Haifuri: High School Fleet – 11
Mei’s enduring love…
The situation has gotten dire, and the Captain has seen better days that is for sure. Let’s see how she beat that funk. |

The Musashi has that looming threat feel down pat…
The set up for this episode was simple and to the point. Get the big looming threat. But, as with many things as such, it’s what complicates the deal that’s always what makes for a good story. In this case, it’s that the Musashi is crewed by students, students that have become hamster-zombies. We also have to take into account that the assumption the higher up’s made about where it was heading was pretty much dead wrong, and that the hamsters are causing that weird electric fizzle, along with weird zombie fizzles. So now everyone is one edge looking to make up for past mistakes. Plus, big warship in striking distance of a populated civilian area. Let’s not ignore the that…
BluMers are good, until they hit hamster fields…
So even with the Harekaze in the closest position to intercept the big threat, we still have further complications in the deal, as a student run ship that’s outclassed coming and going isn’t going to do much good. So our crew is basically running a sort of non-interference-interference. But wait, there’s more! We’ve seen it building up, but now is the point where our captain’s confidence is shot nearly beyond repair, the fear of an unknown situation that cannot repair simply by the pluck and luck they’ve exhibited; Then you add desperate deputy-captain at odds to lend the steady hand.
Maron is the wonder mechanic…just don’t order food with her…
Luckily, the rest of the crew is still in the process of finding out how things work, that’s the benefit of being students. So in reality, Mikase doesn’t have to overly-stress about the situation, nor does Munetani have to worry about not fitting in that mold. You have to dare to be different, to find out how to metals work when founding an alloy. You can’t do that without applying the appropriate heat, and this situation does just that. Again, as fortune has it, this crew melts well, the additional benefit of being students – they’ve had few opportunities for people to come out and tell them that they can’t do something. But then the situation they have really is going to reward initiative…
None of us like hamsters
I thought it was a good measure to hold back this long, and reveal what was happening on the bridge of the Musashi, in this penultimate episode. Had they done it – other than the mid-point reveal that Moeka was looking fairly normal, or as normal as anyone could figure out – earlier then that would have drained out all the tension. I also like how they didn’t over dramatize everything. The situation was grim, but the bridge crew, no matter how confined, managed to keep it together this long. Perhaps luck and pluck aren’t to be so easily dismissed? That leads us to the next plot point as the BluMers are taking all the correct measures; with the boarding skippers and the now weaponized anti-virus measures, it’s just a matter of getting it to the Musashi.
…with Mustard?
She’s still stuck on that bit, she’ll get to mustard soon enough…

It’s Time to Captain
This was a good episode to lead into the finale. Now, it’s also a bit by the book for my tastes. While I enjoyed the drama and characterization, especially Maron’s awesome turn ala Scotty Miracle Worker, it’s feeling a touch flat, a bit repetitive. It looks like they’ve got a set up similar to how they took out the Spee, so I’m hoping the next story will subvert expectations hard. This had some good battles in it, and I loved watching our students cope with the situation, but they’ve been set up to really hit it, so I’m hoping the writers follow through…

Really liked (and laughed at) the zombie apocalypse vibe from the Musashi crew and how they were holed up. 🙂

It was pretty much the nutshell of the zombies-survivors experience. They didn’t oversell it, and committed to it perfectly; expanding on it next time?

I owe you an apology again for this…It seems like the Big ship (Musashi) is instead moving to the Main land capital and wrecking havok there.
I guess they had enough of “historical references” there or something.
I Predict that the Final Episode will be a little messy but yet kinda epic…Well, i would keep the finger cross for it…

Oh, if you apologize for being wrong about plot guesses, then I do, and if I do that I’ll never hear the end of it from Irenesharda..So you don’t have to apologize.
