too much!!!!! *~*
    First of all – Deadman wonderland!!!!! Man, I have been waiting for this since FALL! That was so painful.. Hoshi, I understand you so.. TT^TT But soon… very soon..! CAN’T WAIT ><" Then, Ao no Exorcist. Because.. Look at the cast! Look at the art! Look at the producer! And the plot looks decent as well. Just… why a ‘blue’ exorcist? >.> Bipolar thoughts about Dog Days. Literally everything from this show turned me off, until I looked at the seiyuu list. That made me reconsider my decision.. But I still don’t know.. Then, I got interested in Nichijou. On the other side – I don’t know, if I will be able to endure so much moe. I just Don’t Know!! *0*
    Okay.. I think, I am going to be killed after I’ll say this XD But… I think I’m gonna watch Pretty Rhythm Aurora Dream. Okay, no shooting!! My passion for figure skating overpowers my fear of sparkles!! >~<
    Ano hana… *~* This isn’t my type of anime, because my over-emotional nature doesn’t allow me to touch such a sweet stuff. except for Kimi ni Todoke But I’m going to check this one out, too. Then, I got interested in Hanasaku iroha. I thought I would definitely watch this at first, but now, I don’t think that I will like it. Though, I’m sure, I will watch the 1st episode. Just, please. Not too much of Angel Beats!
    Hen Zemi – a MUST!! My tastes are starting to change, because I’m actually interested in Ecchi. But this looks too funny to skip <3 Consider watching Denpa onna to Seishun Otoko too. SHAFT weights quite a bit for me, I noticed just now. I don’t know about Sket Dance, I got slowly turned off about it. Whyyy?..
    Definitely watching C !! The storyline sounds really interesting, just as in Steins;Gate. I think, my Sci-Fi nerd genes are awakening in me. ^^”
    SEKAI ICHI HATSUKOIIIIIII!!!!!!! *0* Shounen-ai, and I’m all in for it! And look at that seiyuu cast! <3 nyaaaaaa~
    I’m actually interested in Koe de Oshigoto. What is happening to me, I hate this type of shows! But for some reason, I want to watch this! Looks too hilarious *~* + HOTD and Norageki. Shiki specials. No second thoughts from me.

          Spring is always the biggest season when comparing titles. I mean imagine 100 titles… Like what happened?!

          There will be TOO MUCH to watch but hopefully, we will. Btw, now you know how hard it was to make this post. As someone said above, a part of our soul is fixed to this post. xD

              Well, I do like to be hella thorough. While I was doing the roundup, I felt like I was writing a university paper because I referred to so many places. >.< Though it paid off in the end and yes, anime has never been this diverse! xD

    Im so sorry other than watching FMA i haven’t watched any anime since the one of the first couple of weeks from the winter season

    Ah… Spring! So excited for warm weather~

    Now, onto my list:

    Deadman Wonderland looks good.

    Hidan no Aria… I’m watching it because I like the character designs. A tsundere loli voiced by Rie Kugimiya. Somehow, I could tell that that would be her seiyuu as soon as I saw the picture.

    Ao no Exorcist – The cast, the description, the trailer, the bishies… definitely watching!!

    Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon looks pretty cool

    I’m watching Ano Hana. It looks very sweet and I enjoy slice of life series.

    I’m really looking forward to Hanasaku Iroha. Okay, so it helps that Kanae Ito is in it and that PA Works is doing it, but it does seem like something I would watch anyway.

    SHAFT!!! Sooo watching Denpa onna to Seishun Otoko.

    I’ve been looking forward to C: The Money of Soul and Possibility Control, so I’m watching.

    Steins;Gate – Sci-Fi and microwaves… I’m in!

    I’ll check out Moshidora. I hate sports though, so there is a good possibility of this getting dropped.

    Gonna watch Norageki.

    Katteni Kaizō – FUCK YES FUCK YES FUCK YES FUCK YES!!!!!! It’s by the same mangaka as Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei!!!!!! FUCK YES!!!! I hope this will be as good as SZS and as crazy~

    Hoshi wo Ou Kodomo – Makoto Shinkai = instant watch
