Skylion’s in Kentucky? He’s hoarding all the fried chicken! Dude, if so, I’ve got a sharpened pitchfork with your name on it.

A few shows here and there but the season overall, to me, is rather lackluster as I’ve come to expect from the Winter season in general. A handful of decent series to offer but none I can really say are “must-sees”. It becomes increasingly apparent Spring and Fall are the seasons in the year that have energy in their line-ups.

What’s remained on my list are Ao no Exorcist: Kyoto Fujouou-hen, Chaos;Child, Demi-chan wa Kataritai, Tales of Zestiria the X S2 and Youjo Senki. I couldn’t get into Little Witch Academia since the first two episodes didn’t hold my interest, I’ve fallen behind with Akiba’s Trip and Hand Shakers’ faded into oblivion.

I have to agree with you about the season overall being ‘Meh,’ although there are a few shows I really like. I voted for every show I’m still following and only cast votes for 7, not the 10 we could vote for.

In my opinion, Winter and Summer are the year’s weaker seasons. The trouble for me is I started this season with finding only 10 shows worth watching and a couple fell off over time after seeing what they had to offer. Not very impressive when I usually have close to 20 on the list a season. At least Spring 2017 is showing some promise.

Spring has Shingeki no Bahamut s2, Boku no hero Academia s2 and yeah I already know tons of people are hyped for Attack on Titan coming back! I’m not really excited for it because the first season was great, but after a while the WOW factor wears off and Yuki Kaji as Eren is more annoying than “badass” for me.

I’m a bit sad that Kekkai Sensen s2 was coming out in the spring but now it’s been pushed back to TBA so who knows when that will ever air…

Besides that I’m the most curious about Re:Creators which is from studio TROYCA aka the people that did Aldnoah;Zero! Say what you want about the series itself at least it had some decent CGI and visual art style and this new series has scifi elements with mechs, fantasy elements and I saw a magical girl in one of the most recent trailers which has me excited!

I’d watch it to see how the story continues in the second season but I’m not one of the people that’s “hyped” about it. Among the WIT Studio shows, Titan isn’t my top choice/favorite. Honestly, I didn’t even know about its existence until I saw the very first episode of the first season. Titan’s mainly popcorn entertainment heavily reliant on action scenes and a plethora deaths (mostly shock value) to hold attention. And looking back after all this time, Eren’s too much of a raging hot-head.

Oh? I thought you were one of the biggest AoT fans on Metanorn? Lol I know you liked Koutetsujou no Kabaneri and Owari no Seraph or are you more of a WIT Studio fan? IDK but I feel you on it coming back ill watch it still; however it will be on the back burner for me.

            • BlackBriar says:

Seraph of the End/Owari no Seraph, everything about it I’d pick over Attack on Titan any day of the week. It has way more of a story, is more ambitious and interesting, the main characters are far more likable and has more audacity to go where I can’t see Titan so much as tip-toeing into. As in it’s not afraid to chastise humans for the obscure, unsightly side of their nature and it does that in abundance.

Titan on the other hand, while passing for flashy mainstream popcorn entertainment, is too black and white and inflexible for personal taste with the human side arbitrarily the good guys and the Titans as the bad guys. But since the Titans are overgrown, mindless beasts driven by instinct, there’s no other way to use them. Even if there is a story to be told, it’s put to a back seat to all the flashiness.

Koutetsujou no Kabaneri is an odd one that I still managed to enjoy, more so than Titan. So it ranks about second place behind Seraph. Its arcs weren’t tediously drawn out with action scenes that give the impression you’re being stalled for something and while it didn’t completely succeed, it tried to step out of Titan’s black and white arbitrary shadow trying to introduce a “who’s the greater or lesser evil” element between the two camps. Something Seraph has both Titan and Kabaneri beat.

Out of 35 series i’m still watching 16 of them, but for the most part I really enjoy what this season has to offer even though every winter season seems to be lacking for some.

LWA is still my top series of the season.

      • BlackBriar says:

Even if about half of your list has been dropped, where do you find the time to watch all of those shows?

My top series of the season is Ao no Exorcist: Kyoto Fujouou-hen.

        • Foshizzel says:

I try to watch like 4-5 things every other night with my brother sometimes we skip a few days because only like 1-3 series update during the week also the weekends are heavy for updates like 6-8 series so tldr I watch most of my anime on the weekends.

Ao no Ecorcist s2 started off slow, but i’m enjoying it so far.

          • BlackBriar says:

So that basically means you set up a schedule in advance every time and if you miss so much as one, it all falls apart on you. Not to mention you’re still tied to blogging duties. That’s sounds rather high maintenance.

          • Highway says:

Watching 16 shows comes out to less than 8 hours a week. If you sit down and watch 4 shows in a row, you’re done in less than two hours, even with bathroom and snack breaks. Most people do that every night watching TV. It’s not really a burden.
